I tried that spelling, too, Paul. Thanks for that suggestion.

I'm still batting 0 on finding this artist, whoever it is.

This is what arrived, tho delayed, yesterday, with that truncated, USPS shipping label.

A Russian poster (my first one) for the 1961 Czech film called Oseni (released as Green Corn in English speaking countries).

It measures 25 x 41.5 inches.

I find the simple art/color scheme both very expressive of the drama in the film. And the red title stands out well, imo. Plus, when one thinks that this poster was initially "locked" behind the iron curtain, and has since made its way to the West, is also something that I think about, when I look at it.

Art is by Manukhin

^ Farewell Uncle Tom.  Now that is a film that I'd want to watch but not sure if I can, anything about slavery just makes my blood boil...so i probably wont, as you all know one has to look after herself :P

Anyway. Great set, assume it is the full LC set.

German Program (Hammers) DRACULA

Now THIS i do really like too, Ari.  clap clap

Those images are all simply iconic. I always liked too, that the one closeup image of Lee, used on this piece (the Italian 70s RR 4F comes to mind too), that image has actually been rotated so his face is upright and vertical in that still. In the film, that shot is Dracula in his coffin (and before the sun has fully set), in response to Harker's having just put a stake thru his vampire bride's heart.

This shot of Lee starts at about the 2 minute mark:

At lunchtime yesterday, I stopped into the little 2nd hand store not far from where I was working. Rolled up on another piece of furniture, I found this. It's a poster for the 1995 Festival du Film Policier de Cognac. I decided to snag it as they wanted a buck for it.

From wiki, I read that this was a film festival, held in Cognac, France from 1982-2007 and it focused on the police/crime genre of films.  (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festival_du_Film_Policier_de_Cognac )

The festival had some really interesting posters made over those years, too.

The poster is drawn art. At first, I thought the bottom scene was a photo, but it isn't.  It measures 19.75 x 27.5 inches.

The poster is also signed and dated. The name looks to be maybe HELKI (?) and is dated '94.

Nice poster!

Could it perhaps be the work of French poster artist Melki? The signature looks like his.

I believe he painted French posters for the likes of Creepshow, Buckaroo Banzai, one or two of the Nightmare on Elm Street sequels, among many others.

Sorry, just checked this thread.  Yes, it is Laurent Melki.  He did Cognac for 5 years.

There is only one thing worse than double posting...
triple posting... (I think that is an instant ban from this forum, with only a written apology to the APF community enabling a tentative return in 6 months time)

Taking some pictures, might as well through a couple up. The black and white neighborhood area of this posters works so well.

These are supposedly rare. I get that sales pitch a lot!

yeah B1 on the poltergeist. The Martian posters run about 26.5 x 39.5, single sided. Just a touch heavier on the paper stock than a normal one-sheet.
