Inspired by Carson's Clash of the Titans thread, i started thinking what original props I would love to own, if I could afford them (which I mist certainly cannot). Of course, there could be a whole forum on Bond or Star Wars props. But as I began looking, I seemed to gravitate away from weapons because they often arent very recognizable. For example, how easy would it be to tell the difference between a Kill Bill Hanzo sword and one used by Zatoichi? Anyway, here are a few of my favorites.

Nice picks! I love the Total Recall taxi!
Here is a pair I'd like to own...

The ones that immediately came to mind:
-
Those are all great and Michael J. Fox's hoverboard comes to mind.
But, uh, for me, if I could have any movie prop, above all, it would most likely be from Scarlett Johansson's wardrobe department..

And you can have one (of the two) next time it surfaces at auction. Watch out though... last time (http://www.christies.com/LotFinder/lot_details.aspx?from=searchresults&intObjectID=2439184&sid=2bdffb27-c3e4-4948-8f26-f68f5fda63ca) it went for a tad more than its projected $30-50K sale price! I wouldn't be surprised if it goes for even more next time around ;)
BTW, yes the props I listed are from Blade Runner. I wish someone would make some knock-offs so I can have a full set of those scotch glasses!

Ryan Reynolds probably gets all the side boob he can handle...
-
Oh and as for the Falcon...
I did not realize it was the ACTUAL falcon that was stolen from John's Grill - sadly it appears it has never turned up despite a reward (the $ was used to buy a 150 lbs larger bronze and lead sculpture as a replacement)

Really cool stuff in this thread.

On display in Germany, (and not the best shot) but the second display from the left shows 3 original costumes from NOSFERATU. Easily seen are Count Orlock's signature long, buttoned topcoat and cap, as well as (maybe Mina's dress?) and a second topcoat. One may be from the original 1922 production and the other from Werner Herzog's 1979 remake.
Outstanding stuff!! happy1

Thanks for sharing Jeff. I love these kind of exhibitions. I went to the one at the V&A in London last Xmas to see the original costumes for Gone with the Wind, Star Wars, Cleopatra (1932) and many, many more. Just incredible to be able to see these pieces of film history..! :)

The thing about Kinski is that he could wear no prosthetics or makeup and still be a terrifying vampire

Indeed.
Why do you think he was cast in the first place?? ;D

It's a shame Kinski's Nosferatu was Crap, but I think that was down to production more than his performance...
But, excellent pics Jeff.

Yeah, cool pics. I love that Batmobile, a great bit of design.

I'm not a fan of Convertibles, but that XKR is quite the ticket, love the colour too...

Great shots, Neo... and that museum knows how to put a car or 2 on display, that's for sure.

Yeah, cool pics. I love that Batmobile, a great bit of design.
I still think Batman (1989) is awesome. The car is on permanent display there, while the others in the Hollywood area are all temporary. My favorite in that area is the BMW for Mission Impossible. The design is rad, and the paint, wheels, etc. are all excellent.
Here's another shot of the bike from Batman (1966), that shows the sidecar:

I agree, Paul, that Jag is sweet.
Great shots, Neo... and that museum knows how to put a car or 2 on display, that's for sure.
Their setups for most of the museum are great. A few of them almost seem real, like the DIY garage with the chopped lead sled, the speed shop with the '32 Ford on a '29 frame, motors, and performance parts, the showroom that looks how one would have looked in the early '50s, etc.

Thank you, sir. It was an awesome trip. Anybody thinking about doing a cross-country road trip should make a plan and do it. If any of y'all want to check out the photos chronicling my Road Trip 'Merica, send me a PM. I would just post the link, but to avoid spammers, bots, etc. it's probably better to not post it. There's not any poster stuff on there, but there are a lot of photos of awesome stuff such as: artworks from various museums, National and State Parks, cities, roads, etc. It's set to public so anyone with a Facebook account can see it.

No problem. Why wouldn't some of you guys in Australia (or anywhere) get the opportunity to visit the USA? Are you forbidden from entering the country or something? If not, then I'd say you should save up some funds, plan a trip, and do it. Traveling and seeing all the sights, the different cultures, and everything is an awesome experience.

Ive been to USA, had fun.
Only really saw las Vegas though.
probably the reason most of us dont go, or not often or it doesnt excite us so much is we are constantly bombarded with America, Movies, Television, Music, so it doesn't feel like a different culture or it doesnt feel so exotic.
plus you guys and your damn guns ;)

If you only saw Las Vegas, you missed a lot. There are so many awesome places in the USA. I spent 2 months on the road, at a fairly fast pace, and there were a lot of places that I missed. Fortunately, I did get to see a lot of the country, and I'm sure that traveling to a different country or countries around the world would be an even more eye-opening experience. Even if you've been bombarded with American culture (or any other culture) via TV, etc., seeing it in person is really the only way to see what it's really like.

I was doing a little research on the Ferrari 250 GT California from Ferris Bueller's Day Off. In 2008, it sold for $10,874,000. One of the most expensive cars ever sold.

