I have a friend, Steve Rydzewski, who wrote the definitive biography on silent comedian Ben Turpin after 20 years of research:

https://www.amazon.com/Arts-Sake-Biography-Filmography-Turpin/dp/1593932634

At the last Profiles In History auction, they sold a handwritten manuscript of Ben's autobiography:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ben-Turpins-handwritten-unpublished-autobiography-with-other-corre-Lot-394-/112012199494?hash=item1a14728646%3Ag%3ACGYAAOSwOVpXWMiC

Steve has been trying to find out who the buyer was of this lot but so far has turned up nothing. He is looking to get in touch with the buyer about possibly publishing this manuscript. If anyone has ANY information as to who the buyer was and how they can be contacted, you can send me a PM here and I will send him the info.

Thank you!

Maybe the Profiles buyer of the manuscript has the same idea?  dontknow.gif

Will Profiles not help in any way, even acting as an intermediary, between the buyer and your friend, to help them get in touch?

Still, it might be worth asking and explaining the reason for inquiring. What's the worst that could happen? He gets a direct, NO reply, which at least confirms their stance, vs. wondering if PiH would or not.

I would think an auctioneer has a professional duty to pass on such an enquiry to his consignor.

Update: The guy contacted Profiles and they told him they would pass on his info to the buyer.
