Hello,
I am a fairly obsessive collector but I've never purchased movie posters before. My collection at the moment revolves around signed books, artwork and relics from the life of Dr Hunter S Thompson. But my son is reaching the age where he loves Star Wars and I'd like to decorate his room with a beautiful investment, more precisely on a poster from the original Star Wars poster. there are so many, with apparently so many variations etc, I'm afraid I'm going to make a mistake. I'd like to go for one of the more desireable posters, in my experience it's cheaper in the long run to pay up for better examples. Is there a guide online I can reference? Thanks for any help.

Like a lot of people on this forum, I have a few Star Wars posters, and I believe that Style C is a must own, much more so than A, B and D. The one year anniversary is also pretty cool.
Here are C and Anniversary. Both can be found rolled. The PG version of C is the rarest.

Thank you that's excellent advice. Is your best advice in finding one to wait until one comes up on ebay or is there a preferred vendor?
Thanks again,
Joe

There are a large number of Star Wars posters currently being auctioned at EMP (emovieposter) which may interest - see link.
If you decide to buy off ebay there are tons of fakes on there so be careful

Yeah, that one is folded unfortunately. I appreciate the guidance though, at least I know what I'm looking for now. Thank you.

Keep in mind that even though all of these posters can be found rolled, you might have to wait some time before one of them pops up. Folded versions of A and D are very easy to find. Folded versions of C are a little more difficult. Unless you know what you're doing, I'd stay clear of Ebay. Too many crooks.

......... you might have to wait some time before one of them pops up.
Add the words 'in any condition' and you'll start to sound like Dave at CineMasterpieces...!