One of the two stunt cars used in most of the scenes in Ferris Bueller's Day Off sold recently for $235,000 at Mecum Auctions. It wasn't the car used at the end, that was the third car, and it was just a rolling chassis replica Ferrari. Although the one that recently sold is a replica Ferrari, it looks pretty darn nice, especially now with a great restoration. http://www.nydailynews.com/autos/bueller-ferris-bueller-ferrari-sold-auction-article-1.1439588 (http://www.nydailynews.com/autos/bueller-ferris-bueller-ferrari-sold-auction-article-1.1439588)

Not actually a prop, but a piece of a set, that no longer exists, let alone the stage it was built on. crying
This is a piece of a plaster column from Stage 28, at Universal. It later became known as 'the Phantom stage.' Back in 2006, when i was working there, I took my brother, who had come out here for work, on a little tour. The doors of Stage 28 were open and no production was using it or shooting on it, so we got to wander to our heart's content.
We walked up the old wooden stairs behind the opera boxes, and eventually made out way to Box 5, too. We then went up to the higher tier. Off to one side was a trash can that had some rubble in it, including this piece. It had likely gotten broken, when some crew member had allowed a piece of scaffolding to hit this part of the set. moron1
I fished it out of the trash, asked the guard who was at the door if it was Ok to take (he said sure) and especially on a day like today, wanted to share it here. devil 2

It's a shame that they had to tear that historic place down. There's only so much room in an ultra prime real estate area like that, so it's understandable, but still sad to see it go. It's cool that you got to see it when it was still there.
Hard to believe that such an accident would happen to a place like that, and then just to throw a broken piece in the trash can. Wow.
Good eye in spotting that, and resurrecting it. Very neat piece of history. I wonder if there are any other similar things from there, that were saved before the demolition. In any case, congrats.
-
Yeah, Brandon, i am so glad that I got to explore and walk thru that stage a number of times. But even when walking thru with my brother that one time, there was collapsed scaffolding leaning against the plaster opera boxes. Their idea of "protecting" it, was to place clear plastic sheeting (visqeen) between the heavy metal scaffold supports and the 80 year old plaster. hitself moron1

In obtaining this, Props to you
-
Thanks, Steve.
Here is a shot of one of caps of the columns as it stood and appeared on Stage 28, before it all came crashing down. (Tho Universal says the set was dismantled and placed into storage, somehow, before the stage building was demolished).
It was off of one of these, that the piece I rescued, came from.

But here I am jealous as shit.

Plus, the 1925 Chaney version of Phantom is one of my all time faves, and has been since I first saw it, on regular 8mm film, that we rented from the local library, when i was about 13. I was hooked and in awe of his appearance. It also inspired me to get into the area of work I do today, too.

Even better, I am happy you have a unique piece of its history

Hey Jeff! Wanna double your money on that piece??? thumbsup.gif

How did I miss this...
I know we've talked about the Phantom stage before Jeff, but to have a piece of it is amazing, well done for getting it, and saving at least a piece of it. notworthy.gif
Oh, and I'll QUADruple the offer..... ;D (first time I've out bid Lyn....)

Thanks, Paul.
I feel fortunate and happy to have a small piece of that film's story and history, that's for sure. :)

Damn, what a great story!
Couldn't happen to a more worthy dude than you, Jeff.
cheers

And a great little article about the 10 most expensive movie props ever sold (as of March 30, 2016, when this was written):

Zowie! Thanks for posting that link, Jeff. The GOLDFINGER Austin Martin was the most expensive prop!?! Not a huge surprise, really. Somewhere I have a picture of me with my fat, old, saggy butt sitting in it (legs outside though). Such an awesome car! I got to see two or three original Bond cars a few years back. I'll see if i can find the photos...

Very cool, Shawn! Post 'em if you come across them! thumbsup.gif

I watched the rad flick The Place Beyond the Pines recently. I was using the Google search engine today and stumbled on this.

This appeared in Good Will Hunting. Sotheby's auctioned it a few days ago, as part of Robin Williams' estate.

In Good Will Hunting (Miramax, 1997), the present watercolor—painted by the film's director, Gus Van Sant—was displayed in the office of Sean Maguire, played by Williams. When Will Hunting (Matt Damon) has his first therapy session with Sean, the characters' interactions come to centre on the painting. As Sean attempts to get to know Will, he asks if he likes art. "It's a real piece of shit," Will replies, spying the watercolor perched on the windowsill. "Uh, just the—the linear and impressionistic mix makes a very muddled composition. It's also a Winslow Homer rip-off, except you got Whitey uh...rowin' the boat there," Will observes. "Well, it's art, Monet...wasn't very good," Sean interjects. "That's not really what concerns me, though," Will continues. "It's the coloring." Sean, trying to conceal his increasing discomfort with humor responds: "You know what the real bitch of it is? It's paint by number." As it evolves, this is, arguably, one of the most significant scenes in the film. Beyond its immediate thematic importance, this painting introduces the subject of Winslow Homer, whose artwork significantly influenced the film's overall aesthetic.

Yeah, considering the significance of that piece, I'm not sure why they would put such a low estimate on it. Maybe because it's the work of someone who's not an "elite" painter. The estimates on a lot of stuff there were really low, but that's about the farthest off difference in realized price I've seen.

Gotta say, I like the painting.. and Van Sant has a good artist's hand, too. 8)

That's one way to keep the movie authentic - wrecking an awesome Lamborghini. faint2.gif I wonder what this will sell for, and what the new owner will do with it - rebuild it, keep it as is, etc.
