Enter the dragon one sheet very fine on linen
« on: March 20, 2016, 12:52:30 PM »
Hi guys
Just wanted to ask what people think this might be worth as looking to sell it. I bought it from a collector several years ago and it was in very fine condition before it was backed and has had no restoration work. It really is a stunning example. Cinemasterpieces are asking over a $1000 dollars for theres but wanted some options from you guys. Here are some pics. Many thanks

To post a pic from photobucket or any other hosting site, simply cut and paste the url between the img tags, by clicking on the little picture frame icon, when posting. It looks like this:   Then they will appear, without the smiley dude, of course..lol.    image.gif

If you were to go the emovieposter route it appears to be a $200-$300 poster, which also follows my standard Cinema$terpiece formula of dividing their prices by 4.

Here's the auction records:

I'd say Peter was right in the Ball-park, if it was in such good condition, backing it was a mistake, as it's wasted money.

I wouldnt sell it for less than $300 unless you are looking to move it quickly.

If I were to list it for auction, I would just start with how much I have into it.  That said, Cinemasterpieces have there customer base, but are not a good reference for worth IMO. This is worth repeating:

However, how much a poster sells for truly depends on who is watching it. It only take two people to drive a price up to a ridiculous amount....

I'd try to sell it to Cinemasterpieces for $500.

I paid £132.00 for my unbacked one then got it backed because it wasn't in good shape>dirty plus tape marks. So I had it cleaned and backed for £155 in hindsight I'd have been better waiting for a decent unbacked version.
Enter the Dragon US version in decent condition can be quite hard to find but nowhere near $1000 hard to find.

Hi,
Not really any restoration done to it rather a cleaning/backing, but here>
http://www.linen-backing.co.uk/

I must say that I would rather have an original poster warts and all than a backed poster as I think backing takes something away from the original unmolested versions, unless of course if it means the poster will be lost if its not restored/preserved.

Hi there. I was going to say earlier that it looks like a mpag work. They are great guys.  I  wasn't very lucky with  their resto, they work with a very thin linen which didn't help my poster. That said they were most helpful.

I agree that Lb takes away that "natural " paper feel.

Hi, that's good news. I did mine a couple of years ago. I posted my experiences here on the restoration thread.  They are really a nice bunch and their music posters collection is very good!!

Looks good, post-backing, gargoyle.  thumbsup.gif

Tape stains can be tough to almost impossible to remove, but the ones from the 4 corners look to be totally gone, which is great. Do you know if they airbrushed the white part of the poster, around the main art, at all, to help remove or cover those marks?

Hay Jeff,
No white paint was used, in fact they were against any restoration work being done to it, I'd love to have a mint version unbacked but they can be pricey :-[
