This is the LAST regular monthly poster post I plan on making through the summer (possibly longer).
I don't really understand that. What happens in the summer?

Not so much a new acquisition, but restored and linen backed and in the process of getting framed:

Could anyone tell me what other military posters were created
This arrived last week.
It would normally have gone into the Bond thread but what the hell - this one goes into the May thread.
Another for the deranged completest, a military poster for Thunderball noted mainly for its duo tone and lack of any inspiration. I really do not know why the military had special posters designed for films' showings. There must have been places awash with spare posters without having to go the extra mile to redesign, and print. Anyway..
Could anyone tell me what other military posters were created for the Bond series? I have a Dr No (even more ugly) and have been reliably informed there is one for From Russia with Love (never seen it). Cheers.

Thanks Jeff.
It's for the first Toxic Avenger.
Jeff, I'm not sure how much I should recommend watching Toxic Avenger, but if you've never seen a Troma movie before, this one is as good as any other to get a sense of their rather peculiar "style", lol! I think in general, their posters are better than the actual movies (just as was the case in the 1950s with AIP pictures!).
In a 1968 interview, Astaire described this effort as "the worst film I ever made." Astaire admitted that he was attracted to the film by the opportunity to "dance-conduct this real swingin' outfit". In an interview shortly before his death, Shaw admitted this film put him off acting.
Any info on why the name was changed along with quite a different looking poster campaign?
Great Star Wars and Jaws 2 posters. Condition is key, and these look perfect and Star Wars is uncut.
Just got this fun French poster from the 40s. It's not like me to buy a poster for a movie I haven't seen, but I liked the design enough to go for it.

I saw that too, but it being a Paramount picture, with top stars, yet no reference to that studio (unlike others from that decade) caught my eye and made me wonder.
To me, "sherlocking" is also such a fun part of this hobby. sherlockholmes.gif
That's super cool, Brandon. Congrats on the win! cool1
Looks to be in pristine condition, too.
He was at the convention, I thought about getting it signed, but thought better of it!
Well we spent the weekend there, selling our prints, helped out a bit by bringing his posters to the convention centre.
Spent the evenings in the bar chatting with him and a few others, pretty sure if I change my mind he'll do it for me! Question is do I spend the time getting it linen backed?
Just a few pin holes in it. It's been flattened for a while by the looks of it. Need to have a better look. Quoted €160 to linen back it. Not sure it's worth it really.
Guessing it will never warrant that extra cash.
Maybe I can get him to sign the back!
Always wanted this poster. IMO it's the best Jaws poster around.
Jaws 2 (sunset style)
Another beauty is Jaws polish 1sh notworthy.gif
I do have a spare set of the 3 Mummy Quads if anyone is interested.
That is them in the first pic Jeff.
Ah, thanks Paul. In looking again at the brochure, I see that's the banner pictured. My bad - reading.
Both have good eye appeal, too (no pun intended). thumbup
I like that the banner imagery isn't as cropped, instead showing the interesting. tattoo patterns on her face.
cheers
There's a set of Banners and a set of 3 Quads, Simon,I only got the Quads as I'm trying not to get anymore banners, and no this isn't the first time. It has been done before, the sets of 3.
Big haul there, Sean.
Ive always rather liked this poster image for The Devil's Bride. It has a very 60s feel. thumbsup.gif

thanks :)
yeah me too, i get the impression now i have this as a medium it may look rather more impressive as a grande?
but on the whole i prefer the smaller format, but i reckon this would look knock out as a biggy.
Such a great flick. Nice pickup there, Rich. cool1
Oh I know she's popular but dont know really anything about the Killian posters (in general).
Were they produced in limited numbers? And were they expensive when first released?
500: http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/archiveitem/14293352.html
750: http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/archiveitem/8776665.html
same poster, in one he says there are 500 the other says there are 750
which one is fake news?
A minor inadvertent inconsistency is not "fake news."
Well, boys and girls, I may not buy too often any more, but when I do....
Carson
Lol 😆

Congrats on the recent pickups, Chris.
I always found the imagery on that particular The Nest poster both a little disturbing and, yet, alluring at the same time. >:D
Cool 80s horror.
Thanks all,
Yes, those are the ones from the mess a long time ago. Carson and I mended fences and this is part of what worked out. Worth the wait!
I'll measure them when I get back home - traveling to Atlanta and North Carolina today :)
