But I forgot to mention.... This si the only non-photographic From Another Star poster I could find.  But I am not convinced it is Drew's work?

Is this the same one you found T?

This is EXCELLENT!  I also have recently added some of these:

-JUST A LITTLE INCONVENIENCE (AUS 1sh)
-HOTWIRE (US 1sh)
-FROM ANOTHER STAR (US 1sh)
-HOCUS POCUS (US 1sh DS serial number on back) > Got this from an eBay seller named "HollywoodToyPoster" > I couldn't find anything suggesting the seller is nefarious and the poster seems to look legit
-STAR WARS EP 2 (US 1sh DS has watermark on back) > Got this from the same eBay seller as above
-ALL'S FAIR (US 1sh) > this was purchased from movieposters.com with the MOTU poster I asked everyone about > but this one measured almost dead on at 27 x 41
-MOTHER LODE (US 1sh; fist style) > also from MP.com > Are we absolutely sure Drew did this poster?  I still can't find any comp art he has posted showing it off.

I have been waiting to find a good MARCH OR DIE that wasn't French (no offense!) as I want to be able to put in the 27x41 portfolio with the rest of the Struzans.  I still haven't been able to find a FRISCO KID that wasn't larger than 27x41.  I am also about to bite the bullet on purchasing a Spanish CABO BLANCO (slightly larger than 27x41) because there doesn't appear to be any other options that showcase the full art :( Sadly it wont be able to fit in a portfolio.

JAKE SPEED (Spanish) !? This is great!  I have not seen this before!  Fantastic!  Very jealous.  Also very curious about the DREAMSCAPE (French)... Is this the "different color" art that is referenced in on his website? Or is it identical tot he US version but just a French size poster?

Super cool T!  If only I had your resources!  Can't wait to see them all up on the website!

So I've added quite a few Struzans of late.  You know, the completist in me.  Movies I've never heard of, which is totally against my collecting habits (I must have seen to collect).

Killer Force
Car Wash
March or Die (French) (already own US B&W)
Just a Little Inconvenience (Aussie)
High Ballin'
The Norseman
The Frisco Kid (UK)
Hotwire
Cabo Blanco (Spanish)
Kill Squad
Borderline
Second Thoughts
Heat & Dust (30x40) (already own US)
Dreamscape (French) (already own US and UK)
Jake Speed (Spanish)
Hyper Sapien: People from Another Star
Masters of the Universe (the correct one  ;D)
All's Fair
Hocus Pocus (B1) (already own US)

My website is down right now (my tech guy is on vacation in Thailand!), some posters are still in transit, but everything shall be up shortly.  I still have a list of 20 posters to acquire before I can call it complete.  Half of those titles may not even exist.

Try to update here as new stuff rolls in, only new releases.

I can do direct sales or off the bay, kind of prefer the bay as I pay taxes on sales and like them handling all that sales tax non-sense!

One Battle After Another sets (not pristine mint on these, but solid)

Megan 2.0 pristine

Tron Ares Advance pristine

The one they have right now is the one T currently has. GENERALLY international will not have the ratings box, and it wouldnt have the Warner Home Video logo on it for theatrical distribution either.  Now this is a generalization as there have been all kinds of wonky distribution over the years.  Could just be the one up is a stock photo though as well.

Okie,  That IS a great story!  What a nice new beginning for that poster that is actually still linked with its past!  I was not familiar with this poster but just looked it up and that is a beautiful and colorful piece of art.  I agree with Starling and hope we soon get to see Betty framed up nice!  Congratulations!

I heard back from David at Movieposters.com and he assured me that the MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE poster is authentic and that "we're very careful where we source our Original posters from and this source has been reputable for over 30 years so I know these came direct from the studio all those years ago."  And I think I am happy with that answer and am going to keep the poster as Dale recommended.  Thanks again everyone for your expertise and advice on this!

He also mentioned that the poster they currently have up for sale is not a Video poster but an International style poster.  And I think based on their photo, the bottom of the poster looks a lot like T's poster.  So maybe T has an "International style" poster rather than a Video poster?  https://www.movieposters.com/products/masters-of-the-universe-mpw-75507

All joking aside though regarding Video posters and this particular one being an "ultra-rare" poster by strict interpretation of EMP item descriptions, I must admit that I have accidentally bought a couple posters that turned out to be Video posters instead of theatrical release posters. Doh.gif Turns out in each case, it was my own fault for not looking close enough at the grainy image(s) on eBay before impulsively hitting BUY NOW!  However, there are also actually a few cases I have willingly bought video posters despite many (most?) folks disliking them.  I almost wonder if some of them are (or will be?) quite rare since most people just dismiss and/or trash them.  Anyway, I think they can be particularly fun for some of these cheesy CANNON GROUP and other similar movies.  Seems to fit with the theme in my opinion and bring back good memories of looking for something to rent at Blockbuster.

