I'll start off the month with another Mexican travel poster. A while back I paid over $100 for a lesser copy of this poster from an EMP auction. So I was very happy to find another copy in great condition for sale for only 40 EUR.

Some of us are well into the first day of March. In fact, we knew the results of the Academy Awards almost a day before the Americans did

I really love this poster and am amazed you got it at such a great price. It's one of my favorite travel posters. I've seen it go for MUCH MUCH more - for me it's always been out of reach. Such great design, really happy you have it.

Hombre!!!!

Sorry for the intermission. We can now go back to our english language program... ;D

Thanks! I could hardly believe it when I randomly found the poster for sale from a bookseller based in Spain. I had admired this poster for quite a while too. It really makes me want to visit Xochimilco! The poster makes the canals seem so romantic and beautiful. Though urban sprawl and environmental degradation means the real place probably has no hope of living up to my imagination (or the image on the poster).

Here are some posters from the Cultural Program of the 1968 Mexico City Olympics (I also posted the two film-related posters in the Movie Poster Latest Acquisitions thread). Besides the film festival, the posters are advertising events related to space exploration, energy, poetry, and dance.
My favorite is probably the space exploration one.

More Mexico travel posters (all 1940's I believe).
They have quite a lot of wrinkling but are otherwise in good condition, i.e. vivid colors and no paper loss. Probably good candidates for linen backing.

I really dig this General Motors one. I wish I was by that tree in the shade drinking tequila.

Just don't get pricked by that cactus, Vick. Keep a little distance. ;)
