Title: Greetings APF
Post by: laikaislost on July 19, 2016, 01:39:44 PM
Hello APF!  I guess I am new here, so I will give a bit of an introduction.

I am a younger guy who has been slowly collecting posters for about 12 years now.  I started young with my first job at the local multi-plex grabbing whatever posters the managers didn't get to first.  By 2007, I moved into the projection booth, and really fell in love with film and the whole theater experience.  Eventually, I finished college and joined the professional workforce, and my poster collecting has been near zero for a few years.

Then, going through my fathers storage unit, I found a bunch of old TWA and Air-India One Sheets, and that got me back into posters.  And now, just three months ago, a move reminded me how many heavy tubes of DS 1-sheets I have, and got me thinking about how to fill my large wall space.  So I started by ignoring them all and splurged on getting an old Roger Corman 3-sheet backed and framed.  Just came back from the framers last week, and I can't get over how good it looks.  I now need more 50s movie posters...  Ugh...

 welcome2.gif, again, to APF.

Your 3 sheet looks fantastic! Nice framing job, too!

How many travel posters did you find in the storage unit? The 2 on the wall are killer.

Ill try to get photos of all the travel posters when I can (the best ones are currently on display at other family members houses)!  The most interesting ones for me to find have been the Air India posters, because I can't find other photos of them online anywhere.

I wish I had that one, it's in a three way tie for Africa and california redwoods from the set.  I do have Africa, though it is in rough shape and desperately needs to be backed.

Probably 20 ish.  Mostly TWA, Air India, and Braniff.

Love the 3 sheet on the wall  thumbsup.gif

Nice TWA posters too. I have a few TWA, air France and air India shown in this thread (http://www.allposterforum.com/index.php/topic,1587.msg21480.html#msg21480). There are a couple of Braniff posters with great art I've been searching for unsuccessfully for so long. It sounds like you might have them based on you collection so far. Cool.

What you are displaying looks like my taste... the large 50s posters and travel. Good on you, and Welcome!

Nice mix there, looks killer.  One of these days I will frame a 3 sheet.  Where did you get it?  Bet all your friends are jealous!

Welcome aboard!

I concur with everyone else here. The posters are very, VERY nice. The vintage travel posters are cool and the three sheet for THE VIKING WOMEN AND THE SEA SERPENT is gorgeous! I have the one sheet...and can only imagine how it would look framed and hanging. Thanks for giving me some idea of what it would be like. Good luck with your quest and keep the pictures coming.
