The Struzan Ladyhawke is a great poster!  A must!  The rest isn't bad either.

Finally received this teaser from Japan. John did a better design for Mulan.

First time to see this one!  Really cool thumbsup.gif
Was it the Yahoo Auction one at the end of March?

Bit more Rambo...

101 cm x 36 cm, advertising the movie in the Kanto region of Japan (Tokyo, Yokohama, Kawasaki).

Not in as good condition as the B1, there are some staple marks but the edges are pretty good  :)

Yep. Last time I saw one anywhere was a few years ago. I was randomly browsing through the auctions and found it :)

Since there are no posters to buy (a dry spell since the start of Covid), I decided to start collecting books hahaha...  And since I am a big Stephen King fan, I decided to start collecting all of his 1st editions.  I just started with Carrie and The Shining.  Man, true first printings aren’t cheap.  Most are in the thousands.  This is an education, because I know nothing about it.  It’s going to be fun!

Anyone else collects books?  I know Antoine and Holiday do.

That's great T, collecting firs editions of books by authors that you love is really fun!  As you know I've been collecting first edition and rare books for years, but mostly 16th century through late 18th century.  More recently I started looking for first editions of modern authors that I like (such as Raymond Chandler, James Cain, and Dashiell Hammett, but also some contemporary horror writers like Stephen King and Philip Straub) on eBay, where sometimes they can be had for cheap.

I do, T. Though, not even close to as aggressively as when I was much younger. I still look for deals on rare/cool books in flea markets, antique stores, second hand shops, and the few used book stores that are left.  I still enjoy the hunt for what catches my eye.  Okie

I feel like I just opened Pandora's boc :)

I can't even imagine how much you spent on 16th century books.  I'm sure it's multiple thousands.  Probably much more than that.  I'm just focusing on King for the time being, but once I'm done with him, I might go to the next best thing.  I love Maupassant.

Nice haul, gargoyle 67. I like the Struzan Ladyhawke and that rolled Aliens. I'm pretty fond of the Avengers posters too.

I like that Alvin design for Mulan, Wormie. I have one, but it's in rough shape, yours looks in great condition!

Hicks77, nice First Blood. Do you know much about horizontal/landscape B1s? Do they still get used in Japan?

No, not so much, I haven't seen a horizontal B1 for any films of the 2000s (but I'm still relatively new at this poster thing!).

Actually the most valuable first edition I own isn't from the 16th century, but instead is a 4-volume set of Albertus Seba's Locupletissimi Rerum Naturalium Thesaurii, published between 1734 and 1765.  It constitutes a record of one of the great 18th-century "cabinet of curiosities", and ranks among the most desirable natural history books.  It's a massive folio book, lavishly illustrated with 446 plates depicting both flora and fauna.  Taschen Book published a reprint in 2001, under the title "Albertus Seba: Cabinet of Natural Curiosities".

I have briefly considered and just as quickly dismissed the idea of the UK Bond Firsts.

Of the 14, perhaps 12 are eminently affordable.  But to collect the set means being prepared to drop £25k on Casino Royale.

And since I like sets of everything...  :(

i have a few Bessie Love lobby cards and photos but never imagined i'd ever get a twenties one sheet of hers
the seller said it was owned by harrison ford himself (not that one starwarsfans ;D) which is kind of cool
it was framed and had had its white border trimmed off but i won't be getting it a new border (or linen backed!)

Wow, Redman, that Rubber Tires sure is a rare treasure! A big congratulations are in order!  Bessie Love was such an important early actress.  It's a real pleasure too see. Very cool.  Okie

^thanks. yes, i want to read her biography but i don't fancy spending £100 on a book which is cheapest i have seen it for
this interview from seventies UK tv is worth a watch if you've not seen it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=md3ljrggTaY
sadly it is too brief - she must be mid-70s at least and still looks great
(if youtube blocks this in USA but you would still like to see it just let me know)

Thanks for sharing the Bessie Love BBC interview, Redman.  I really liked her in The Lost World, especially.  Fun to hear her dad knew Tom Mix and the fates took over from there. I didn't know she had moved to England and worked in acting there later in life. Nice to learn new-old facts. Okie

I haven't bought many posters lately, it seems that there aren't a lot of opportunities these days.  I just received in the mail this Italian 2F for The Land Unknown, which has some fun graphics based on the original Reynold Brown artwork done for the US 1/2 sheet and 3-sheet.

Same here, Antoine.  It's been super dry lately.  I buy 1,000 posters a year on average, and unless I buy 400 posters in the next month, I'll be 400 posters short  ;)  It hasn't happened since I started collecting, some 19 years ago.  Obviously, there are no new movies out there, but even with the older stuff, there is nothing.  Sad.

Nice poster btw.

check out the "Stephen King Rare Editions" group on facebook and thedarktower.org. They are great sources of info on Stephen King collecting. I collect signed/numbered books from small press publishers (subterranean press, centipede press, etc).