Cheers everyone,
Mike

Love it!  As usual, your great anecdotes vs internal monologue make for a very enjoyable and fun read.  I think I can relate a lot to this as I buy a lot of "cheap" posters as well and never turn down free posters when they turn up (an eBay seller I have gone back to a few times now always sends along a few free posters with every shipment which I find cool)!  I also found it amusing that I too fall into the same trap of trying to pad the shipping costs which means I just keep spending more and more on posters trying to drive the "average per poster" cost down. laugh1

Anyway, complete agreement on most of these newer release movie posters just being bland and boring.  They have some vibrant colors but otherwise.....

My favorites from this set are 100% that sick title art on the IT'S ALIVE poster!  And I really like the art on that WILLOW poster!  I am familiar with the John Alvin versions so this is cool to see something different.  Looks like it is by Brian Bysouth.  I maybe almost prefer it to Alvin's--gasp!  In any case, I don't any of these versions yet, but I wonder if this version goes for a bit less than Alvin's commands??

Hang in there MAGG!  I hope there are more good days than bad ones ahead--I can't even imagine what it is like.  I also really hope you win one or more of your bucket-list items in the upcoming auction!  Looking forward to the next set of 10!

We want our August Major Auction to be another sensational auction, but that can't happen with help from a lot of YOU! Because it starts earlier than usual this year (July 13th), our final deadline to consign to it is June 13th, just 7 weeks from now!

Why send NOW, rather than waiting two months? Two reasons:
1) If you send your items NOW, we may use them in our preview ads, and, as has been proven over and over, items we preview often end up with higher prices, due to the increased publicity.

2) We often are consigned two examples of a single item, and, to be fair, we always auction the one we received first, so sending now greatly increases the chances your items WILL be in this auction.

WHAT kind of items are we looking for? If your item is NOT restored and linenbacked, it must be truly rare and very desirable, or else it will sell for more in our regular auctions, and that is what matters most.

If your items ARE restored and linenbacked, they must have an absolute minimum realistic selling price of $100 or more, and we do NOT want ANY restored or backed items that are in lesser condition due to low quality restoration, or damage due to rough handling.

Contact us today if you have items you feel fit in! Go to https://www.emovieposter.com/learnmore/?page=consign_major#augustmajor to see previews with some great items that are confirmed for this most special auction!

Hello, and welcome back. While this edition of the Shock-O-Rama Poster Show is less than exciting, it’s still all new… at least to me. Because it’s less than exciting, it should be an easy-breezy, quick-o read. There’s not much to see here. I’m not kidding. So let’s get this over with, shall we? Here we go…

DUNE PART TWO (Advance):
This poster and the three below it, were sent to me by friends. My friend Gillian’s husband Jason works for UPS. Now and again he gets shipments of movie posters from studios that are sent to a defunct movie theater. The instructions on the box apparently say to destroy contents if the addressee is undeliverable. But when Jason gets them, he saves some for me. This is the latest surprise batch I got earlier this week. They’re not great… Certainly not anything I would have purchased myself… But they were free and it was nice of them to send them to me.  I never saw the  new DUNE movie or the sequel. I know they were huge hits. This poster does nothing for me. Does it say anything to the DUNE fans? Whatever…

THE FALL GUY:
Another freebie. I’m not entirely sure, but I believe this movie was a huge flop when it came out. I didn’t bother to see it. I wasn’t really a fan of the original TV show it was spawned from either.

AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM:
Yet another free poster and another movie I never saw. I never even saw the original AQUAMAN. I’m not a superhero kind of guy. It didn’t appeal to me at all. I have no idea if this was a hit or not. I wasn’t even aware they were making AQUAMAN movies anymore.

FURIOSA:
This is the last of the posters that I was gifted with. I never saw this MAD MAX spinoff. Well, I have seen the original trilogy, and I believe I saw the one that came out a couple of years ago with Charlize Theron (FURY ROAD). I just had no interest in this one. Oh well. It was a free poster. I can’t complain.

