Hi there. Happy August...
I am just about to post my usual first day of the month post on my thread to share my new acquisitions (including my recent Heritage Signature Auction wins). As I sometimes do, here is a sample (not the best...not the worst...and not the Heritage items) of what is there.
THE NEON DEMON:
I really want to see this movie....and it's already come and gone. Drat! Anyone see it? Is it any good? Worth seeing?
SHIVERS (aka THEY CAME FROM WITHIN) and RABID (British Quad combo):
I really dig the combo quads. I don't know why we didn't have more combo one sheets over here...and for two Cronenberg hits. Zowie!
FORBIDDEN ZONE (French small affiche):
Cool poster for the early 1980s underground cult film (that stars Herve Villechaize, Susan Tyrrell and the Mystic Knights of Oingo Boingo --as they are billed). Was there a US one sheet for this? Hmm...
Have a groovy August...(Oh, i can't wait for this long, hot summer to end...)
CHEERS!

Nice, Devin. And interesting how every actor was drawn, (aside from Paul Newman), where a photo was used for him, from roughly the waist up.

I really like that cartoon aspect of the poster, if they had all been photographed I don't think I would have picked it up.

My thought, too. I would have done the same.

Congratulations!

Akira - finally found one under the radar...
Still remains one of my favorite movies of all time.
Great find!
-
Yesterday (Tuesday) was kind to me.
First, I received this Aussie one sheet from APF-buddy, Tob (Thanks, man!)
Not only is it my favorite film of 2015 and my favorite design for the film, but it is a COO poster, to boot.
(http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu12/brude2000/Fury%20Road_zpsqpknvzyh.jpg) (http://s629.photobucket.com/user/brude2000/media/Fury%20Road_zpsqpknvzyh.jpg.html) dancingalien.gif
Then, later that same day, I won these 3 from Bruce (EMP).
Now, I have a pretty steadfast rule not to post anything until it has arrived safe and sound, but Bruce never fails... so, what the hell... here they are...
This is a 1978 UK one-sheet for the Jerzy Skolimowski thriller about ancient aboriginal magic.
I loved the movie and have finally found my poster of choice... and its another COO, to boot.
(http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu12/brude2000/english_1sh_shout_KM01587_T_zpseupdg1gy.jpg) (http://s629.photobucket.com/user/brude2000/media/english_1sh_shout_KM01587_T_zpseupdg1gy.jpg.html)
I remember seeing this in the theaters back in 1975... talk about hot and bothered...
(http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu12/brude2000/story_of_o_KM01569_T_zps0x66gfkg.jpg) (http://s629.photobucket.com/user/brude2000/media/story_of_o_KM01569_T_zps0x66gfkg.jpg.html)
Last (but not least) is this intl one sheet featuring Natalie Wood from 1966.
Its got some edge and border issues, but the art is great.
(http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu12/brude2000/this_property_is_condemned_intl_dupe2_KM01346_T_zpsurugebju.jpg) (http://s629.photobucket.com/user/brude2000/media/this_property_is_condemned_intl_dupe2_KM01346_T_zpsurugebju.jpg.html)
-
Nice looking 4-some there, Ted. And Natalie looks particularly fine on the TPIC OS. ;)
I really like The Shout poster, too. GREAT imagery. I dont know the flicker at all, but your description and the poster now have me curious.
Congrats on the acquisitions. thumbup
-
Thanks, Jeff.
I think you'll like The Shout.
cheers
-
Congrats on YOUR haul there, Brudester. I dig all of them. The MAD MAX is my fave of the four, but I've been looking for a STORY OF O off and on for years, THE SHOUT I have heard of---but never saw it (Heard good things about it too) and the image of Natalie Wood is very nice. Good job all around. Now, where the heck have you been Ted?
-
Thanks, Shawn.
Yes, even though Natalie's poster is kinda chewed up, the image has long been my favorite of her and was illustrated by Frank McCarthy, a legend in the biz. http://www.conancompletist.com/darkofthesun/McCarthy_the_list.html (http://www.conancompletist.com/darkofthesun/McCarthy_the_list.html)
Now, where've I been?
I'm not quite sure.
It's still a blur..... a maelstrom of sex, drugs and rock 'n roll. imbecile.gif
-
Some great pick ups everyone.
-
Nice haul, Ted! I'm glad Mad Max arrived safe...my fave film of 2015 too!
-
August is off to a killer start! Congrats to everyone on the killer hauls.
Here are a few of my more recent buys...
MPAA - Attention Parents: Another notch in my belt towards collecting all of the MPAA ratings posters
(https://www.dropbox.com/s/l1ruqctjx6ss06p/MPAA_%20Attemtion%20Parents.jpg?raw=1)
It Follows: This indie horror had a lot of great looking media produced to promote it. This is a design I had not seen previous, the Jp. chirashi.

