Is this a first release poster? The artwork style as well as the distrubutor named in the upper left corner (C.F.R.) makes me think that this is a later, 1950s re-release.

Also the Warner Bros logo is missing and WB had a distribution arm in France during this period.

CFR handled later re-releases in France in the 1950s.

And an example of a first release CASABLANCA poster, that WB themselves released in France (see upper left of this poster- WB released it, not CFR):

Hi Jeff,
Well I'd say firstly this is the unique french poster I ever saw for this movie with the 24x32 and there's no CFR on it.
This 1sh hasn't got any WB logo neither http://www.emovieposter.com/gallery/inc/archive_image.php?id=6491230
The thing is that I don't know what CFR is actually, do you know ?
Do you have other instances for CFR releases please ?

CFR means "Consortium du Format Reduit"
C.F.R didn't release only reissues during the 50s, they were active before. The thing is the size of the poster. This size was made for the rural areas in France as for this one http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/archiveitem/5007162.html

When I read this, I'm not sure about anything :
"A.G.D.C. DISCINA

ET LE CONSORTIUM DU FORMAT RÉDUIT
ENTRENT AUX MESSAGERIES DU FILM

The bold words mean something to me, and surely to other french collectors...

If someone can help, you're welcome !

Hey Zoon... the alamay example of the French AIR FORCE poster that you found is likely the first release by Warner Bros.

Notice that their name is at the top left of the poster, "WARNER BROS presente" (and not CFR, like your copy has).

In addition, the artwork o your copy is not as crisp, detailed or clear as that from the first French release.

Sid by Side:

And here is the first French release for CASABLANCA.. again, with WARNER BROS presente" at the top. Not CFR.

Yeah Jeff I saw that actually, I didn't join the pictures for telling they're the same. The thing I want to know is that :
Is that à reissue or an issue for rural areas. As C.F.R Is for those areas where no frame could provide the 47x63 french posters and could only play the 16mm ? As for those posters which were printed for french colonies were original issues but for french african colonies but with différent graphics during the 50s but for the first release in thèse areas, Like this one :
https://images.app.goo.gl/HmBAwUTpMVbB5EbN8 (https://images.app.goo.gl/HmBAwUTpMVbB5EbN8)
During the WWII and 10 years after, the country was reconstructing and rural lands were clearly late comparing to Paris or Marseille.
But let's say it's a reissue from the 50's. I will contact the bidders if they didn't see my addendum. Thanks

The poster size is not the real issue.

Its the distributor and the less detailed artwork. If yours was a first release, like the WB version, even in the smaller size, it would still have used the same artwork, and not a re-drawn version.

But because yours was distributed by CFR and NOT WB, (ad Im guessing it is a RR), then the original artwork was re-drawn, with less detail and finesse, for that later re-release.

Yep. I will try to get some info about the CFR history and the rural areas théâtres during the world war II, that should be interesting. Thanks again.
