Thanks Jeff! Its a daily quest.
I spared everyone from seeing the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus Bus Shelter. Its a little too twerky I mean quirky :)
More coming this week.....and next week and the week after that....oh Noes My 'Lenticularitis' is flaring up again. I'd better go lie down.
But ya seriously thanks. I know theres a lot of titles that are very weak for lenticulars but I still enjoy the lesser ones too.
I am working on my semi quasi elite five star collector status lol

Told you all that his addcition to these things is worse then crack. I don't think that is all of them. I believe he has more. Now Jason you are working on your five star collector status of lenticulars. Just remember you need to work on getting some of the high quality paper out there. Such as that Dracula one sheet or hell even Frankenstein lmao. But anyways very nice Jason. I have already seen every one of those. Show mw something I haven't seen lol. I believe some of those I helped you find such as the Kill Bill if I recall.

Thank you. I'll post a short video any poster that anyone would like to see.
More pics coming of new arrivals soon too. My next chore is taking pics of about 4,000 paper posters that i recently alphabetized.

Great niche collection! I'm curious as to whether you've suffered from any shipping mishaps as lenticulars can be quite awkward to pack.

Mark

Luckily I have only had one mishap due to poor packaging. Luckily it was a Spy Kids (thick version).  The poster took a hit on a corner and lost a piece the size of a quarter accompanied with a crack about 3 or 4 inches.  I always ask how a seller is going to ship for my own piece of mind. I try to get the seller/packer to leave a 3 to 4 inch buffer around the entire perimeter that way if a corner is dinged the poster remains untouched.  as for the front and back the I really like using insulation sheets from home depot etc. Cheap and once encased in cardboard makes a pretty safe shield.  addition foam pieces around the corners is always appreciated.

In the case of Spy Kids it came from Heritage and the box had zero buffer around the poster.  Melissa at Heritage was awesome about the whole situation and I was offered a full refund and kept the poster.  I didn't really want to buy another one but I did anyways.  I have duplicates of many of my lenticulars as I find it hard to pass up a good deal and I pick up duplicates often.

A friend of mine has not been so lucky. He has had a seller try to roll a lenticular to stick in a tube to save on shipping. I believe the seller tried to roll it to make it fit in a 2 or 2.5 tube. It snapped into two pieces.  That is always a gamble, I have had a few sent rolled. Like a Lilo is very very thin and pliable and rolls fairly easily and is just as easily replaceable.   Same friend lost a Texas Chainsaw but not much the seller could have done better. (looked like a forklift had punched right through it and straight out the other side. Same friend also destroyed one due to his own incompetence. Sometime the lenticulars have a tacky spray mount around the edges on the back from installation at theatres.  He called and asked me what to do.  I told him use water and take it slow. Instead his Dad said just use some Wd-40 ?!? say what ?!?  Well he didn't do that, I again said just use water.  Having little patience he called the seller who gave him even worse advice.  They said use rubbing alcohol, holy crap! that is the equivalent to using fire to clean a paper poster.  Well he went ahead and tried and the artwork backing reacted and melted.  Goo gone is another approach but that even scares me.

Also I would love to hear everyone's opinions of lenticulars. Good or bad I appreciate any feedback. I wont get defensive, just looking for opinions and everyone's perceptions in terms of collectability or how the market has changed with them.  I greatly respect the collective knowledge of everyone here.  and as a bonus it would give Chris another thread to craft a masterfully witty comment. Ha!

Very cool Jason. With the market I feel it is just a hit and miss. Some are more desirable then others and even then when you do sell (if you do) it will be a matter of who wants it the most and what they are willing to pay.

Quite a collection.
I like the Captain America one at the end. Nice.

I have the ID4 one but it's one that came with the video. 4 x 6.
You can have it if you like.

Dave.

Great collection, really like some of those. I like how some just enhance the depth (like the Cap America and Avatar) and some completely change (like the one for Shadowbuilder!).

What size is that Wolverine one? Not seen that before.

Hey Tob! Everything is a US one-sheet size unless noted above the picture. Tookj me all Sunday to move all these posters around.  What a work out!
The worst part is putting the plastic protective sleeves back on them!

The Aladdin, looking at it it may or may not be obvious, "flips" between the two images but its the same poster.