SPELLCASTER (video):
This was an unexpected surprise. I’ve never seen this horror movie starring 80s popstar Adam Ant. One of my favorite boutique DVD companies, either Vinegar Syndrome or Severin, had made it available again, not too long ago. I don’t know if I have it and it’s in a pile somewhere to watch or if I didn’t bother to get it. I haven’t seen it still. This is just a curio. It was cheap, under $10 and with free shipping.. It’s just a video of poster. I don’t think there was a theatrical release for it. I’m not sure. The poster looks like it has some permanent roles in it. I’m hoping that, if I frame it, the plexiglass pushing on, it will remove the rolls. If not, like I said, it was cheap. Whoopie do.

IT’S ALIVE (International):
The next few posters are posters I picked up to pad out shipping from an overseas seller. I believe I already have a copy of this poster. I’m not sure if I like this poster or the alternate one featuring a baby carriage with this claw arm hanging out of it better. The title alone, in its bloody font, makes this poster worthwhile. I haven’t seen the IT’S ALIVE movies in a long time. I wonder if they’re worth a revisit? Hmm…

WILLOW (International):
I’m sure I saw this movie, but I don’t remember it. When I decided to grab this…to pad out the postage… I didn’t think I’d seen this poster before. An international poster? It seemed that way. When I decided to buy this, I mistook WILLOW for LEGEND. Oops! You’re probably wondering how I could do that. Well, Just like I’m not into superheroes,I’m not much of a fantasy person either.

ANDY WARHOL’S FRANKENSTEIN (German):
I actually already have a copy of this poster. I picked it up, not only to help pad out the cost of postage, but with the thought of reselling it at some point. The copy I’ve got seemed to have been kind of pricey, but I’m not quite sure. I hope I didn’t spend too much on buying this copy. Oops.

PHANTASM (French):
Another poster padding out postage. I dig the original. PHANTASM. I picked up this French copy as an investment. Hopefully…. The image really doesn’t work for me, but it wasn’t very expensive. Hopefully someone will dig it if and when I ever sell it.

DOOMED TO DIE (aka EATEN ALIVE) (French):
This is the poster I wanted most of all… But at the moment I have no idea why I wanted it so badly. EATEN ALIVE (better known here as DOOMED TO DIE) came in the middle of the cannibal sub genre frenzy of the 1970s and 1980s. Unfortunately, it is one of the least interesting. The US poster is so lame, I never bothered to get it. I do have a British quad though. I like that one much better. The quad, like this French poster, makes it look as if the movie is more shocking and graphic than it is. Directed by Umberto Lenzi (who kicked off the cannibal craze with THE MAN FROM DEEP RIVER aka SACRIFICE! in 1972), this 1980 is rather cannibal lite. The cast features Ivan Rassimov and Me Me Lai.who appeared together in MAN FROM DEEP RIVER. Mel Ferrer is also along for a paycheck. The most interesting casting is that of lead Robert Kerman. Kerman appeared in two other cannibal shockers; the infamous CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST and CANNIBAL FEROX aka MAKE THEM DIE SLOWLY. But it’s not his appearance in these gut munchers that makes Kerman’s appearance so notable. Kerman, under the name R. Bolla as well as several others, appeared in many, many adult movies while trying to carve out a career as a “legitimate “ actor. He appeared in such adult fare as DEBBIE DOES DALLAS, CORPORATE ASSETS, and SOCIETY AFFAIRS. Once word of his porno side hustle got out, it was bye bye acting career… Yes, even the Italian sleaze meisters wanted him gone!
Did I need this poster? No. Am I glad I got it? Not really. I don’t know why I fixated on this one. It’s nothing I need. I will never hang it.Oh well.

And that my friend is 10. Short, simple, and over with. I already have a good start on the next entry and may already have enough posters to fill it. However, I don’t think I all that much better after my surgery. Although I no longer have chemo, I still have immunotherapy. I don’t know what it is, but I have very little energy and am finding myself in bed more often than not. This helps contribute to a blood clot. I have recently been diagnosed with and have had to go on blood thinners for. I’m just not doing well. I think I will soon end my collecting days. As I stated, the next p Ohost is pretty much done, except for the laying out and the writing of it. I think I have the posters for it. There is an auction coming up that has several bucket list items. I can’t afford them. But if I can somehow get them, I think I’ll be done. I’m still going through my rolls and boxes and pulling out posters. I’m framing, throwing others in portfolios, and deciding which ones I can part with. My house is such a mess right now with posters everywhere. I just don’t have a whole lot of strength to deal with it at the moment.
Blah blah blah. I’ll shut up now. Thanks for visiting the page. Cheers.
