Title: Cinema Overdrive posters
Post by: Dread_Pirate_Mel on August 22, 2010, 04:53:48 PM
Rather than lumping all non-Alamo posters in one large thread, I'll start a separate thread for some prominent theaters.

Cinema Overdrive, in Raleigh NC, has put out several movie posters and they're getting more popular.  Here is the poster website:

http://www.cinemaoverdrive.net/merch/ (http://www.cinemaoverdrive.net/merch/)

Today, they sold out of 90 Goldfinger posters, which were pretty good IMHO, in just a few hours:

Version #1- Purple
(Run of 40 prints, each hand signed and numbered by the artist.  $30.00 each plus s/h)

Version #2- Gold
(Run of 30 prints, each hand signed and numbered by the artist.  $45.00 each plus s/h)

Version #3- Silver (metallic)
(Run of only 20 prints!  Signed & numbered- $55.00 each plus s/h)

Send an email to cinemarat@earthlink.net to get on the mailing list.

I'm not here to discuss the past. I'm here to be positive about this subject.  Asking me or any other buyer to answer questions about who bought what in front of television cameras will not solve the problem. My lawyers have advised me that I cannot answer these questions without jeopardizing my friends, my family and myself.  I intend to follow their advice.

New stuff from Cinema Overdrive - not for me but others here might like them - contact Matt at cinemarat@earthlink.net if interested:

Hello everyone,

I hope you're all doing well and having a great week.  Last night at CINEMA OVERDRIVE we had an amazing double feature of two modern horror classics, THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and EVIL DEAD II.  And to celebrate that show, we had Danny Miller create a combo pair of posters featuring the stars of the evening.  And he did not disappoint!

Danny approached this project as if he were creating "baseball cards from hell", and created a pair of 18" x 24", 4 color screen prints that really do the "stars" of these films justice.  The jpegs don't really come close to how beautiful these things look in person.  They were printed by The Half and Half out of Columbia, SC, and the color selections were rich and wonderful.  Each print was a limited edition of only 60 prints, each hand signed and numbered by the artist.  They really pop off of the page!

So, without further ado, here they are- LEATHERFACE and ASH!

Just two Halloween posters left too:

(http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/vv275/Forty_Candles/Halloween.jpg) (just 2 left)

Suppose to keep this stuff on the lowdown, the print runs are pretty low on all this stuff!

Wow, thanks for the cool thread Mel!  It's nice to see that people have been enjoying our stuff and have interest in it.  We really love putting on our film shows, and being able to offer original, limited edition artwork for them has just added to the fun of it all!

If anyone is interested in more information or would like to join our mailing list, please send me an email at cinemarat@earthlink.net and I will be happy to help you out.

Also, if you'd like more information about our film series, posters, or past shows, please feel free to visit our web site located here: www.cinemaoverdrive.net (http://www.cinemaoverdrive.net)

We're primarily a 70's and 80's exploitation and horror series first and foremost, which is why a lot of the artwork we offer are for smaller, more obscure films.  But we really enjoy being able to create something unique, and hopefully it fills a bit of a void that isn't presently being served in both the art world and the repertory cinema world.  At the very least, we love to be able to share these films with our loyal hometown patrons.  And if people from other parts of the country and the world enjoy what we do, that's just icing on the cake.

Thanks again guys!  Much appreciated!  (and Dale, don't worry....I'll make sure all of the folks who have supported us from early on are taken care of  ;)

Also, something that Mel forgot to mention is that Matt, who runs Cinema Overdrive, is one of the nicest guys around who mainly does what he does because of his love for movies.  I recently bought the Halloween print from him and had a wonderful exchange with him.  A lot of cool stuff is on its way, so I strongly recommend you sign up to his mailing list and spread the word.  His prints are highly affordable and their only purpose is to keep the ball rolling so that he can set up more screenings.

Wow guys, I truly thank you for the kind words and support.  Doing these shows and this artwork is a labor of love for us, and I really think it is probably the best hobby I've ever had.  Yeah, that's how I view it- it's my hobby!  If it makes enough money to support itself so we can keep doing the shows and the posters for years to come that would be wonderful.  But ultimately we just try to put on the best shows and produce the best product we can, and treat our patrons with the utmost in respect.  I really believe that if you do that, the public will support you and allow you to do as many cool projects as you can dream up (at least I hope I'm right!)