More pics of Bus shelters coming to a thread near you soon. Hopefully this week

Lightboxes and Lenticulars are a match made in heaven.
Lenticulars are meant to be backlit, really shows the true color in all its 3D glory.
The thinner lenticulars (higher LPI -Lens per Inch) display fairly well without being backlit, but really pop when they lit up.
The thicker styles (lower LPI really require backlighting. Some are very difficult to see any detail without lighting them up.
I know of a couple that use a technique called raster barrier (no lenticular ridges on the surface and is smooth) that are basically black without having light going through them.  The Nightmare Before Christmas uses that technique.

Nice Ghost Riders, that film (series) posters have always appealed (and I don't' do 'modern' as a rule)

so whats up with their picture? vertical line in image? and is it a very thin lenticular like your ring 2?
Title: Re: Edge's Lenticular Collection
Post by: AdamCarterJones on February 03, 2014, 10:02:32 AM
Hey Jason.
Vectis haven't been doing posters for long; properly only since Oct '13.
Their photographers do everything and are learning all the time with new things the company sell.

That line - odd. First time I have noticed it, so thanks for pointing it out.
I will have a look at it as I am there on Friday.

It's pretty thick - feels more sturdy than a typical lenticular - not a cheapy either and is so rare.

Spoke to Vectis today and they have retaken the shot.
The fold lines were paper used to show the lenticular image better, not on the actual lenticular.

Quite a collection! Grab the NBC's and a Space Odyssey and it's the greatest ever.
It astonishes me how many of these have been produced the past ten years.Fifteen years ago I was wondering why they don't make more of them.Great the call was answered but, unfortunately, most of them just didn't do anything for me.The images were often lame, the fields of depth were lacking, just disappointing. There are a few in the past ten years I dig,Monster House is cool, looks like a good quality production.

Besides Space Odyssey and the NBC's (their rarity puts tem in another class) most the pre-'04 lenticulars have a actually come down a bit in price.Lost World,Frighteners...you can find one cheaper than you could fifteen years ago.
It's funny to see the usual sellers with stuff like ET and Lilo listed at $125...was $75 back then.....and even that was way too high! :)

The newer ones are priced insane!! $200 for a Monster House,$200 for an Ice Age....highway robbery! Anything new that comes out is automatically $200-300....stupid! Market value hasn't changed much but gouging is has become standard procedure across the board.
Spiderman and Avatar are unreal too me.Thousands for those? I realize Spidey is the man and Avatar is huge, but those images aren't worth the money.Too me,a great lenticular is one with a great image and good quality,Frighteners,NBC's,Odyssey,Lost World.Material like that is the total package.

Bottom line,if you're collecting for investment, the majority of these will only dip in value in the coming years.
If you're collecting cuz ya just love em',then you have fun road ahead. :)

Happy collecting,

Anthony

I too get a kick at the same sellers with crazy prices for the lenticulars on ebay. Tom Loce for instance asks 5000 for Avatar and occassionally drops the price. I see the pricing go in waves.  I often ask them did they accidentally add a zero to their price.
So once someone who comes across some lenticulars and prices them by what they see on ebay they think they are sitting on gold! lol
there is a seller on ebay local to me that has valued his posters according to Loce.  $4,000 for a Ghost Rider!!
I had a wonderful convo about a Species lenticular that he wanlted 650 for it lol.
So Anthony thanks for checking these out and just posted the Monster House 4 x 6 ft lenticular.  one of my One Sheet Monster House is a prototype. lots of artworks changes for the final version.  Also an underrated Lenti is Texas Chainsaw  Great Depth

stay tuned for a couple more bus shelter pictures

Haha,"accidentally add a zero"...aint that the truth! The only one that should be in that range is the Space Odyssey.

Matrix and Monster House are stellar!!

The only thing that ever kept me from buying the larger lenticulars is the light box. I would definitely have to learn how to build a light box. :)

Jurassic Park 3D Lenticular Movie poster
Finally found this poster locally from a friend of friend in Maryland. another checkbox complete.
Definitely harder to find than the Lost World Lenticular and more scarce. I'll make a comparison video of the two down the road.

Found a few but my "friends" weren't giving them up.
A majority of the lenticulars in the first 3 pages of this thread are hard to find.
many many months looking for jurassic, pirates, and many I never see available.
but that what makes it fun...I bet those Ballesters are a challenge!

Why, poster gods, WHY?!?! :D

Is that a standee lenticular? That would look uber-sweet next to one of those matrix standees.

