Hey! Jeff,

I'm pretty sure all but one of these are by the amazing Thai artist Tongdee Panumas.

Only "A Nightmare on Elm Street 2" is by a different artist, and that artist is known as Kwow, I also really like the artwork on this one, so clearly there are a lot of talented artists in Thailand, no doubt about it.

Here's how the large First Blood Thai poster looks when framed, pretty nice I think :)

Tongdee does have a certain and brilliant style, thats for sure, John. And if all but one are done by him, then Im guessing they are all signed somewhere on the poster, too? The couple I have by him are, it must be something he always does.

And that First Blood looks very sweet in that frame, too.  thumbup

Yes, I'm pretty sure all the posters shown here are signed Jeff, even ANOES2 is signed by the artist, so it may just be a thing in Thailand in general that most artists put a signature on their work.

Appreciate the thumbs-up on the framed First Blood, I'm very happy with it. ;D

Very true. Signing the original, painted work totally makesa sense to me, too.

And too bad that signing one's work wasnt more general practice, especially here in the US. But that's where the digging around searching for that info comes into play.

I don't normally post pictures of the same poster twice, but, IMO when framed some of these posters look so much better that I'd like to share, I only got these frames today! and they were super cheap, but, the posters look truly fantastic in them, hope you all like them :)

Nice frames, John. Are the backing boards acid free, do you know?

As far as I know they are safe to use Jeff and for things (posters etc.) of this type, they are in a safe place not near any cold/damp and away from sunlight, so I'm pretty confident the posters will be well looked after in these frames, fingers crossed.

Thanks, John.

I was more curious about the construction materials of the frame: the backing boards, and hoping it isnt regular cardboard and (I forgot to ask) if the plexi was the UV protective type?

The frames I have like the one with First Blood in have the UV protection I think, these other ones I think are just standard plexi glass, but, as I said I feel they should be fine where I have them displayed, I'll obviously always be keeping an eye on them anyway.

If I splashed out to much cash on frames I would not be able to afford anything to go in them ;D

I've decided to keep the majority of my Thai posters in an A1 binder, the posters are in "Acid Free" protective sleeves and IMO really look the part, to any of you that collect Thai posters or other posters of similar size I'd say this is a great way to keep your collection safe and easy to look at/through whenever you like ;)

Picked up a few more Thai posters, really pleased with these ones, so hope you all like them :)

A Nightmare on Elm Street 5 (This one is really interesting as I believe this particular artwork was pulled/banned in many countries, the bit that is different on most posters for this film is the "baby" which is replaced with a "pram" on most versions, so I'm pleased to have picked this one up)

This here is the very first Bond poster I've bought and easily one of my favourite Thai posters I've bought to date, this is of course Octopussy and the artwork was done by the Thai artist Kwow.

I'm certainly no expert on Thai posters, but, I'm trying real hard to learn about them all the time, this one here is as far as I can tell probably the rarest one I own right now, I could be wrong about that, but, just from the little I know about Thai posters this one seems far more scarce than most, anyway whether it's rare or not the most important thing is it's another truly cracking poster, I'll let you all work out the film for yourself ;)

Hey! Jeff, yes, I'm delighted with this binder it was just the type of thing I was after, it's made by "Royal & Langnickel" I got it from Amazon, here:

it's certainly done the job for me :)

Hey! eatbrie,

My main area of collecting was UK quads up until a couple of months ago, but, since then I have turned my attention fully on to Thai posters as I really love the unique artwork many of these Thai posters tend to have, I really like the effort that the Thai artists put into their work and I like the way they often recreate many famous scenes from the film in the artwork.

Funny the three posters you picked out that you especially like as I currently have both First Blood and Octopussy framed and up on my wall, and I also prefer the vertical Flash Gordon poster, but, still happy to own both versions.

The First Blood poster is extra nice/special as it's unusual to get a Thai poster of this larger size, while the Octopussy Thai poster is IMO easily the best poster I've seen for the film, the artwork is great! :)

Thanks! Jeff, you already know all about the "Silence of the Lambs" poster as you own it yourself so you know it's a really nice looking poster this one, but, yes I'm really pleased with this latest trio of Thai posters I've added to my collection.