Anyway, for those who are wondering both the ASH and LEATHERFACE prints are now available for sale individually on our web site, www.cinemaoverdrive.net/merch (http://www.cinemaoverdrive.net/merch)

If you'd like to buy the set of 2 prints (this one and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre "Leatherface" print) please email me directly at cinemarat@earthlink.net, as our web site isn't set up to do things like offer discounts, consolidate shipping, etc.

Thanks as always!

OK folks, in anticipation of our final horror film screening for this October, we've prepared a very cool screen print for one of my favorite modern Eurotrash horror films of all times- Dario Argento's DEMONS!  (OK, I know it was directed by Lamberto Bava, but you know get my drift!)

This is a beautiful 4 color design with underlays and measures 18" x 24".  As always, the pic doesn't do it justice- it looks wonderful in person.  But here it is:

(http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/4436/demonsposterproofemail.jpg) (http://img203.imageshack.us/i/demonsposterproofemail.jpg/)

It's presently available on our web site at www.cinemaoverdrive.net/merch (http://www.cinemaoverdrive.net/merch), or you can just email me directly at cinemarat@earthlink.net

Thanks for looking!

This is the first poster created by a local artist named Travis Getz, and we're really excited about this one. Travis enjoys doing military style art projects, and we gave him two different projects to work on (the second will be out in early 2011). When I was talking with him about this movie, I mentioned how much I loved watching this one growing up, and that it was a lot of fun to me because it was like a giant comic book come to life. Nothing was terribly realistic, but everything was a bit larger than life.

Well I had no idea how much he'd take that idea and run with it! He came back a couple of weeks later with this- a movie poster that represents the cover for the Chuck Norris comic book that never was! Not only did he take all of the Cinema Overdrive film series info and turn it into a mock "comic logo" in the upper left hand corner, but in the lower right hand corner he created a mock bar code that pays homage to the film's original release date. He also created a regular "daytime version" and an alternate "night attack" variant. Both posters are 18" x 24", 6 color screen prints with color fades and just look amazing in person!

(http://img560.imageshack.us/img560/9386/miaday.jpg) (http://img560.imageshack.us/i/miaday.jpg/)

(http://img828.imageshack.us/img828/9349/mianight.jpg) (http://img828.imageshack.us/i/mianight.jpg/)

(note: the white border is for the pics only- the posters themselevs are a full 18" x 24" with color all the way to the entire edge)

The regular edition is $25.00 plus shipping, with a run of 50 prints (all signed and numbered by the artist). The variant has an extremely small run of 25 prints (also signed and numbered), and that one is $40.00 plus shipping.

They will be available on our web site soon, but if you're interested in securing a copy feel free to email me at cinemarat@earthlink.net and I'll be happy to get you one.

Also, for members of this site you can pick up the pair (regular and variant) at a discounted price of $60.00 plus shipping. Thanks for checking it out!

In case you may have missed it earlier, here is the latest print release from Cinema Overdrive- a 5 color screen print from James Rheem Davis for "Silent Night, Deadly Night 1.4".  Why did we call the show "1.4" you may ask?  Well, that's because we showed all of the original film, but only half of the sequel!  But since the 85 minute running time of the sequel is comprised of 45 minutes worth of flashbacks, you really only need to see half of it anyway  ;D

Anyway, out of the original run of 60+ prints (55 numbered plus a few artist proofs) we're down to less than 10 left.  If you'd like to pick one up before they're gone, feel free to log onto our web site at www.cinemaoverdrive.net/merch (http://www.cinemaoverdrive.net/merch) or email me directly at cinemarat@earthlink.net

Thanks!

This isn't actually a Cinema Overdrive print.  Matt promoted it, and Danny generously allowed those on the CO mailing list first crack, but its not for a CO screening.

Well, to be sure, even on Miller's site he said he was releasing it in conjunction with CO, and that he wanted those on the CO mailing list to have first crack.  That's the perks we get for following CO and being supportive, rather than just cherrypicking what CO offers, on occasion.

if you like it thats cool go for it,

but personally I hate that halloween poster. It is the second poster to use rob zombies (terrible) version of michael myers to advertise for the original film. the other is that awful alamo one they used the rob zombie kids clown mask. I know a couple of people have it on here and like it but i think that it is just a downright insult for someone to make a poster for an original film and use images from the remake.

Am looking forward to receiving these Aliens prints, especially as the close-up shots on Expresso Beans indicate that Miller has 'worked in' some clever alien imagery from the films into the backgrounds.

Just a shame we don't get to see this level of imagination in more main release theatrical campaigns anymore... but then again we can never get enough 'floating' heads looking moodily above a skyline can we?

I haven't posted in a while, but in addition to thanking all of the really great members of this forum for supporting our small, grass roots film and art series I wanted to go ahead and post images from the latest CINEMA OVERDRIVE release- artwork from Travis Getz honoring the original GONE IN 60 SECONDS!

GONE IN 60 SECONDS is an amazing ode to the American muscle car and an era of filmmaking that is long since past.  Made in 1974, this film is 95 minutes long and a grand total of 93 cars were destroyed making it!  And it was made in an era where movies were REAL.....no CGI here!  Some of the auto stunts in this film are nothing short of amazing, and the entire second half of the film (45 minutes) is devoted to one single car chase!

When Travis set out to design this poster he not only wanted to incorporate elements of the film, but to pay tribute to the era it was from as well.

The poster is a US "Ramp" speed limit sign that has been spray painted, rusted out, vandalized and had stickers slapped on it (if you ever took a road trip anywhere in the States in the 70s you probably saw something similar to this as you traveled down the highway!)  Check out the finished poster here:

GONE IN 60 SECONDS- 18" x 24", 4 color screen print.  Limited edition of 55 prints.  $25.00 each plus shipping.

The picture of Maindrian Pace and the cars are designed to look like stickers, and last night at the show we had no fewer than three people pick up the poster and attempt to peel them off!  To me that means the printer did a good job (and it was funny to watch, too!)

One of the most impressive details on this print is the background- if you'll look closely, you'll see that the background of the artwork is the schematic of a clutch assembly for a 1970s Ford Mustang.  And the rust detail around the edges printed beautifully as well.  You can see close up images of all of that wonderful detail here:

This poster was a small run of 55 prints, each hand signed and numbered by the artist.  We went ahead and offered it to the fine folks on our mailing list first, and it is basically sold out (there may be one or two left, I just have to finish going through all of the emails!)

If you'd like to join our mailing list please visit our web site at www.cinemaoverdrive.net/merch (http://www.cinemaoverdrive.net/merch) or email me directly at cinemarat@earthlink.net.  I'd be happy to help.

I'd also like to once again extend my deepest thanks to all of you who have supported us and not only offered me some very helpful hints and advice, but words of encouragement as well.  Yes, we realize we'll probably never be one of the "major players" in the poster world and honestly, that's not our goal.  We're more focused on trying to be able to not only pay tribute to films we love (that are often grossly overlooked), but also to be able to offer one on one customer service and the best product we can at a fair price.

Thanks everyone!

The latest poster offering from Cinema Overdrive is for the John Carpenter film ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13.  Created by James Rheem Davis, this poster is a 36" x 24" horizontal screen print in the British Quad fashion, and even features a quote from a British film critic from the film's original release!

There will be two versions of this one, each of which is hand signed and numbered by the artist himself.

The Cyan REGULAR EDITION has a run of 50 prints and will be $45.00 plus shipping.

The Silver VARIANT EDITION has a run of 35 prints and will be $55.00 plus shipping.

Here's a pic of some of the close up detail on the Cyan version as well:

The official release date on this poster is Monday, May 2nd, and it will be available on our web site at www.cinemaoverdrive.net/merch (http://www.cinemaoverdrive.net/merch) if there are any remaining copies available after the show and the mailing list pre-order.

As with any Cinema Overdrive poster release, members of our mailing list will always get first crack at all of our latest releases via email.  If anyone is interested in obtaining this poster we strongly encourage them to sign up for our mailing list by submitting their email address through our web site at www.cinemaoverdrive.net (http://www.cinemaoverdrive.net) or by emailing me directly at cinemarat@earthlink.net.  We're planning on sending out an email announcement about this one to the mailing list sometime in the next several days.

Per Matt...

Hello everyone,

We hope that you're doing well and your summer is off to a terrific start!  We're very excited about the upcoming projects we have in store, and what better way to start things off than with a brand new poster from Danny Miller?

