Title: Help with shipping from UK to US
Post by: pratschm on September 26, 2016, 08:57:03 AM
Hello all.
Was wondering if anyone might be willing to help me get a set of banners shipped from the UK to the US.
Looking at a package probably around 5ft (160cm) long and about 8in (21cm) x 8in (21cm), weighing around 20lbs (10kg).
This would be a part 2 to my ebay GSP horror story from a couple months ago.
Thanks a ton (tonne) in advance.

What are we trying to get round?  Excessive postage costs from a seller, import charges?

How will the banners get from seller to your designated forwarding agent?  Will they already be packed or do they have to be picked up from somewhere?

I can probably help, based on the above working being answered.

Cheers.

Nothing shifty going on here, it's just that the seller does not ship internationally. I was hoping to have them ship domestically, and then having the package forwarded.
Hope that answers your questions.

Keep us posted what happens guys, I was asked to ship some over there last year, but said the postage cost was going to be horrendous...

Hey Paul.
I was able to arrange shipping with the seller, I just had to do it myself.
I used Parcel2Go to schedule a pickup via FedEx Express. Package was 160cm x 21cm x 21cm, around 10kg, and valued at 90 GBP. Shipping cost was just under 63 GBP, fully insured, 1-3 business days delivery.
I had checked FedEx directly, but they were like 155 EUR. I think Parcel2Go gets lower rates due to doing "bulk" shipping.
Hope that helps.

Also, shout out to Simes for offering to help. Awesome folks, those APFers.  thumbup