Thankfully no its not a Standee size and is the much more manageable one sheet size.  The standees are out there somewhere but I think I am out of looking or buying any more....13 standees/bus shelters is enough.....well until the next one :/

I thought that's what the new addition to the living quarters was for: Edge's House of Lenticulars (the waiting area uses bus shelters to house your bus shelters, in case you forgot). :)

Lots of Ballesters are available... most of them above $2K, some waaaaay above.  The challenge is to find them at a fair price.

And to answer your question about the lenticulars, no, I don't have connections.  I own a few, but I don't collect them.  I have doubts about their longevity.

The ones that I own are JP (both versions), ET (20th Anniversary), Monster House, Nightmare Before Christmas (reissue), Lilo and Stitch, The Day After Tomorrow (hard and soft versions) and The Ring 2.  Maybe a couple more but I can't remember.

Anyone else out there pick up some Lents lately?

I have a confession. I just sold about 20 lenticulars and will be making more available very soon.  I will them post on APF first. I guess pm me if anyone is wanting something. I have duplicates of some (not 10 lilos or anything silly like that) and have about 70-80 lenticulars left in my collection. most of which are shown in the 4 pages of this thread.

As a COLOSSAL 'Jurassic Park' fan, TLW Lenticular poster has always been a dream of mine to one day own. The JP3D one is okay IMO but it bugs me that the Rex isn't 100% movie accurate in design and I hate the gimmick of 3D re-releases...

Slightly off topic, but I have 2 of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Lenticulars. Both are about 1/4" thick. One has a very smooth back while the other has some very shallow dimples. (dimples have no effect on the poster from the front)  Both arrived in the original "studio" packaging. Has anyone seen something like I described? Any clue what could have caused it? Just a manufacturing glitch?

I sure have slacked off on this thread....not many newer releases.

USMC8808 are the dimples small air bubbles? its it a smattering of a dozen small ones  or is the entire back surface seem to have a pattern of dimples with no air bubbles (rippling)?  Love this lenticular and Halloween is coming up soon.

And my worst nightmare has come true...Dropbox no longer allows me to link pictures to APF. All my posts to APF have vanished. Many 100's of photos...ouch.

yeah, thats a shitter, i gave up on the free stuff long ago. Not that the 4.00 a month stuff is much better, but i get sqlserver, asp.net support, mailboxes and all that good stuff in addition to unlimited traffic and disk space (supposedly, never tested the bounds of that one)

How long ago did they warn you of this impending doom?

I think it was a 2 or 3 month warning.

No more "shared folder", so no more hotlinking as geek call it.  Hotlinking is to upload an image in a server and use the URL to show the image in other servers (it is bad for the first server, it uses resources and no hits).

Too bad !!!  Since that day when Google killed Google Reader, I learned that fully relying on free platform sucks.

And the bad news for you and APF is that there is nothing you can do for all your previous posts.  For new post, Dropbox recommends you to use the share link (photo will not be visible, user will have to click to view image on Dropbox website).

But lot of images are disappearing on this forum with time, even mine disappeared because I changed name of my folder on Pinterest.

Any solution for APF to make sure images are there.  Well, there are a few.

- First one, easiest one, if APF can afford extra data usage and space, they can allow pictures to be uploaded directly on their server.

- The other method, more tricky and time consuming, is basically to ask users to upload picture not on their respective platform but on ONE platform which is shared by everybody... like using a free platform or file repository online and give access to share album or whatever to members here so that they can upload stuff...

1. Create or open a wordpress but exclusively with private access (wordpress or something else).
2. Register users in wordpress and provide password to user.
3. User BA writes a post on APF and want to attach a picture.
4. He goes to the wordpress, create a post in which he upload the pictures, then get URL of the post
5. Back to APF, he post the URL of photo just like before.

Hey Jason,

I just went up to your most recent post above, that had imges and went to look at the actual gif ang jpg urls directly and both gave me a 404 error saying that the file was gone or moved. Did you (or did they) dump your picture library or main folder with all the imagery?

The photos are all safe and sound in their respective folders on dropbox but all the links have changed. Looks like I am still able to hotlink. But all the old hotlinks are no longer working. Kinda makes no sense that they still allow me to hotlink but killed off all the old links. I am sure it was an incredible load to dropbox's bandwidth and server resources. But damn if I can still hotlink now are they going to do this again to me in the future?

Thats a drag. I was hoping, based on what BigBoss said, that if your image urls were taken out of the img tags, then we could all just click and look directly, via dropbox. Seems that wont be the case. Grrrr.  :-\

And yeah.. that is really too weird that u can hotlink new stuff. Are they playing cat and mouse, or what?  stickpoke.gif
