Title: Travel
Post by: linder1 on December 17, 2009, 09:19:10 PM
Could be a subset of advertising, I know, but I think it is substantially different and attracts a different collector?  I know that there are certainly dealers that specialize in this.

I agree that it's different.  It's so different that I tend to stay away from the travel posters though some of  'em are awesome. Someone recently auctioned some great old airline posters and I couldn't touch the prices on them.  Definitely a good suggestion.

Can you post a link or PM me with info on the auction?  I know just about zero on these.

If I can remember where the hell I saw them. It might have been Bruce.  If/When it occurs to me, I'll let you know.

Any guidance on where exactly to find said posters on Bonhams?

Past results are simply lot numbers... search for travel doesn't turn up much as far as I can tell.

If it's just lost that is fine.

Just found this auction house that specializes (partially) in travel posters.  Looks pretty interesting in general.

Actually, it looks like they break it down even further into Transport and Travel... I think that's probably overkill for here...

In other news, I just bought my first two travel (one travel, one is transport) posters and I will happily post them in the forthcoming Travel section when they arrive here.  Thanks to APF, I've been set free!

And that's a good thing, Erich?  The last time I was set free, I bought too much from you!

It's a double edged sword, that's for sure.

Erich,

Here are the results for the QANTAS ones I saw at a recent auction at Bonhams:

The link doesn't work directly Ves but no problem just need to punch in 'Qantas' in the search.

That is the auction I was thinking of when I posted earlier.
