Japanese Pulp Fiction with Miramax watermark
« on: March 23, 2016, 10:27:54 PM »
Found this on a Japanese auction site, can anyone tell me what it is?
The picture isn't great but there are no credits, just the title with multiple Miramax watermarks...

What size it? Also has a miramax logo bottom left in the white border? Looks like a lot of white space up top as well.

The seller states that it's 102x73 cm (40x28.7 inches).  Also I thought that the white space was wall...

Does the seller have a pic that shows the complete poster? (with no edges cropped off?)

Did the seller overlay the poster with all those Miramax watermarks, do you know?

Ah yes above it is wall. Hopefully they have a better photo?

Here's another item, tho not a poster, that uses the same text-less image, aside from the title.

http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=AQ62102

Maybe that poster was a commercial piece of some kind used to advertise something like this?

I would think it's a commercial poster of some sort, but I'm sure Sean or Armin will know better

Thanks for all the replies guys,
I'm going to email the seller and try to get a better picture.
His sales page is mixed bag of things (posters, auto parts, toys etc....).

He doesn't mention anything about the watermark.  The description just says that the poster was for promotion and not for sale to the public; it has numerous folds (possibly tri-folds) but no pin holes or tears.

I'll post again once (or if) I hear back from him.

Cheers!
(I'll think I'll get that puzzle...)

I'm thinking commercial, as well.

Those watermarks are really annoying.

I wondered why Sean or Armin didn't say anything until I realized, it doesn't say Japanese in the title

I corrected that for the reply

Is it possible that this poster isn't even a Japanese piece at all?

Is there anything on it, that indicates it's of Japanese origin? Printer's info? (aside from the fact that it's being offered for sale from there).

Actually, I never thought it was of Japanese origin... it's just being sold in Japan.

Just to throw more wood on the fire, the seller also has The Great Gatsby with Paramount watermarks (102cm x 73cm) and this Star Trek TMP (102cm x 73cm) which is out there but I couldn't find in any of the 100's of listings in EMP (unless I was searching incorrectly...)

So it seems those so called watermarks are actually a part of the design on both the PF and STTMP posters?

I thought the seller added those to his images, after the fact.

It makes them a bit curious, for sure.  sherlockholmes.gif

I'm pretty sure the seller didn't add them and what's weird to me is that Uma's body seems to be printed over the watermarks...

Yeah, that last pic shows that the Miramax logos are shiny and a part of the poster's printing.

Will be interesting to see what others say this is and why it was printed with these added in such numbers all over (as well as the Gatsby with the Paramount logos- which I think works, as a nice, added touch to that particular design. The PF is overkill, imho).

yes it appears to be a holographic imprint. for what purpose, who knows. I can't think it would be anything less than seriously distracting if the poster is displayed.

My guess is thats its just made with a uv glossy coat. Similar to the Spider-man 3 that have the glossy rain effect.

or like that Indiana Jones poster (forget what one) that has texture to the design that kinda shows.
oh, hmmm TEMPLE OF DOOM? the surface has a raised texture kinda thing, seen as a pattern in light.

Sorry I am not a fan of the films or posters, so I forget n(except I did have one years ago)

Did you ever get any more info from the seller? Or has he/she remained totally silent?

Still no word back and those posters aren't being looked at much; from what I can tell, I'm the only one with them on my watch list and there have been no bids on them since they were posted.  Unfortunately, I can't just buy them up just "to see" what they are... (spent my cash on 2 Kill Bill B2s and an Easy Rider :D)