All three posters were pretty high on my Thai poster wish list, so really happy I've been able to pick them all up, all three were no brainer purchases for me, Halloween because I'm a fan of John Carpenter films, Evil Dead as I love all three of the Evil Dead films and finally Silence of the Lambs as it's a classic film and just a great poster. thumbsup.gif

I see, well, I hope  you find them all soon! T and can add them to your collection, out of those three I'd say the Flash Gordon (vertical) would probably be the easiest one to find, while First Blood and probably more so Octopussy may be a little harder to find if I were to "guess" :)

Got these two posters today I like the artwork very much on both of these, here we have Game of Death with Bruce Lee and Police Story 2 with Jackie Chan.

The Game of Death poster is actually part of a Thai 2 sheet poster, for some reason it seems a normal thing in Thailand to separate these 2 sheet type posters and you often find you can only get hold of either the left or right part of the poster, I have here the right side/part of the poster which I feel is arguably the better part to own (and it seems the more common part to find, even though both parts seem rare) as it also has the film title on this part, either way I love the artwork that is featured here as a big Bruce Lee fan. Anyway I hope you all like both posters, so thanks! for looking thumbsup.gif

Just to add for those of you interested, I've always thought of "Way of the Dragon" as my favourite Bruce Lee film, but, have always felt that if he had lived long enough to complete Game of Death then there's every chance that Game of Death would have been his best film, the fight footage that Bruce Lee did finish for Game of Death has always been some of my favourite to watch hence why I'm so pleased to have any poster with artwork from these fights :)

Of course Jeff, no worries on that one, but, I have been informed it's very hard to find, so will need a lot of luck for sure, I've only found 1 single picture on the internet of the full poster which pretty much tells you it's rarely seen, I will attach so you can see, but the picture is very small so not the best quality to look at.

John, Im guessing that, originally, your 2 sheet size, Game of Death poster was printed on a single sheet of paper? If so, that means that someone had to literally cut the poster in half? I wonder why they would do that? Unless cutting it into 2 posters made it cheaper in the long run?

Still, it's a bummer  :'(

Here's hoping u can locate the other half.

No I don't think so Jeff, I'm not 100% so don't take my word as definite but, I think this is very much another Thailand thing, I don't believe the poster has been cut at all, I think this is just how these two sheets are done/made in Thailand (in two separate parts) this is why I'm happy just to own part of this poster, of course if someone offered me the left part for a decent price I'd snap it up in an instant, but, I still appreciate what I have of this (IMO) great! poster.

From what I've seen of these two sheet posters most seem to end up separate, but, I have also seen the odd two sheet where both parts are for sale but they are in still in two parts, so as I say I'm fairly sure this is how they are made, why though I truly don't know, your guess is as good as mine, I think it's a crazy way of doing it, but, I'm sure there's some reason behind it. :)

@Jeff

Here you go, here is a bit of info taken from Eddie's (thanks! again Eddie thumbsup.gif) Film On Paper website about another Thai 2 sheet poster (Apocalypse Now):

"The two sides of the poster were printed separately and then joined together once they were displayed at cinemas. I tried my best to join them together with Photoshop but it’s not that easy to get them to match."

So there you have it Jeff, I think it's very much the same thing with my Game of Death poster ;)

No worries Jeff :)

To be honest with you the question I'd be asking more than anything is why these two sheet Thai posters are separated to begin with and not always kept together? this question is the one that puzzles me the most of all?

All I can come up with is "maybe" that when these two sheet posters were made and sent out to be pinned up somewhere "maybe" many places only had enough room/space to display one half of the poster, I can't think of any other reason why there's so many of these two sheet Thai posters around with just one half of the poster available to buy.

No matter how you look at it there's no getting away from the fact that it does seem a little odd how it all works with these two sheet type posters :-\

Or maybe by separating the 2 halves, theaters were getting double the advertising in 2 locations, from one poster. (More bang for the buck).

Maybe Pea might know the reason. Ive sent her a PM.

Who knows Jeff, could well be.

I did mention it to Pea myself, can't remember exactly what she said, but, think it may have been something to do with the artist involved and who was promoting the film or something along those lines.

Personally I'm surprised there would ever be a good/genuine reason for splitting the two parts up as most of these two sheet posters would not display to well with only one part of the poster as it's usually totally obvious that there should be another part as half of the film title may be missing or half of someone's head/face is missing etc. with ones that obvious I would almost certainly pass on.

But, I feel the Game of Death poster does not suffer to much on the part I have as the full film title is shown plus it's not immediately obvious it's only one part of a poster as it is with some two sheet posters I've seen.

At the end of the day I had a decision to make and that was that hand on heart I know it's an awful long shot that I'll ever come across the full two sheet poster, so I had to decide whether I'd be happy just to own some part of this particular poster, and as I like the artwork so much and I don't know of any other poster that shows similar artwork of Game of Death I personally felt the pros' far outweighed any con's in buying this poster as it is :)

Hey! guys,

Added some new posters to my Thai collection today! 8)

Here we have Thai posters for two classic films, they are "Bonnie & Clyde" and "The Long Good Friday" although I obviously like both posters I have to say that without doubt the Bonnie & Clyde poster is now one of if not my overall favourite Thai posters I've bought so far.... the artwork IMO is fantastic, I've also been informed by a very reliable source that this is another very rare and pretty scarce Thai poster and it's certainly the oldest one I currently own, apart from some slight water damage the poster is a real treat and displays really well. Anyway, hope you all like both posters.  cheers

Wow! Those have got to be super rare---especially BONNIE AND CLYDE. If it's an original release, that has to be 50 years old. Too bad there is that little bit of water staining in the lower right corner---but really, how many copies of that can have survived? Bravo.

Hey! GoGo, nice to hear from you mate thumbsup.gif

You've pretty much hit the nail on the head there GoGo I agree with you 100% that you have to stop and wonder and ask yourself how many of these Thai Bonnie & Clyde posters have even survived, this was very much in my thinking when deciding whether the water damage was enough to put me off, the simple (and easy) answer for me was certainly NOT! the water damage does not hurt/touch the amazing artwork in any way and to me that's all that matters, I'm more than happy to live with a little water damage in the corner if it means I get to own such a nice poster. :)

You're making me itchy to buy Thai posters!

I've not seen either of those before. Excellent stuff, particularly as Long Good Friday is a great film with a bit of a shortage of great posters.

 cheers Tob.

This is very much what got me into collecting Thai posters, I more or less stumbled across Thai posters only a couple of months back and noticed one or two had some really unique and excellent artwork, this got me to start looking into Thai posters much more and since then I have found lots of Thai posters where the artwork is (IMO) better than any other poster artwork for quite a lot of films.

Pleased you like the poster for "The Long Good Friday" a really cool/colourful poster for sure, I'd seen this one around a couple of times on different websites so I knew about this one, but, the Bonnie & Clyde poster I only found out about a week or so ago and I feel "very" lucky to have found it. :)

Here's another poster, this time it's for the John Woo film "Bullet in the Head" I've always enjoyed John Woo films especially his Hong Kong films which for me are easily his best (The Killer, Hard Boiled etc.) and Bullet in the Head is easily near the top of the list of his Hong Kong films, there are few tiny nicks to the white border on this poster but nothing major, once again this Thai poster is by far the best poster I've seen for the film and I would imagine/guess any fan of this film would appreciate the artwork on this poster. :)

John, I'm really liking the Bonnie & Clyde poster. clap clap

Whats a great score. Was this an eBay or dealer find?

And those slight water marks in the lower, right corner give it character. (and can also easily be dealt with if wanted).  :)

Hey! Jeff, glad you like the Bonnie and Clyde Thai poster, I'm thrilled that I found it, I feel it's one of the best posters I own, the poster was a dealer find.

As for the water marks I did think when I bought the poster that it was something that could possibly be fixed, but, I doubt I would ever do this, the water marks don't really bother me that much as they don't mess with the main artwork in any way and my gut-feeling tells me that I should leave well alone and keep the poster as it is. :)

I agree, John. The water staining is minimal and having that washed off and removed, likely would also mean i might have to be backed.

I think it looks totally fine, as is, too. Congrats again, on getting this one.

While I have read up on linen backing quite a bit and poster restoration etc. I still have never been tempted enough to do this for any of my poster collection, right now I'd probably say that the only time I could ever see me trying out poster restoration is if I owned a poster that was totally falling apart or something and in major trouble, other than that I don't see me ever using this type of service as I much prefer to leave well alone whenever possible. :)

Been a long time since I needed to update this thread, but, today I added a new poster to my Thai collection so thought I'd share it on here.

This one was tricky to find, and kind of completes a mini trilogy for me of horror icons, I already had the Thai posters in my collection for Halloween (Myers) and ANOES (Freddy), now I've added this Friday the 13th (Jason) poster to the collection (artwork by Tongdee).

As many of you will no doubt know many Thai posters are mostly on thin paper, well, this Friday the 13th is on especially thin paper which may have something to do with it being trickier to find, would tear "very" easily if not careful or was handled to much etc.  (maybe not as many have survived as some of the other Thai horror posters which appear for sale far more often, who knows?) either way delighted to find one and very pleased with the condition. thumbsup.gif

Sorry! about the picture being the wrong way round, was not uploaded that way.

Nice one, John. I also have a Thai F13 poster and agree about the paper, mine is very thin (and quite brittle too). Yours looks in much better shape. The art is good fun.

Thanks! Tob, much appreciated.

How long have you had one in your collection mate? from the research I've done it looks as though 10 years (or more) ago approx. there were a few around here & there, but, nowadays they very rarely appear on the market.

I've been on the hunt for this poster for a good while, the original Elm Street Thai poster seems to be around all the time, and to a lesser extent so does the Thai Halloween pop up every so often, but this Friday the 13th one took some real searching (& luck) to find.

I totally agree with you in regard to the "fun" gory art on this poster.

As for the condition, I put mine straight in my acid free sleeves folder, it is in fine condition for sure, but, up close you can also tell it's age (in a good way).

Even putting the poster in my folder I had to go "very" careful indeed as the paper felt it would rip even it you were to catch it wrong ever so slightly, it was actually a relief to get it safely in a sleeve.

I've had that one for a while now, it has a few issues like the water damage that you can probably see, but, it has not hurt the fantastic artwork in any way, personally I think it's the best poster for the film, I know that Chantrell did really good art on the UK Quad, but, I just like/prefer how the Thai poster captures so many more memorable scenes from the film all in the one poster.

Fingers crossed for you that you can also find one, T also has one on his website so they do show up sometimes, finding one will be a challenge by itself, but finding one in tip top condition would be even harder.

Good luck thumbsup.gif

I got mine in early 2018 - there was a UK seller that had some horror posters up and I managed to get it for a pretty reasonable price, although there is a chip of paper loss in the border in the top right corner. I also get a bit nervous putting posters into sleeves, especially if they have been rolled for a long time! Handle with care :)

I like the Thai Halloween and Nightmare art. I see you have the Evil Dead too...nice.

Speaking of Thai horror, I love the Profondo Rosso that T shared on his site recently...I imagine it's hard to track down. Very atmospheric art - https://moviepostersgallery.com/poster/profondo-rosso-deep-red-5/

Yes, the Evil Dead one is another one I tried to get hold of very early on in my Thai poster collecting as I love the Evil Dead trilogy and again the art on the Thai Evil Dead poster is great! the Thai artwork is the best I've seen for the film.

As I said to Marc in a previous post I'm glad to hear that other poster collector's have the same issues & concerns when placing their posters in a protective sleeve.

The Tongdee signature is just to the right of the girl with the axe in her face ;D

As long as you can find a trusted seller then you can't go far wrong with collecting Thai posters, many of them have the best art for the film seen anywhere IMO, and especially if you like the horror genre, the Thai artists seemed happy to paint anything no matter how gory it was, would never see that sort of art on a poster from the UK that's for sure.

I'm not a huge Thai posters collector - I basically buy them when I see them, but I don't go after them (except for the Spielbergs) - but this thread reminds me of the good stuff out there.  I want that Friday poster and will put my peeps on it, or I will forget like I always do hahaha.  Good stuff!

The Profondo Rosso is extremely rare, like 1 of 1, or so I was told.  I don't know much about, but I collect Argento, so I had to get it when it was offered to me.

And poster sleeves???  Why would you guys use poster sleeves?  I never understood that concept.  To me, it will damage the poster more than laying it flat in a flat file or something similar.

Maybe this isn’t the right topic for a poster sleeve discussion, but why are they bad for posters? I’m currently filling a plan chest and I’m putting all my posters in sleeves. Maybe I shouldn’t?

From my experience, when I had them only in poly sleeves, and no backing. If I tried to move it with the weight of the sleeve, an crease/bend or fold over from the poly, brings that crease on that poster if that makes sense...
So I removed them all from the poly bags and left them like T said...
Next time I would either go Mylar, or add a backing board, or leave plain.

Hey! T,

I have to say having checked out your website a few times and considering you don't think of yourself as a huge Thai poster collector you certainly have some amazing Thai posters in your collection, some of your Thai posters I'd class as SUPER RARE, so you already own many of the rarest (& best) ones out there, since I started collecting Thai posters 2 or 3 years ago I've tried to get hold of a few that you have in your collection but they just don't appear, and if you find someone in Thailand that owns them they will often say it's the last piece of the poster so obviously would never sell, so IMO you have an awesome Thai collection T notworthy.gif

Thanks! for the kind comments on the Friday the 13th poster, if your after one then it must be a good one ;) I have no doubt at all with your obvious connections your find one for yourself soon enough, good luck thumbsup.gif

As for the poster sleeves, I can only go on the ones I own, so I don't know if they greatly vary in quality, but, if you look on "Page 2" you will see I keep my Thai collection of posters in special acid free sleeves (with black paper sheets) and most importantly in a binder, I personally find these particular sleeves ideal, it keeps all my collection together (& flat) and the whole idea of having them in a binder like this is so I can check out my collection whenever I like without ever having to handle the posters, "for me" it's the best and safest way I can keep my collection together where I live :)

I only have 50 or so Thai posters. so it is far from being a collection and it certainly doesn't make me a collector of Thai posters.  That's my take on it anyway, but I do appreciate your kind endorsement ;)  I have asked 2 Thai poster collectors to find me a copy of Friday the 13th, along with a couple others I cannot mention.  We'll see.  It's out of my hands now.

And I guess we're coming from different end of the spectrum when it comes to poster sleeves.  Once I get a poster, it goes to the flat file and I never look at it again, which is why I privilege putting it somewhere where it won't be damaged by repeated viewing.  But I do get where you're coming from if you actually want to see your posters.  Posters sleeves might then be the perfect alternative.

While the Friday the 13th Thai poster certainly took some effort for me to find I have to say if you have the same people on the case/lookout that found for you (for example) Thai posters like Goonies, Gremlins, Pale Rider to name a few.. then I would fully expect them to be able to find a Friday the 13th for you as although RARE it's still one that appears more than many you already own, all the best with the search anyway :)

As for the couple of Thai posters you can't mention, I can totally understand that, there's probably a fair chance they are on my Thai wish list already, going by your Thai collection we seem to like a lot of the same ones.

In regard to my binder with the poster sleeves, don't get me wrong I don't get them out and look at them all the time or anything like that, just like to have the option though, but in general I also try not to move them about to often ;)

Hi there. No, I'll look for one...but not actively. If it comes to me, it comes to me. If not... so be it. T has people actively looking for him. That is awesome...but I'm more passive. I have way too many posters as it is.

Nice to see you active again. I've not been inactive...(I've been posting something at least once a month, usually more often), but I'm just not glued to APF as I was when I first started. Life happens and somethings have to take a backseat once in a while.... You certainly must understand that.

Welcome back.

Cheers!

Of course I totally understand poster collecting is just a basic hobby for most of us on here (myself included) and something to enjoy, so how often we all buy posters or post on these forums will always take a backseat to more important things we all have to think/worry about etc. either way good to see you still around on the forums and thanks! for the welcome back :)

Only reason I asked was I think it can be interesting to compare notes sometimes and see if us collector's hear and are told the same things about certain posters.

I've known about these two for a little while (a year or two) but as ever finding them both and from a trusted seller was as ever the most difficult thing.

Huge Clint fan, like loads of his films, so Pale Rider was one I wanted to find as soon as I first come across the poster, as usual the Thai artwork is superb IMO.

