Poster website.
« on: February 27, 2014, 04:53:48 PM »
I tried to do a search to see if it's been brought up before. Didn't find one.

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the website http://www.filmposter.net/ and if it was a positive or negative experience?  I have been spoiled by emovieposters professional services and trying another website has me nervous.

Well I bought a 28x40 original Godzilla vs Space godzilla ( Noriyoshi Ohrai artwork version ) for €75. I don't feel like that is a bad or unfair price. I'm mostly worried if it is an actual original,  they claim it is. Once it arrives I will start a thread to figure out how to verify it's originality.

Why would you wonder if it is not an original?

that site is Helmut Hamm

no doubt about it that Helmut is a top notch dealer and there should be no question you are getting exactly what he says you're buying.
I have a lot of respect for him and the other great German dealer Wolfgang Jahn.

I'm sure you'll be very happy when you get your poster

there are lots of great dealers out there Matias. I've never had the pleasure of business with Armin (if he has any Raymond Chandler posters, I'd sure like to hear about it)

Matias also is wonderful to deal with. He even lets you know when someone else has a cool Blue Dahlia item that you need for your collection

Agreed, there's lots of good people in the hobby, and I haven't -fortunately- come across any of the other type.
As for Chandler, I doubt Armin has any, he's more into sleaze cinema  ;D

And thanks! Always happy to help fellow collectors (as long as they don't need the same stuff I need  ;))

while I definitely have come across the "other type" the facts are that they are a minority.

I believe it's a B2?

I don't think $115 US for a 28x40 of this is unfair.

Yea, Noriyoshi Ohrai does amazing work. I'd love to collect an original of all his work. I could stare at it all day.

I don't know about your specific purchase since I don't collect Godzilla themed posters, but from browsing their site for 5 minutes, their prices seem very high.  Wolfgang Jahn is much more affordable.

That's a reasonable price for Ohrai.  His work is beautiful.

You very well could be right. I don't doubt your expertise. Sadly in the last few months I haven't been able to find any of Noriyoshi Ohrai Godzilla posters that aren't outrageously priced. I can find 20x28s all day, but I honestly prefer 28x40 or bigger. Artwork of Noriyoshi Ohrai caliber deserves to be large in my opinion. It's breathtaking.

Here's the exact same poster I got but for twice what I paid on that site:

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Godzilla-vs-Space-Godzilla-2sheet-Artwork-Movie-Poster-Extremely-RARE-29-/181115513639?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a2b536b27&_uhb=1

Here's a 20x28 original but for the price I paid+shipping for my 28x40:

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Godzilla-vs-Space-Godzilla-1sheet-Artwork-Movie-Poster-Extremely-RARE-/171018676040?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27d181e748&_uhb=1

I think the B2 for Godzilla vs Mecha-Godzilla II is Noriyoshi Ohrai best piece. It's such a strong picture. Mecha-Godzilla over-whelming presence seems to leap out of the poster. Fire Rodans magnificents and grander radiate from underneath the King of the Monters feet.

A B1 measures 28x41
A B2 measures 20x28
So by the sound of what you say the measurements are it is a B1.

This just goes to show I have more to learn from you guys. I thought B1 was the live-action poster and B2s were the animated ones, in refrence to these Godzilla posters. I double checked my listing, and it's a B1.

That poster will look AMAZING in the larger, B1 size. Congrats again! The art and color are unreal!

I have only a few of the smaller B2s... and am hoping to find something that I'd like in this larger size, one day, too.

There is currently an Ohrai museum exhibit going on in Japan displaying over 1,000 of his originals.
If you can't attend in person, I would highly suggest ordering the exhibit book.

I think €75 for a B1 of that poster is decent price. It's a great looking poster, my second favourite of his Godzilla posters after Godzilla vs King Ghidorah.
