A couple of Bernal WWII propaganda posters. Shout out to Crazy Vick who also spotted the framed one on the bay, but refrained from bidding (Thanks!).

Great propaganda pieces there, Deke. Love the artwork, too. Bernal is tops.

My Mexican WWII propaganda collection continues to grow.  I love this one from 1942, commemorating the Battle of Stalingrad.

The artwork by Leopoldo Mendez is reminiscent of the "calaveras" popularized earlier in the century by artists like Posada and Manilla.

Thanks! I first learned about this artwork from a 1942 magazine I bought with an article on Mexican propaganda (I earlier posted some photos from the magazine). I was intrigued when I first saw it in the magazine, so I was glad to find a copy for sale.

It was evidently printed in at least two different styles:
* A signed "art print" without the text, apparently on better quality paper. The Art Institute of Chicago has one of these: http://www.artic.edu/aic/collections/artwork/45816
* A larger poster style with the text, on crummier paper. This is the one I have.

And here is the artwork reproduced in the 1942 magazine:
