One of my 67,000+ customers posed a question to me that REALLY has me puzzled. It SEEMS like there should be an obvious answer, but when I reflected on it, I was not even sure what the top candidates are!
Here it is: "What would you say is the most owned movie poster (original or reproduction)? The one that is most commonly found in collections?".
So NON-movie posters (like images of top stars) ARE excluded, but commercial copies of movie posters are NOT. And of course most serious collectors are very few, if any, repros.
I could tell you where my thinking led me, but I would first like to hear what YOU think.
Please don't leave me hanging! There are NO bad answers!

Back to the Future and Revenge of the Jedi, hands down!!!

Jaws.

Like others already mentioned Back to the Future, and Jaws.
I would also guess,
Jurassic Park
Pulp Fiction
Exorcist
ET
Alien?
-
I'd say Jaws. It's the most common movie poster ever, forever showing up at auctions on an almost weekly basis. There seems to be a never-ending supply of copies available.
-
I'd guess either Jaws or Star Wars (Tom Jung artwork).

another vote for the star wars con (https://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/search/revenge%2520of%2520the%2520jedi/tag/nation%253AU.S./tag/xtype%253Aone-sheet/tag/decade%253A1980s/archive.html)

All of the above are right on.
Which is why people should collect rolled Star Wars, rolled Jaws, rolled back to the future advance, and everything in absolute MINT condition. Just to spice it up a little and get something a little harder to get.

I don't see how it could be anything but Star Wars

Star Wars A.

At one point, just about every kid my age owned the Factors Hildebrant Star Wars poster. That, and those Farah Fawcett posters were everywhere.
I still have a copy of the Star Wars in terrible condition, but I can't part with it. Most are lost to time.
So if the question is the most owned of all-time, especially in 1977, 1978 and 1979, the Factors Star Wars poster is my answer.
If the answer is the most owned in collections of people who frequent this website, then I agree with the previous answers. It would be Star Wars, Jaws or BTTF.

Scarface. Collectors have them. Every wanna-be (and actual) gangster/drug dealer has a commercial one.

I'd guess ... Star Wars (Tom Jung artwork).

Star Wars A.
Add me to this list - Although not quite as ubiquitous as it once was, it is still the definitive image for the phrase "movie poster". When you add in potential number of available copies along with the sustained interest over time, then I don't think that it's a remotely close race.

And somehow the rolled style A at Heritage right now is over $10,000!
Not a proof, variation, or anything else - just a very nice shape A.
I think that shows the unrelenting demand for this poster

After spending the last few years on the Star Wars Movie Poster fan page on Facebook, I would put nothing past that fan base. They scare me.
