My step-dad (a Pom) had one of these, she went everywhere whenever we moved. Like you say, not sure why, but I think the brits of the late(?) 60s liked that sort of thing, sexy dark skinned native girl, specially when they look at their pasty white skinned wives...

They were big here in Australia too...I still see them about at garage sales and the like.
