Title: A new arrival
Post by: Desk on March 10, 2018, 05:41:53 PM
Hello everyone,

I've been a film fan for decades. In that time I've picked up a fair few movie posters, but on a casual basis.

In my younger years I foolishly didn't treat all these posters with the care I now wish I had. However, I did take care of some, including an 89 Batman one sheet, a 92 Batman Returns with the three main characters, plus a set of all three Back to the Future one sheets (UK ones produced at the time of each film's release, so not NSS, I believe..

Others I've picked up along the way and kept safe include a Star Wars 'New Hope' repro, X-Files movie one sheet plus others.

In recent times I discovered that a local cinema near where I worked would sell off posters for charity, so thanks to that I picked up items including a Mad Max: Fury Road advance quad and a Guardians of the Galaxy quad, both in mint or near mint condition. I then purchased a Guardians 2 quad, plus a Captain America: First Avenger quad.

Having recently started a new job with an increased salary, I decided to treat myself to some posters I've hankered after for years - with the intention of getting them professionally framed.

So, in recent weeks I've obtained a lovely, still sealed Fletch Lives one sheet which I've already had framed, a Bob Peak Star Trek: The Motion Picture advance one sheet (rolled and mint), a Richard Amsel Flash Gordon, also rolled but with some edge damage which will be hidden when framed, a mint, sealed Lost Boys one sheet and a rolled, mint 1976 King Kong (more on that in another thread, I think).

My fear is that I'm not finished yet, and I'm actually now considering a purchase costing more than twice as much as any of these.

I've really been enjoying reading the content on these forums, and hoping to learn more and develop my options even further with an eye perhaps towards adding some 70s crime thriller and maybe even some film noir.
