Now I am starting to understand as to why people only buy from reputable auction houses. Just received a poster in the mail.
The item description contains
"Ok condition. Wear & tear to bottom right & top left edges, some wear to folded areas. No pinholes. "
Should it not say trimmed. NOT wear and tear!?
I am okay with the tears but when I get the poster, I notice its severely trimmed! moron1 moron1 moron1 Trimmed sides, top/bottom
What do you do? Contacted seller, waiting for a response...
-
Sounds severely trimmed. :-X
Do you want to keep it in that state, even with a possible partial refund?
Or is it one you can find again, more easily.. and simply want to ship it back altogether for a full refund? You are protected, so that's good to know, too.
-
Didn't care about the rips. But I can't stand the fact of the poster being trimmed. I don't want it at all knowing that, but know its probably going to cost a bit to ship back to the UK. It wasn't much $$ at all. But the fact that it was trimmed just bugs me. I can find one easily, not a big deal. But don't like that it wasn't disclosed.
Measurements were barely 29x39.
-
Item is not as described.
Put the seller and Ebay/Paypal on notice for a full refund and insist that the seller foot the shipping costs.
Bastards.
-
I sent a request in. See what happens.
-
Good, Mike.
Best of luck and keep us posted.
cheers
And if he don't honor the shipping charges, send the Bod Squad over for a visit.

lol Will do ;D

If you have to ship it back.. and it's NOT as described/trimmed... would the seller cover the return cost? One might think he should or would.
You certainly have more than a valid reason for wanting to send it back.
Not even a question, Mike.
-
I would assume it should be covered, but I have a feeling the seller is going to make a fuss about it though.
Like I said, I am fine with the rips and tears, but not it being trimmed..

Right on... a HUGE NO NO, if not divulged!!

Seller is denying it was trimmed. And wants me to pay return shipping costs.
Yet, under his username- beholds another quad that he sold. That has this in the description-
""Excellent clean condition with no real wear but unfortunately the sides of the poster have been trimmed off in order to fit a frame. ""
-
Mike .. can u show a pic of the poster in question?
-
Mike.. since he is denying it is trimmed, you should lay it out with a measuring tape, and snap a couple pics to show him (be sure to show the starting point of the tape, too, so he cant say you slid it to make it measure what you want it to show).
He advertises this poster as a quad and knows what the measurements are. He wont be able to argue that, unless he tries to then claim that YOU trimmed it.

Even though he had other auctions that he had stated those ones were trimmed. That's not right. I'm not going to pay the shipping cost ($15) to send it back.
-
Agree... my idea was tho..that the tape measure pics wont lie.. and if it shows it as 29x39, how can he refute it and then refuse to pay the shipping for a damaged/trimmed quad? (Unless he would just choose to be a real jerk that way). :-\
-
The first picture had the tape measure in it. But he didn't say anything in regards to that.
-
UGH! -- figures! moron1

I included that pic in the Open Case, he only sent back he wants another visual evidence that it was trimmed and isn't paying the postal return or refund shipping.

Such as what? Measurements are the best evidence of that.
This seller is gonna be a pain in the arse.. no doubt about it, Mike. hitself

Tell him/her/it that if they don't pay the shipping, you'll out 'em on the interweb's most widely respected forum.
And then go find that forum and out 'em.

Keep ebay/paypal abreast of your attempts to negotiate with this turd.
If all else fails...

This and pics. Get those pics into the ebay messages so when they step in, it's all there from the beginning.

lmao. laugh1
I have the pics uploaded. And included some in the ebay case. He said he will give a refund upon receiving the poster, less any shipping costs... Which I still don't agree with

You have a total case here, Mike. With the pics you took, showing it to not measure a full 30x40, I would think it would be very iron clad with PP and the bay.
-
After providing proof. I even said to compare with the image he used. To compare with another poster. He is agreeing it had been trimmed. But is refusing any shipment cost refund
-
In the end e-Bay will at a minimum send you a UPS label to ship it back to him and then they will take it out of his account. Have been there many times where a seller said or described one thing and then what arrived was a mess and expected me to pay to return it. Have not had it go another way yet when they refused to pay return shipping.
-
Mike If you opened a dispute you should be fine..
Two things I'd like to know, what was the poster (not all quads are a full 30x40 ), and who is the seller?
-
No luck with refund yet. Dispute is still opened.
Luck just gets better. Purchased an 8P French poster from another seller. And I receive 7/8 panels, with the 8th panel belonging to another poster. eyeroll Doh.gif
No reply from that seller as of yet. But he has high feedback. I am hoping he makes it right too...

Ouch! :-[

Mike. your refund dispute should be an open and shut case, I would think.
Good luck... and, re: the 7/8 of the other French 8P..I hope he finds the last section for you.
-
We'll see and I'll post the updates in this thread. Going to keep it my ebay negative experiences thread. Doh.gif
He hasn't responded to me as of yet. I hope he does, I would like that 8th Panel that is mising, I opened a case just to be sure he responds. I hope he gets back to me...
-
You didn't get what you ordered, case closed.
Seller pays for return postage.
Saying that, ebay are turning into such c*@!% these days. I could rant here but i'll hold back. thumbsup.gif
-
I am now less concerned about that trimmed poster, and more concerned about the French 8 Panel... At least, in the picture the seller had posted, you can see it's trimmed if analyzed closely in comparison with other ones. But the 8Panel, I am now more worried about as it cost a lot more than the trimmed poster and its pretty much worthless too without that 8th panel.... spew
-
What's the 8 panel film/image, Mike?
-
Star wars trilogy 8p
-
Both transactions were dealt with. :)
Refunds given.
-
Good to hear, Mike!
Nice that it all worked out the way it should have.

when you have these issues, be a hard ass on the sellers. If all they understand is a gun to the head, pull it out & point it at him
-
I had instance where eBay seller sold me an "original" Star Wars Gone With the Wind style one sheet only to find upon delivery that it was a undersized reprint from the 1990's. After I contacted seller he eventually acknowledged that but still refused to accept return as in his mind eBay is "buyer beware". Ebay found in my favor of course and issued me a return label with the shipping costs deducted from the seller.
Should happen in your case as well. General rule on eBay/Paypal is that if not as described it is to be shipped back at seller's expense for full refund.

Great to hear! thumbsup.gif
You get that 8th panel or returned as part of the refund?
-
Refund.
-
Glad you got your money back but sorry about two disappointments in a row.
Especially the 7/8p SW Trilogy... that just sucks Jedi snot.
-
Glad you have your money and thank you for sharing this experience here. It is comforting to read you can get your money back if things don't go according to plan.
-
As much as it's good to be refunded, I hate not getting what I wanted. I'd rather have the poster than the money any day.
Bad things should happen to people like that... moron1
-
Totally agree, Paul. It's like when you get a poster damaged in shipping due to inept packing - I don't want the danged refund, I wanted the poster that I bought. Aggravatin', as old mountain men are want to say.

Totally with you on this sentiment, too, Paul. Big time!

Mike, did you end up keeping the French 8p for the SW Trilogy? Or did that seller ever happen to come up with the missing panel?
And same question with the quad... a keeper? Or did it go back?
