Just ordered another 2 ;D

I like the thin metal frame.
How much did this 'custom' job cost you?
-
Thanks, I got 10% off with free delivery, The total was £70.20, but I also ordered a backing board with that at a cost of about £9 which coincidentally was missing from the order :'( So I'll get them to add an extra one on my new order ;D

Looks good, gargoyle.
Congrats...

These are not bad. I like that they don't have a thick frame. Clean and elegant. Not bad.

Sleek, ultra thin frames!
Nice display, gargoyle!

Looking good, dude!

Very nice display.

These look nice, I'm thinking of buying a few frames for my linen backed one sheets and a quad frame.
Would you recommend these? Or does any kind UK collector recommend any other company?
Thanks
Marc.
-
Yes I would, They are very nice frames easy to change posters around and sturdy. They also do many other aluminium variants as well as wood of course thumbsup.gif.
-
I normally go to my local framers and have them custom made but must admit that those aluminium framed posters look very nice.

Nice. You should try and cut two dark matting slivers for the top and bottom... So the white doesn't distract from the image/effect of the poster.
Just a suggestion! :)
-
Looking good there, gargoyle!
Nice job.
cheers

Thanks guys,
@Crazy Vick, Thats not a bad idea although a lot of poster have a white boarder, May get some black board as you say though to shutter off the darker posters ;)

Your SW, BTTF, Jaws etc...they all have 4 white borders, all around it looks much better and blends in, but only the top and bottom bugs the crap out of me. I only say/share this because I have several framed that have the same issue, especially the German A1s. Another option is black (acid-free of course) paper behind the poster instead of expensive matting...it doesnt need to be the exact shade of dark, as long as its darker than the white it will just look better IMO (but then again I am crazy)
Keep it up! :)

You could say we're all crazy paying this much for a paper >:D

I think this weekend I will have to measure up the posters I want framed and get this project started!
-
Tad late, but some nice looking frames there.
I bought these from Hollywood Poster Frames.
Don't think they are as thin as yours, but pretty thin.
Acid free packing and plexiglass.

Anyone have an idea what size custom frame I'd need for a linen backed one sheet?
I mean is it best to tag an extra inch onto a one sheet frame to fit?
Apologies if this seems like a dumb question.

When you say custom frame, do you mean custom made but that allows a switch of posters? (e.g Spotlight Displays)
Mine are 28 x 42 fine for both one sheets, older one sheets, canadian older one sheets (28x42) and linen-backed OS.
-
Already done this ages ago but never got round to updating the thread ;) , funnily enough I've just ordered some more thin black cardboard that I plan on sticking down as the current board is just floating.
I've also descovered that I'm happy with just the black boarder just at the top on 40" posters no need really to have top/bottom as your eye naturally ignores the bottom not having one.

Yes, I have a few linen backed one sheets that I want to display and it needs to be very easy to switch from poster to poster.
I'm based in the UK and its quite difficult to find the right frames.

Just a small update to the boarder issue when using 27"x40" posters on my 27"x41 sexy slim frames :-*
I ditched my original idea of using slim black cardboard and found someone selling book repair tape on Amazon, it's ideal really as it's self-adhesive and acid-free.
Here are some pics of it being applied and finished>
Packaging, Note 3cm is the perfect width for 40" posters.
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b309/gargoyle67/Tape20info_zpsyyt4dpxe.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/gargoyle67/media/Tape20info_zpsyyt4dpxe.jpg.html)
Applying:

Close up of tape applied, Note the tape looks a bit gray in this shot but it's really jet black and you can see it's made of material/pattern which you can't see from distance/hanging:

Poster hanging with black repair tape at top and close up on second pic:
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b309/gargoyle67/Poster%20tape%20wide_zps80nifc8d.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/gargoyle67/media/Poster%20tape%20wide_zps80nifc8d.jpg.html)(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b309/gargoyle67/Poster%20Tape%20close_zpsvedeqkzw.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/gargoyle67/media/Poster%20Tape%20close_zpsvedeqkzw.jpg.html)
This is probably the best solution for using 40" posters on 41" frames, I've ordered 2 more repair tapes for my other 2 frames thumbsup.gif

Just a small update to my sexy slim frames, I snapped the corner off the perspex while swapping the posters around, So i of course went ott when ordering some new ones >:D The ones that came with the frames were only 1.5mm thick as pictured in the comparison pic, The new ones I ordered are 4mm faint2.gif So should be me proof eyeroll
New 4mm goodness>

Comparison 4mm>1.5mm (look how spindly the 1.5 looks !)

With the new thicker perspex I no longer need the frames backing spring clips..Yay

Well done
-
Looks great, gargoyle. thumbup

Too bad early pictures aren't there. So the problem was the aluminium frame behind too wide for 1.5mm perspex ?
Have consider buying these special art clips (sorry no idea of name in English) - https://www.asler.com/website/image/product.template/2518_4a72fd8/image/300x300
-
The problem was me snapping the corner off the old perspex, nothing to do with the clips.
Thanks guys :)

Just a quick update to my frames, I've now got some 27x40 ones so no borders thumbsup.gif >
