Hi everyone,

I really wracked myself to muster some grace in making this announcement.  I don't want to hijack the board.  But, at the same time, this is serious enough that I want to make sure everyone knows what's happened so that you can make sure not to get ripped off.

A few months ago, I paid Carson for $730 worth of Japanese posters.  Among them were two B1's for Alice in Wonderland.  Everything was good until he told me that the other 4 in the set were available.  He wanted another $1350 for the other four, and while at first I told him I would take them because they are so rare, I thought better of it and told him just a few days later that I couldn't take them.  Needless to say, he was not happy, claiming that I had put him out, even though he had not even received the posters yet from Japan, I believe.

After, I confirmed with him that he was still holding the other posters that I had paid for. He confirmed it.  A few days later, he sent me and email saying they were on their way, BUT that he had substituted two other B1's for the Alice B1's that I had already paid for.  At first, I went nuts and emailed him that he was a dirtbag for trying to substitute these things WITHOUT TALKING TO ME FIRST.  Then, I wrote him and said I didn't need the drama, and to please just ship whatever he was going to ship so that we could be done with it.  He ignored all of the emails from this point.

To date (about 4 or 5 weeks now, I think), he has not shipped the posters, and he has not refunded my money.  I've sent at least 7 or so emails to him asking him to either ship or refund.  He has not. Clearly, he has ripped me off.

I've thought about suing him, flying there and confronting him, or some other things which I'll leave to your imagination.  But, in the end, I just don't need the drama.  He's the one who has to know that:  a) he's a common thief; and b) that everyone in this community now knows it.  I suspect, actually, that there are a few others that have been victimized as I have.

Anyway, that's it.  I wouldn't suggest buying from him.  Also, if any of you happen to come across him at starbucks or something, please piss in his coffee for me.

Another problem you're facing, Holiday, is that the so-called Carson Cockren does not exist.  It makes it hard to recoup your money when the guy acts under a fake identity.

Not good at all.  I know this is not the first time that he has engaged in what some felt were sketchy business practices.  I hope that everything gets worked out somehow.  Best of luck.

Holiday.. that really sucks.. tell me, does it follow this chronology:

1) Carson, on APF, tries to get people to agree not to out ongoing auctions
2) Carson, disappointed, starts acting like an asshole to get his way
3) Carson loses his moderator status for abusing his power
4) Carson decides Holiday  doesn't appreciate him and he screws Holiday for $730 to show that he's a petulant child

is this the right time continuum?

That's completely awful Holiday.  I'd be angry even if was just 25 bucks, I can't believe he took you for over 700.  I agree with Hackenbush, if you paid through paypal start a dispute so you can recoup your loss.  I'm not a legal expert, but over 500 bucks is considered "grand theft" isn't it?

Holy crap! I'm very sorry to hear this Holiday. I guess none of us know him that well, but it's still strange that he'd behave this way after being part of the poster collecting community for so long.

Yo Carson, if you're reading this, let's hear your side of the story.  You're still hanging around NS4 - you can still post there. Silence is an admission of guilt, right?  (And yeah NS4 people - I'll post there eventually too - once I find the right topic!)