Also delighted to find Moonraker, goes nicely next to my Thai poster for Octopussy, and again I like the fact the Thai poster has unique artwork compared to other posters for the film, plus I feel always nice to add more Bond to any poster collection :)

I really like that Pale Rider image, John!  Rarity of original release Thai posters is an interesting question having lived in Thailand a bit. I think you are wise to keep your radar up on what you feel is original release, especially on Thai posters for English language movies and you are spending what you feel is a lot. I certainly don't think I'm an expert on all Thai original release poster rarity, though when there's a want, need, or desire, even for the "rare", resourcefulness seems to abound there!  Okie

Hey! Okie, glad your liking the Pale Rider image, it's certainly already a personal favourite Thai poster of mine.

I certainly do my very best to "keep my radar up" when buying "any" posters, but, especially Thai posters, I will always try and do as much research and checking around whether it's talking to fellow collector's on these very forums or elsewhere.

It's safe to say these latest two purchases cost a decent price to say the least, but, all I can say is I'm as confident as I possibly can be about every Thai poster I've bought to date.

If I'm ever a little unsure then I will always pass on a poster, for example I was recently offered a JAWS Thai poster but was not convinced it was genuine so I did not buy it.

I should also add that as well as doing my homework on each poster I buy I also try and do as much background checks as possible on any seller I decide to buy from, so hopefully doing these two things together means I can always do everything in my power to avoid picking up any fakes/reprints etc. thumbsup.gif

Thanks! mate ;)

I found that the Pale Rider poster was pretty tough to find, I must have been keeping an eye out for one for a couple of years approx. before I came across this one.

I wish you every success in your search to find one thumbsup.gif

Way to stay sharp, John!  Okie

 cheers Okie.

I have to say that I feel very lucky to have snapped these two up when I did, because the way things are heading with this rotten worldwide virus right now I have a gut-feeling it may be some time before I buy any more Thai posters with all the disruption that's looking likely to go on for months, so I feel I picked up these last two Thai posters just in time before there's lockdowns everywhere hmmm.gif

Hey! all,

A couple of recent additions, nothing super exciting, but, pretty pleased to add them to my Thai collection, one poster is for a John Woo Hong Kong classic, while the other one is for a film that could only have come from the 80's and they certainly don't make them like that anymore, I just thought it was a "FUN" poster. Cheers! cheers

Hi Test (reminds me when my grandpa used to tell the full service gasoline attendant to fill it up with "high test"), Congrats on The Killer.  I couldn't resist it either when I was in Thailand some years back.  It's a great image!

Thanks! Okie, yes I'd had "The Killer" on my wish list for a good while and never got round to picking it up until now, as for the other poster like I said a bit of fun really and it fits in nicely with the other 80's posters I have in the collection. ;)

Hi! to all, welcome1

Just a single poster added to the collection this time, this will almost certainly be the last poster I buy for some time (need to start saving and stop spending) this poster collecting is starting to get a bit to expensive for me especially the posters I'm interested in ;)

Anyway, if this is the last poster I buy for a while then I think it's a great! one to finish on.

Hope you all like it.

@T Much appreciated T, for you to say it's one of the best you've seen in a long time is a major compliment knowing the posters you come across, so thanks! so much for saying that.

Indeed, another Tongdee masterclass, I could of course have just told you this info, but, as you specifically asked for a signature zoom of the poster I thought I'd just let everyone on here see the artist for themselves ;)

Hi! to all welcome1

I was not expecting to update my collection on here again so soon, but, one of those "rare" chance/offers come my way and I simply could not pass it up, so I thought I would share these with all of you on the forums, I think I can guess which most of you will like best out of this lot but just for the record I love every one of these Thai posters.

You will see what we have included here is two sets, plus! a really nice "IMO" looking and tricky to find Jackie Chan poster, one of the sets is quite interesting in that it's basically a Thai lobby card 3 poster set two of which have photos from the film and a final poster with various artwork.

Anyway enough talk, I'll let you all see for yourself, I hope the pictures come out the right way round but I'll say sorry! in advance just in case they don't, hope you all like at least something out of this lot thumbsup.gif

I know you also have this E.T. trio T (no surprise about that ;)) but, I can hand on heart say I never in a million years thought the opportunity would come my way to be able to snap the three of them up, I'll admit I had to pay out a pretty penny to get them, but, I just could not resist, the Tongdee artwork is truly fantastic especially when seen up close in the flesh.

Yes, they are definitely getting a little harder to find these days.  I wasn't aware they were expensive, but these days it seems everything is.

I don't know if you frame your stuff, but they would look fun together as a triptych.

Hey! T,

From speaking to a few of my highly trusted Thai contacts and purely from doing my own research all three of the Thai E.T posters are considered very rare nowadays and are becoming more & more scarce all the time, since I've been collecting Thai posters I've only ever seen the the "3rd" E.T. poster for sale on it's own a couple of times, personally I've never seen the first two for sale anywhere before now and they are 100% much harder to find than the 3rd one for whatever reason.

As for the price, if you were just buying one at a time then I have no doubt you could get a lower price on them individually, but, the thing here is I was buying them as a "full set" no matter what type of collectable your talking about from my experience if have a full set of something it instantly becomes more valuable.

The chances of finding someone else who had the full set for sale IMO was very slim and highly unlikely to happen again anytime soon (if ever) so I had a figure in my mind that was the max. I'd go to for the posters and luckily for me it was enough to get the deal over the line, in the end I'm happy with what I got them for and I already consider them some of the best posters I've bought "to date"

As for framing them, I totally agree they'd look amazing framed, but, I simply have not got a frame big enough for the job, maybe something to consider in the future though, who knows hmmm.gif

The ET posters are fantastic! My initials are ET so I've always had a connection to the movie.

On my 10th birthday we went to Universal Studios. I got picked out of the crowd to show how they did the special effects for the scene where he rides the bike in front of the moon. After they projected the moon behind me they asked my favorite movie. I hadn't seen ET so I said Top Gun. Everyone laughed, then the host asked again. This time I said Back to the Future. She congratulated me for at least picking a Universal movie that time ;D I still remember that day vividly 32 years later.

You have inspired me to look into getting some more ET posters.

@Tob Thanks! mate, glad you like the E.T. posters, yes, I agree 100% about Tongdee, easily one of the best poster artists in Thailand if not the world, he created so many amazing film posters.

@eric Appreciate the compliment on the E.T. posters, also thank you for sharing your amusing story about Universal Studios, nice to know these posters stirred up an old memory for you, finally good luck/hunting if you go after some E.T. posters yourself :)

Hey! all, welcome1

About time I updated my Thai collection again, first of all there's nothing super exciting or especially rare in this lot nearly all were pretty cheap pick up's in all honesty, in fact a few of them I've held back for a while until I had more posters to show.

It's been a really quiet spell of late for me with my poster collecting for the most part as there's simply not been much around to go for, anyway there is at least a little variation here.

First up,

A Nightmare On Elm Street 3 (by Kwow) - This is the only Thai Elm Street I never had out of the first 6 films, so it was always one I intended to pick up one day.

Dragons Forever (by Tongdee) - A much liked Jackie Chan film from the late 80's, some nice artwork of the main stars on this one.

Evil Dead 2 - (by Jinda) - This is another one I've always intended to pick up but only recently got around to it, personally I much prefer the artwork on the Evil Dead Thai poster, but still glad to finally own the poster for the sequel as well.

Private School - (by Kwow) - Always really liked the main image of Cates on this poster, another cheap poster and as I collect a lot of 80's stuff a no brainer pick up for the price.

Project A 2 (by Tongdee) Version A - Another well known Jackie Chan HK flick, again some nice artwork on this one IMO, as it's been such a dry spell I've picked up a few Chan posters in recent months as many of them have some really nice artwork.

Project A 2 (by Tongdee) Version B - This is as far as I know a re-release but also by Tongdee, if you look closely you can see some of the same artwork is reused from the first release poster, however there's enough about this one that makes it unique and I'm happy to own both versions.

So there you go that's it, nothing major here, but a few solid enough additions to build up the collection a little while I wait for something more exciting to come along.

The NIGHTMARE 3 is fun. I have an EVIL DEAD 2 Thai---and it's very nice. (Welcome to the club. Ha!) Phoebe Cates in PRIVATE SCHOOL...she retired far too young... Nice stuff. Congratulations.