Bug: I posted an alternate style OS to this underrated film not long ago. Happened across this version and hopped on it.

That Natalie Wood poster is terrific. bed1
Some great posters this month already.

August is looking to be a good month. Congrats all round.
Very happy to get these Alice pieces as I've been desperate to find this artwork in poster form. The seller says they are a full set from the Paris Metro but I'm certain theres one more with the White Queen. Still very happy and gives me something to search for...
The Suicide Squad is from the European Premiere. Wish I could have got the other version too but I did well to get this. Not many on display and probably the busiest Premiere I've seen.

DAMOMAC: I found the movie had so much potential -- but completely lacking and thoroughly disappointing. HOWEVER, that being said, I find the posters for the movie far more interesting than the film itself. I hadn't seen this one yet. Nice find.

PAUL: Nice as always, but those are my 3 faves of the bunch.
some great posters flying around in August, heres a few that landed over the weekend
set of Tarkovsky re-releases. ive only ever watched Solaris & Stalker but maybe tempted to watch the others
m154cath: Wow--very cool. I'm familiar with SOLARIS, but what is this SCULPTING TIME on all of the posters. Do all of the movies tie into a much larger storyline some how? The STALKER one looks good and IVAN'S CHILDHOOD looks intriguing.
This B2 just arrived, Zoltan Kordan's Jungle Book (1942), released in Japan in 1951.

Awesome artwork on that Jungle Book brude! Congrats!!

Brude, Chris9000 (the Jungle Book's actually mine ... ;D), Monster A GoGo... Thanks very much!

I recently saw that same lenticular somewhere...fairly reasonably priced, if I recall. I was unfamiliar with the movie, so passed. Good for you for scoring one though.
Thanks man. It was only $15 and I sold my previous one for $400 a couple years ago so it worked out very well.

some nice things in this month for sure!
picked up a couple of quads for an amazing movie.
odd the distributor would print 2 DS posters for a film that would get such a small run.
also odd the designs are so similair. to be honest im getting quite used to posters for movies that have such a limited release to print digital quads.
although im quite glad they are litho :D

The second in is a YUGO poster but I have both in English language.
Some bullet reverberations and slight sifting of ice blocks, I can see which different demographics they were trying to capture with these two posters...

they just seem to be different versions of the same design, which does happen from time to time as im sure you know. but the big difference is the size of the audience of the movies, that 007 would have gone to every multiplex at the time, where as EOFTS didnt show in any multiplexs and barely was shown in independants. some odd choices being made somewhere?

Nice pick ups, Sean and Paul.
Those Neon Demon posters are eye grabbing, Sean and Paul, I really like the art and design on Gideon's Day. Great color and I like the animated design. thumbsup.gif

Loving the last 3 Paul - I think the only one of those I've watched is Gideon's Day.
Sean , must try finding the German Neon, looks great :)
-
The condition on this one isn't great, but it was cheap and I like the artwork. Especially whatever is going on down there in the lower left corner!
"Cárcel de mujeres" means "Women's Prison".

Yes, interesting poster! thumbup
Not sure how a bandage sticks to the top lady's hair, nor why there is an Asian looking baby, or why Michael Jackson is eating a face.

At least they are holding hands while the biting is going on. Nothing says, "I love you" bed1 like....
oh wait.
But it has some interesting imagery, that's for sure. Any idea who the artist is, Deke?

Wow! Hot month for posters--figuratively and literally!
Teamweapon: I am in LOVE with that German NEON DEMON.
Paul: nice batch---particularly THE LAST SUNSET and FANTASTIC BEASTS. OOooo...
Deke: Cool poster...but instead of Michael Jackson, it looks like an outtake from GONE WITH THE WIND where an uber-jealous and crazed Scarlett is biting Olivia De Havilland's face over her insane obsession with Ashley Wilkes.
Baseman: I dig the PULP FICTION set. I've not seen those before I don't think.... Groovy.
Here are a few from my recent post--which i usually do one the 1st and 15th...but I'm late a day. Nothing too exciting. Here's a small sample of some of the schlock:
STAR CRYSTAL:
This just SCREAMS crap-a-rama "ALIEN" ripoff. I've never seen it or heard of it. I hope it's wonderful in a bad movie kind of way (instead of just tediously boring and lame). Cool cheesy poster none the less...
1990: THE BRONX WARRIORS:
Speaking of ripoffs, here's a great MAD MAX/ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK hybrid clone. Fun poster. I never saw the flick, but it looks like a potential grindhouse classic.
DRIVE IN:
While NOT a ripoff, the on-screen movie in the regional 70s comedy DRIVE IN spoofs the disaster movies of the era in a(brilliant) fictional film called "DISASTER '76" (My favorite part of the movie. I wonder if there were fake posters made for it--I don't remember as it's been years since I saw the movie--but if they did make them, I wonder where they are now? I'd LOVE one).
Keep 'em coming. August is only HALF over.
CHEERS!

