Read about this awhile back, was curious if anyone has gone this route with their restoration efforts.
From Mario's site:
Gelatin mounting is a new method where a poster is mounted and unmounted without any type of backing, yet allowing a base for the replacement of paper, color retouching, flattening, and cleaning. Our new technique can be applied to Lobby Cards, Rock posters and up to 40 x 60 posters.

Discussed here, too: :)

Thanks. Missed this thread, what I get for being out of the loop for some time.

I had Mario use this method to restore a Searchers half sheet what must be 5 years ago already and it came out really well.

Rich, do you still have the pics of the 'before and after,' by any chance?

definitely, but not necessarily organized to find it easily

So one could theoretically "gelatin back" a modern folded 1sh and have it returned with no back? This sounds awesome. I've never heard of this until now.
I'll be honest, my main complaint with linenbacking isn't the fold/stain removal, or archiving, it's the heavy ass piece of annoying linen stuck to the back of what should be a piece of paper.
I'd consider sending my folded Jaws (and a few others) to have this done rather than searching for rolled upgrades.
Ballpark cost for a 1sh?

Your poster returned for gelatin mounting will then be part cow, part pig, part poster

Both Poster Mountain and Mario Cueva (Lumiere Poster Restoration) do this process.
You should email Mario (lumiere9@msn.com) as he doesnt have a price list on his site, but he discusses it here briefly:

Poster Mountain's prices are here:

Gel mounting is for cardstock only. I think the folds on regular 1-sheet paper aren’t strong enough after de-mounting.