Appreciate the congrats GoGo thumbsup.gif

I always felt I had to pick up Elm Street 3 one day as although not my personal favourite Thai Elm Street poster (that would be the original Elm Street) Elm Street 3 is easily one of the best films in the Elm Street series so I'm glad to have finally added it to the collection.

As for Evil Dead 2, the poster has certainly grown on me more since I've owned it but I still think the original Evil Dead Thai poster has the best artwork overall.

As for Private School I've always liked the artwork on this one and Cates has always been very easy on the eyes :D

Hey! all welcome1

Back again, with another little selection, once again like so many of my posters every one of these is from the 80's:

Armour Of God - I've been told by a reliable source that this is one of the rarest Chan Thai posters (I have no idea why that is, your guess is as good as mine) basically this was Chan's version of Indiana Jones in terms of the character he plays, Chan fans will also know this is the film that almost killed Chan when one of his stunts went badly wrong and he basically fell on his head, ouch! anyway nice artwork by Kham.

Cannonball Run - A quick glance and you'd be forgiven thinking that this was a poster for another Chan film, but, a closer look and your see it's a Thai poster for none other than Cannonball Run, Chan as you'd expect was/is massive throughout Asia so no surprise that the Thai poster treats him as the main star and selling point of the film even though most would naturally consider Burt Reynolds as the main star of the film, either way cool! poster IMO with some good fun artwork by Poj.

Fast Times At Ridgemont High - Been on the look out for this one for a while, some lovely colourful artwork by Kwow, this is a poster that a few years ago popped up fairly often but nowadays is actually getting pretty tricky to find, so overall pleased to have this one in the collection as an 80's coming of age comedy classic.

Robocop - Last but certainly not least, another by Kwow, always loved the unique Thai artwork at the bottom of this poster, not a hard poster to find but until now I'd just not got around to picking it up, really happy to finally own it.

So that's all for now, IMO 4 great! additions as my Thai collection keeps on growing 8)

Good to know you also have FAST TIMES, like I mentioned in my comments FAST TIMES is a good Thai poster to have/find nowadays, having spoken to a couple of very good Thai poster collectors it does not appear on the market very often anymore.

As I mainly stick to only collecting Thai posters I'm noticing more & more there are many posters like FAST TIMES that 5 years ago or so were fairly easily found but are now really starting to become quite scarce.

It's certainly getting harder to find good Thai posters nowadays and if you do manage to find Thai posters for well known films especially from the 70's, 80's period the prices are starting to creep up all the time.

@GoGo Thanks! GoGo, glad you like the Elm Street 3, I'm also pleased to own it, but, for what it's worth if you own Elm Street 1 & 2 then I think you already have the best Thai Elm Street poster, I consider Elm Street 1 the best one for the artwork and I also like the artwork for Elm Street 2 a lot as well, in fact I prefer both of the ones you own over Elm Street 3 in terms of the artwork thumbsup.gif

Anyway, hi! all, welcome1

I've finally added a few posters to my Thai collection today and thought I'd share them with you, happy with all three of these, but, I'll let you try and guess which one is my favourite of the three hmmm.gif

Thank You! T, yep, Alcatraz is my favourite of the 3 and the main one I was after, it's one I've been after for a while, love the Thai poster and the film itself, also like the Commando a lot as well, it reminds me a little bit of the Thai Robocop poster in that the main art is similar to other posters worldwide but the unique extra Thai artwork makes the Thai poster the one to own IMO.

I should just add both Alcatraz & Commando are by "Kwow" for anyone interested. :)

SCUM? Ha! I've never heard of it...but dig the title. Interesting find. CHEERS!

How's it going GoGo,

yeah, SCUM is a violent and controversial British film released in "79" (in the UK), it's quite highly rated on film sites like IMDB & Rotten Tomatoes etc.

In all honesty I was pretty shocked to find there was a Thai poster for this film, but, it did not cost to much so I snapped it up, the most well known actor in the film would easily be "Ray Winstone" the artwork on the SCUM Thai poster was done by the same artist that did the often seen Thai Evil Dead poster.

Anyway, happy to have added it to the collection, but, as I said to T, the star of the show out of these latest 3 additions was ALCATRAZ by some distance :)
