I am not a huge anime guy, but I do appreciate the look and I think it should have its own thread.

How about one of the granddaddy's of all anime? This was one of the first cartoons with mature themes and basically paved the way for much of the "serious" anime to come -- from Akira to Ghost in the Shell. It was never released in the US, but a company here has been working on a 4K restoration since 2014. They just announced a theatrical release starting in May and a blu-ray to follow. Very excited to finally see this one with English subtitles!

I can watch Japanase animation for hours. Great Akira Matt. It has been in my list to get for years. There is something about Otomo's world that speaks to me.

By the way, I just recently found out about the upcoming 4K release of this film -- after the above posting I had a wild hare to contact Cinelicious to see if I could donate my poster for one of their screenings to help raise funds for their effort. I got a response within minutes! They politely declined to have it donated to them -- but they did offer to contact The Cinefamily at the Silent Movie Theater on Fairfax Ave. in LA. They are a non-profit theater and will be screening Belladonna of Sadness for a week starting May 13th. I still need to work out the details, but is there anyone at APF in the LA area who could help me get the poster to them to display? Please let me know via PM or through my website. Thanks!

The Silent Movie Theater is wonderful, tho it was better back when it was owned and operated by the original owner. He had such a love for this era and those films. (And i do like silent films, too, as well as good memories attending screenings there back then, so I guess I'm a bit biased).
While its great that it is still there, it's also now available to rent out for parties, and the like, so it's lost a bit of its original core qnd "gut" charm - to screen silent films, and have a great (but simple) concession counter in the lobby. pcorn
But, the important thing is- the theater Is Still There and operating.
And that's a good thing. thumbsup.gif

I haven't watch any apart from a TV series called Chin Chan and watched about 50 episodes in Spain all dubbed in Spanish... Couldn't understand hardly anything but it was reasonable to watch

Very cool collection T and Tob. It is just getting harder and harder to find B1s. Here is a small Ghibli collection for myself with 3 Howl's Moving Castle, 2 My Neighbors the Yamadas and a full collection of Olly Moss' Ghibli prints to be found somewhere in the cabinet.

Just out of curiosity, I have seen the much rarer B1 for Porco Rosso for multiple times, but I have never seen a B1 for The Wind Rises (B2s appear from time to time). Anyone knows why or is it just a rare poster to chase around. Thanks in advance.

I need to get some paper for Porco Rosso. I seem to remember seeing some B1s for Wind Rises a while ago (artwork same as B2), but they were really expensive so I passed as the US/Aus one sheets are quite similar (interesting how they are all slightly different variations). Haven't seen any for a while though.

They are very cheap setups for taking pictures. Here is the breakdown:
