Let's see:
- 200 million years ago Australia was over the South Pole and a bit frigid.
- 40,0000 years ago humans first arrived there.
- 200 years ago the Brits dropped off some convicts there.
All of which naturally and logically led to.... the production of some extremely cool movie posters made by or for Australians!
So let's see your best Aussie posters (or ones you'd like to own), preferably posters with unique and superior art compared to other countries.

I've already shared probably my BEST ones in other threads.
These have all been shared on NSFGE but it can't hurt to add to the wealth here right?
Here are some more nice ones:

Great stuff, Chris. Now, are most of those "unique" to Australia?
-
I would say no as a general rule Mel.
The artwork generally follows the US artwork (either a US insert or US 3 sheet). Sometimes the artwork is 'toned down' to be less graphic i.e. a gun will be omitted - sometimes the film titles are retitled.
Most aussie posters are lithographs which makes the artwork unique even if it follows the same general outline of the US artwork.

That Eye Witness daybill is an absolute classic.

The Haunted And The Hunted daybill is outstanding!!!! The rest are pretty damn good, too, I might add

It is definitely one the best and most popular daybills out there. As an FYI it is actually for Dementia 13.
The other great thing about it is that it is not very rare at all and can usually be found for a nice price!

Here's one of my favourites from my collection:

Fabulous artwork for this 80's classic.

Very nice - and I prefer it to the American version (although it has unique style):

Australian Wilding. Eyecatching.

That's pretty funny: I would have listed Everything that's here. But, my favorite from Australia is Peter Weir's Picnic at Hanging Rock. One of my favorite movies and posters.

Great indeed, except that I've always chuckled over the fact that Michelle Pfeifer looks like an old drag queen with a boob job in this particular art.

Here are some of my favourite, more "modern" posters from Australia:
Best poster for the movie in my humble opinion

A favourite movie, this is for the DVD release of the film. The theatrical release one sheet is also different, but not as nice...

Welcome back Ves ;D

Our unwashed cousins at NS4 have temporarily stopped trying to gross each other out and have posted a terrific "Australian One Sheets" thread (http://stylec.yuku.com/topic/6879/t/PYP-Australian-one-sheets.html).

Looking at those lovely daybills prompted me to dig out the few that I own.
This is the only long daybill I have:
(http://[URL=http://s1146.photobucket.com/user/cartinmild1/media/rsz_1rsz_1rsz_1daybill_billie_dove_zpsdhexpb1i.jpg.html])(http://i1146.photobucket.com/albums/o524/cartinmild1/rsz_1rsz_1rsz_1daybill_billie_dove_zpsdhexpb1i.jpg)
A previous owner must have had it in a place exposed to sunlight and also at the same time covered by books or such like as there is a faded block of space on the top border and (less obvious) diagonally down from the Billie lettering along the left hand border. Not sure if this is one of those issues which can't be addressed by restoration but it's still a nice poster.
I also have these daybills for some old British classics:

Martin, those are gorgeous. Beautiful artwork and all in great condition. And your Billie Dove is a knockout, too! thumbsup.gif
-
Thanks, Jeff. Did you give a helping hand to sort my photos out as I couldn't get them to load properly? If so, thanks for that - if you didn't, I don't know how the hell they got on here!
-
Hey Martin... yeah... i noticed that none of your pics were showing up, so lended a hand. ;)
To get your pics to show, all you need to do is place the jpg url between the image.gif tags, and your pic will appear in your post.
-
Ok, thanks. I will get the hang of it eventually - and Photobucket was so...slow, I was losing the will to live.

All the ads and pop ups/ vid clips are making it a nightmare. And yet they claimed no more than a few weeks ago that they had made site upgrades to make it all more user friendly. :-\
-
God yes, PB is horrendous.
It is why popping more up here is woeful; my resolve flags every time I even think of the commitment, time and energy needed.
-
Glad you stuck it out, martinc.
Those daybills are gorgeous.

Yes, it's nice isn't it - the lovely Deborah Kerr in one of her earliest films. Yellow backgrounds seem to figure a lot in Australian daybills around this period (or at least the ones I have) which make them really stand out.

And I seem to recall seeing or reading that this same daybill image was used on a DVD re-release (the case art). Fitting imagery, to be sure. thumbup

Part of the daybill image was used on the BFI DVD & Blu-Ray releases:
