I would also be interested to hear whether anyone has had experience buying from At The Movies in London and can confirm whether they are legit?

Legit, and expensive.

But, they are paying for shop frontage in London.

No kidding! I saw they had an unfolded version of a poster I wanted that was up for sale for £600 (From research and other sales, it's worth around £200), though not expecting much, I thought I would drop them an email to see if anything could be done price wise..

They emailed back photos of an unfolded version of the same poster, told me they had linen backed it and said they could give me it for £725! I did see the funny side. But there is more to the story..

I checked their website to see why the poster was all of a sudden folded only to see the unfolded version still on there for £600, but now there is an unfolded version showing as well for £425!

So I emailed seeing if a deal could be made on the unfolded £600 version originally, and they tried selling me the folded (£425) version, with linen backed (£175) and said that I could have the folded version (£425) for £725 (£175 extra than what it is showing on their site + £175 for linen back minus the £50 of the linen backed that I didn't ask for) as a "deal".

So they decided to up the folded version by £175, then linen back it, take £50 off the linen backing and present that to me as a deal?!

Hahaha that's funny.  Obviously you now know to stay away from them.  They’re outrageously expensive anyway.

Apparently they have now permanently closed.

A good friend did not have the best buying experience from them.  A poster was advertised as mint, upon turning up it was smashed about at the corner.  An American chap he had already paid for it online, he was just in town to pick it up.

He was told, 'We will find a mint copy for you, but you can't have a refund.'

He received neither the mint copy, nor the refund.  Rubbish.

They asked for my number to contact me and explain the differences. I thought I would give the benefit of doubt to see whether they may of just got confused, though I haven't received that call yet.

I have an update on this.

She never called me, I decided to call her.

The way she attempted to "explain the differences" was all a bit muddled to say the least.

All she said was that she had a folded one that had a ratings box which is why it was £600. I pointed out that there was an unfolded version on the site for £600 and a folded version for £425.. Nothing else. Her response was that they had "linen backed it". Which I struggle to see what that has to do with prices being advertised for 2 seperate posters without linen back on their site but there you go.

I then said that I have seen this posters sold in the US for around $200 at auction (eMovie), her response "If you think you can get one for under £400 then good luck darling."

She then proceeded to say that they need to make money as well (I agree), and that she's "looking on eBay now and there is one for $190", though she didn't state what condition, whether it was single sided, folded, unfolded etc.

At this stage I just said if you do get one come available please let me know, or I will keep an eye on the site.

Though by the sounds of it they just purchase them from eBay anyway.

Still no clearer on why when I enquired about the £600 rolled version, she proceeded to try and sell me a linen back folded one for £725.. When it was advertised on their site for £425.

All a bit odd, including her attitude.

That sounds headache inducing. Maybe for the best they're now out of business..