Danny's latest creation is a 4-color screen printed poster for our recent screening of the David Cronenberg film RABID.  The poster is 18" x 24" and was printed by The Half and Half out of South Carolina.  The results look beautiful in person! This poster was a small run of only 77 prints, each hand signed and numbered by the artist himself.

The official release date for this print on our web site (www.cinemaoverdrive.net/merch) will be Monday, June 13th.  However, like all of our previous releases members of this mailing list will get the absolute first opportunity to purchase this poster before it is available to the general public.

They are $25.00 each plus shipping, with a limit of 2 prints per customer.
If you'd like to purchase yours now simply hit "reply" to this email or drop me a line at cinemarat@earthlink.net and let me know.  I'll be happy to help.

Here is a small gallery of pics to wet your whistle.  Try as we did, none of the photos do the pink any justice.  That color is just so vibrant and rich in person it really jumps off the paper.  Check it out!

I like it.  Bought mine already.

Thanks guys!  And since we got it in a little earlier than we expected to, we're presently offering anyone who buys the RABID poster first crack at our STREETS OF FIRE poster as well.  That way we can ship both together and combine the shipping, saving anyone who wanted both at least $10 or so (depending on where they're located).

RABID is nearly sold out.  We're down to single digits on that one.  And although STREETS OF FIRE won't be available for another week or so, anyone who buys RABID has first crack to go ahead and buy this one as well at the same time:

STREETS OF FIRE- 18" x 24", 4 color screen print.  Art by Patrick Leger, printed by The Half and Half.  Signed, numbered edition of 64 prints.  $25.00 plus shipping:

I agree, Matt if you read this we all appreciate how you folks handle these rollouts taking care of those that have been around awhile. The one thing about mondo that rubs me the wrong way to this day is there was never any consideration for those that got the ball rolling in the first place and was there buying everything from the initial roadshow days.

Good pick ups there, Dale. That Serenity print is pretty nice.

Definitely a nice print. I like Davis too, and, for that matter, Iron Jaiden.  I especially like Jaiden's print for 0000.  I can't wait for that movie to be released.

The UK edition were exclusively for us to take around to UK movie and collector conventions.
They glow beautifully, half and half did a great print job on those, still have about 5 sets left over believe it or not.
Little bit of geekiness for me but James RD knew Evil Dead 2 was one of my favourite horror flicks, probably because it was the first horror movie I watched on my own.
Anyway, he put my initials in the car number plate  ;D
I can't seem to track down an original quad poster for this title ( I believe that they reprinted it at the correct size so I never been confident in buying one ) so this made me very happy!
But with a 6 year old running around the hose it will be a while before I can frame this one up.

This is ridiculous.  Those Aliens are great.  If Mondo had printed them, they would have sold out in 5 seconds and would sell for $300 on Ebay right now.  Meanwhile, some crapola by the likes of Bertmers sells for $300 on Ebay because it was sold by Mondo.  Go figure.

Not Cinema Overdrive per se, but quite awesome in its own way.  A new Danny Miller creation, these three prints will go on sale tomorrow, Sunday, at 10:30pm EST.

Here's the release info:

Official "Zombies of 'THE WALKING DEAD'" prints

Emmy Award winning special effects artist Greg Nicotero has been a fan of Danny Miller's artwork for some time now.  So when he got the official go-ahead from AMC Television to have his zombies turned into a limited edition set of posters, Danny was the first person he contacted.  This is a project that Greg really wanted to do and has been instrumental in making happen.   And the results are amazing!

"The Zombies of The Walking Dead" is a set of 3 limited edition prints featuring walkers from Season 2 of THE WALKING DEAD.

Each print (a run of 400 each and 75 variants) depict the hideous undead in a 7-color silk screen process.  The beasts of the hour are:

-The RV walker that stalks Andrea in the season premiere
-The WELL WALKER in episode 5
-The BEARDED WALKER (to appear in an upcoming episode)

This artwork was designed and created directly from photos taken by award winning make-up effects designer and co-executive producer Greg Nicotero on set during production and licensed by AMC!

The size of each silk screened print is 14" x 30" and all prints are signed by both Greg Nicotero and artist Danny Miller.  Each print is individually numbered as well!

The cost will be $40 per print (or $110.00 for a set of all 3) plus shipping and handling (pricing on variants for a set of 3 is $190).

These prints will be available 10:30 PM EST on Feb 12th at http://www.20eyesco.com/ to coincide with the mid season premiere of THE WALKING DEAD.
