does this poster exist????
« on: June 03, 2014, 07:14:24 PM »
wouldnt mind this becoming a usefull thread, as i see quite a few poster images on line and never actually get to see them as a physical print or for sale even!

i will kick off with the 2014 RR of beauty and the beast quad. i can not find ANY pics of it online ANYWHERE, but as i went to see it at the cinema i can confirm the quad design was a photgraph of the beast hovering over belles bed while she is asleep and that its was a real poster and not a digital print. although being a BFI release this would be the case.

and now i dont really follow modern 1-sheets so much but i have yet to see one of these floating around for sale?

and just so you know i expect the movie will be UTTERLY unwatchable :D
I don't know much, but i do know what my eyes are telling me!

Aren't these small release BFI posters inkjet prints?  Anyway, I couldn't find the BFI poster but found this image on the BFI site:

Willow Creek has only been shown at a couple of film festivals, would be very difficult to find that poster:

It will not be "officially released" in the US on June 6, so maybe a few posters will get out.

well the poster for the B&B is DEFFO a litho print!
and the image is similar to that but its had some jiggery pokery added to make it more ethereal looking.
nice poster but its the only time i have seen it.

Well by no means am I an expert on litho printing but digital printing is much more common for low print runs:

yep you are right.
while i also am not an expert either i can tell the difference between different types of printing, just through my own experience of doing quite a lot of print work and also helping out at my mates graphic design studio from time to time.
i have a few digital printed quads and they tend to be printed on matte plotter paper, well all the ones i have seen are. but even if it was produced on a more modern style of digital printer i can see the difference, the print is SLIGHTLY raised from the paper and you can just tell the difference from litho. i have always had an interest in print , i notice it in books i buy, and also type of stock that is used. its the difference between cheap and slick i guess.

i should also say that i do not own any bfi quads to compare? i am sure that some one here does have and could say what kind of print is on their poster.

OT but I took a large digital image to one of the top commercial printers in DC and they swore up and down that it was impossible to print a large digital image greater than DPI on their commercial (presumably digital) printers.  Is that correct?

hmmm well as i said im no expert either?
but technology shifts along at quite a clip in printing as with most things?
i reckon i could do some digging around and find out whats what with it all?

im attending a festival organised by the dude i know with the graphic design company next week. and one of his mates owns a really quite large printing operation [hes also quite crazy!!] so i can find out the score when i see him next week, possibly?

nice find on the selfish giant! i also said modern 1-sheets isnt my expertise either :)
even though im not that fussed about having a poster for that movie, [i may do yet who knows] but i was just curious to know if it existed?
i dont scan ebay.com for 1 sheets as its just too time consuming for me i already spend about 2 hours a day on there and thats too much i think!
so i figured some one might? :)
thanks mel !
