Got it for a few 100s , not bad when you consider a very nice shape sold for 3k........for yrs this was lying around so Im very happy its finally been backed (incomplete but he told me he couldnt find good enough image to repro the missing part)

Different faces/art than standard version , at first i wasnt sure if i would be able to meet him as one day he wasnt at the con but thankfully i met him the next day........or maybe he was late on that day , dont remember........I've been to a few cons so dont remember every detail :p

You should have emailed emp and asked if you could have gotten a supersize image of one of the copies they've sold in the past, since you were using it for a restoration reference. Maybe they would have sent you the image.

Groucho Marx left us 42 (meaning of life?) years ago today. I really enjoyed Groucho's appearances on the talk shows like Johnny Carson and others. Fortunately, many of these talk show appearances were recorded and are now on YouTube. He was so quick and clever well into his senior years. I was so happy to recently get this complete The Big Store midget window card. It's such a small delight and I'm so happy it survived.

When the July Heritage catalog came out, there was one poster that was a delightful surprise to me in Session III. I hoped not many would notice it, and was sure glad to win it! It's the giant AO+ sized German poster for The Song of Love (1925 release in Germany it looks like from the approval stamp date). The art on this poster is beautiful stone lithography, with rich shades of reds and blues along with white and cream popping out. This movie starring Norma Talmadge is based on Margaret Peterson's book Dust of Desire. Interestingly, I found at a flea market many years ago the original painting by Russel Crofoot for the U.S. first edition of Dust of Desire. I included images for both the book cover painting and German poster here. Hi Simes, I think this is a case where both the book and movie poster art did their job and attracted me. I had seen Norma Talmadge movies before, though didn't know about Song of Love until I found the book cover painting for Dust of Desire. The German movie poster ended up being gorgeous and that made the decision to bid very easy for me, too. The Stanford Univ. archive site was to share something interesting about Ms. Talmadge from the same month all those years ago.

Thanks, Jeff! I found several of that artist's 1920s book cover paintings many years ago at a now closed flea market site in Atlanta. It sure was great hunting grounds for collectibles back in the day! Okie

Haven't purchased anything for quite awhile with the weak £ but these arrived recently on the same day. The size difference amused me (at the time...)
