I just paid you..update my Feedback..
« on: December 13, 2011, 02:40:26 PM »
From a buyer point of view, does anyone else get irritated, when you pay your money and the seller takes an age to bother to feedback??
What more can a buyer do except pay for things??

Usually seller is waiting for you to give him feedback first.  Just the way it is.

I was thinking that too,It kinda feels as if the seller wants feedbackfor something they have yet to despatch..

Nah.  I wait until I receive and examine the item then give feedback.  Usually get mine soon afterward (except for Rich, of course :D )

in general, I do mass feedback about 8 weeks after the auctions
largely because of the way it's set up  for me behind the scenes and because I don't handle any orders post-auction. But I do leave it for everyone and I understand the difficulty in buyers doing the same (the system is only set up for buyers to do one at a time, which is one thing that will be corrected if I can ever afford the $15k to redo the site)

Oops, was good natured, and I didn't mean to touch a wound.  Not sure feedback scores are terribly meaningful on a tightly controlled site like yours or Bruces.  I provide feedback because its there, but I often forget and I don't worry about mine either.

Feedback is overrated - especially when sellers cannot leave negatives on eBay.  Without this ability the system is now severely flawed and cannot "police itself"

I wouldn`t say its overrated..this response feedback,is pretty important as a buyer,The seller is quick to bill me,surely another 15 seconds of their time is not too much to ask?

I used to believe that Chris, but now I don't.
facts are that before, buyers were retaliated against when being honest with neg feedback for sellers
that had to end
I have left a bunch of negs this year, including one today for the shipping asshole. I couldn't do that before and it is the only way you can have an effect on a seller.

Buyers can be kicked off when enough sellers file non-paying, spoof or some other causes, and that realistically is the right penalty for buyers (expulsion)

it is a little imbalanced toward the buyer, but what on ebay isn't?

I firmly believe feedback left for a seller is FAR more important than feedback left for a buyer.

And it's pretty obvious why...

I do think there should be a way where a seller has to give feedback before he can get it in return. This waiting to see what some buyer will give you is all wrong...

And while I'm on here, why do we have to pay for goods first? I think we buyers should receive the goods and if we're happy pay for them, if not ship them back...
If I buy from a shop, I look at the goods before buying, same as at an Auction, you know the real one's...   ;D
It's more than a Hobby...

It would be nice if eBay made you leave feedback when you got paid. Or automatically left feedback positive that could be disputed if the transaction goes south. I'm pretty tired of people holding feedback for ransom until you give them theirs. Really people my side of the responsibility is done when I pay.

I've adopted the policy of: If they wait for me to leave them feedback after I receive the item, instead of giving it to me when I pay (or in between that time and the time of getting the item) Then I don't leave it for them when I get the item. Fuck them greedy bastards... for lack of a better term.

I'd agree with that.

Thats wrong .. IMHO .. Rich had it right .. Before sellers were able to extort + feedback with the threat of a retaliatory negative for any buyer with the nerve to leave them a negative .. So buyers would withdraw and typically leave no feedback .. Which gives the seller a free pass .. That is a broken system .. Also as mentioned above there are many other ways to ding buyers and get them kicked off ebay than feedback. Not to mention if a buyer has 100+ feedback and has a couple negatives mixed in .. whats that mean? Not too much ..

Heck I dont even look at my buyers feedback at all .. I have my auctions set to exclude anyone with more than one nonpaying bidder strike and anyone with less than 5 feedback .. I think theres a couple other options too I just cant recall ..

But in short theres other ways for the seller to protect themselves .. and feedback is the only way for buyers to "pre-screen" a seller .. So I feel the way the feedback system is set up now is the best its been in a while.

I am pretty sure you can't exclude buyers with less than 5 feedback. I think it is only buyers with below zero feedback, which is pretty silly, since such "buyers" should be kicked off.