I dont know this flicker, either, but I really like the poster. The alien creature has some awesome, wicked, sharp teeth, that's for sure. thumbup
-
I had not heard of it either, and was thus moved to look it up.

None of the cast have images by their names and the one review slams it. Oh dear.
Cool poster though.

Ha! I knew it was probably a piece o' crap-a-rama as i originally stated. Just shows you that sometimes the poster is better than the movie. Glad you guys liked it. Cheers!

clap clap Nice one Jason, it's a jollyfine poster, and great you've tracked down a rolled one. Even both mine are folded....

Way to go, Jason. A great pickup, for sure! clap clap
-
Very nice. I'm no fan of Graham Humphreys, but I would argue that this title and design are an absolute must in any respectable modern horror poster collection. From Night of the Living Dead, to Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Halloween, this is right up there with the most iconic designs.

Woah! Nice haul, Chris! Dishonoured Lady is my favourite...Hedy Lamarr, one to remember for me.
Congrats to Jason...so jealous of that one. Amazing poster.
Here are 3 I got recently:
Whiplash, Japanese B1. I adore this film, I think it's a masterpiece. There's quite a lot of Kanji on this one, but the image is quite a nice snapshot of the ferocity/intensity between Andrew and Fletcher
(http://i.imgur.com/21hHc1Jh.jpg)
Uncle Buck, UK Quad. I really love John Candy and Uncle Buck is a film I'm very fond of. He was so great at playing the lovable oaf and the scenes with the kids (the little ones and the teenage daughter) are funny and poignant to me.
Wild at Heart, Australian Wildling. I think this is a Wildling (Ves told me it was, so that's good enough for me!), it measures 30 x 40". I really like the simple colours and layout and it's an affordable alternative to the UK paper of the same design
(http://i.imgur.com/uVqOaFYh.jpg)
-
Nice Tob, always loved that Wild At Heart. When I worked at my local multiplex as a teenager we had lots of that design in the lobby. The Manager hated the design so much he walked around tearing them down, screwing them into a big ball of paper. By the time I got to him to save some he'd destroyed all of them :'(

Oh no! That's a sad story, I really love the colours on the UK version. So much pretty paper must have been consigned to the rubbish over the years, it's a great shame!

Definitely one of my favourite posters from the 80s. Still yet to snag one myself. Nice catch!
-
Awesome pickup Jason.
-
El Charro del Cristo by Juanino Renau. Loosely translates as "Cowboy for Christ". Incidentally, "Cowboys for Christ" is the name of the book by Robin Hardy which was the sequel to the "Wicker Man" and basis for the movie the "Wicker Tree" (but has nothing to do with the Mexican movie other than the similar title). I can't resist an opportunity to mention a connection to the Wicker Man, no matter how tenuous.

I thought I was the only knucklehead on this board with this poster.

One-sheet size?
DS or SS?

Finally took the plunge and bought one of these..
Was always put off by the wrong title for the film. It is a UK 1sht.

Nice pick ups! Especially love the second one. Great minimalist style.
And love the Twins of Evil Paul!

I am not a big fan of most modern posters but this would look awesome as a bus stop.

Hi there. It's just a few hours away from the 1st. So, instead of doing my usual sneak peek of my new acquisitions on the first of the month (and hogging the new Recent Acqs thread once again), I thought I'd just tag it on to the end of this month's and let someone else "be first" for September...especially since my new stuff this time is kind of lame (and will be progressively lamer as time goes by). The below is just a sample---not the best/not the worst.
But first, let me just say GemGem, those posters you got certainly ARE gem-gems! VERY nice. TED--that WONDER WOMAN.... YOWZA!!!!!!!! Stun-a-rama sexy! Good job.
Now here is my little sampling of my Sept 1st stuff:
THE DEVIL AND LEROY BASSETT:
I've never heard of this one--but it might be for an interesting movie...or a piece of poop.
TRANSMUTATIONS:
Silly, cheesy chills and thrills. It's such a dumb poster....but i am drawn to it for some reason. Ha!
MY BLOODY VALENTINE (Japanese B2):
I know we are months away from Valentine's Day....but when one comes across a holiday-themed poster, whatever month it is can not be helped.
August saw some great posters for all of you. Here's hoping September will be the best month for poster hunting yet! I'm sooooo looking forward to seeing your NEW STUFF! Whoo hooo!
If anyone is at all interested, I'll be posting my Sept 1st post in my thread in just a little bit (but don't hold your breath. it's really NOT that exciting).
Cheers!
