Is that the original art from Octopussy, Thomas? Welcome! Okie
-
Yes, this is the original movie poster concept art by Dan Goozeé. This concept was approved an then he painted the final art...
-
you should find some fun here Thomas..
-
Hey Thomas, how long have you been putting your collection together?
And how many pieces , in total, make it up?

That's barely 25 posters a year, I think you will find you're well off the pace of many here.
As your US counsel, I too welcome you to the boards - hope you enjoy it. ;)

Excited to see the breadth of your collection, Thomas! What are your top two favorite pieces?
Welcome to the forum!

Oh yeah, that's the good stuff!!! The painting looks like it has survived very well. Bad guy only brought a knife to a spear fishing fight! Okie

Must admit I am not sure about that one... The gun barrel looks a little out of line.
But superb that it is 'up'.
Cheers.

1000 individual (as I suspect) BOND posters...I don't think that's off the pace.
Having that number, or near it, puts you up there.
Not many of us with those numbers for Bond alone, I can tell you.
Thomas's collection is amazing.
-
Yes, 1000+ Bond posters and 250+ original 007 posters...
Had a lot of stuff from other movies but focused and specialized my collection on Bond & Espionage posters & art in the last years...
-
Thomas - is there any particular Bond piece which you really need/want that you have not been able to find? With a collection that large i assume there would not be many posters which you don't own - the original artwork maybe a different story.
Really look forward to seeing more of your collection
Enjoy your time on here thumbsup.gif
Cheers

This original McGinnis artwork from "You Only Live Twice" I really want. Was outbid at auction TWICE - in 2000 and 2010. Do not know where it is now..
-
Maybe in 2020...?? Good luck.
Has McGinnis signed it anywhere?
-
Yes, it is signed at the lower right... must post a better picture

Rare original release australian 1-Sheet from "Dr. No"
-
Hmmm. The colours there all look to be slightly jazzed up over the original.
If it weren't for the shouty, 'Not Suitable...' bubble, I would Really like this. As it is, I just really like this...
-
Thomas, correct me if I'm wrong but the Australian posters are all stone litho's, even into the 1960's, which accounts for the posters looking similar to regular American counterparts, but not really. Photo lithography came in later. All the early Connery Bonds are stone litho, even YOLT, I think. OHMSS onward were photo litho's.
I think you just gave Simon an idea..... :D
-
I would need some advice on this poster.
It is 22" x 28" and I think it is the "lobby card" as shown in the UK campaign book..
Thoughts ?
-
Good grief. I really have no idea.
I saw in all the Campaign Books the advertising of the 22x28 lobby cards but have never come across anything resembling them - ever.
I daresay you are right. An amazing find, to be sure.

"On Her Majesty's Secret Service" (1969):
Rare spanish window card
12" x 24"

Seeing all these various items from your BOND collection are great, Thomas.
Thanks for sharing the images of everything, so far. clap clap clap
And this Spanish WC is really cool, too.

Super cool. Really digging this thread. Thanks for posting!!!
-
Thomas, thanks for posting some of the goodies from your vault. Your book is still among the best poster books made for the Bond's. Have you ever contemplated printing an updated edition? I know there is a market for it, since you have posters and original art that has never been printed in book form anywhere.
-
Have you seen, read, come across the book that was produced for the Bond poster exhibition in Germany...??? Museum Folkwang.
I got a copy from Peter Lorenz, he of the Illustrated Bond blog. This book is sublime. Full of goodness. It is a soon to be long held position of mine to be upset I never travelled to visit.
-
I've seen the cover, seen it offered on the net and the price for it went through the roof, just like the Japanese Viva OO7 book. Since it's a museum catalog not easily available to the public, I don't really count it. I had an order for it at Amazon for 2+ years and they finally said it wasn't available. I know a former collector on this side of the pond (Firuta) had 2 of them and they went to Heritage along with everything else.

Alright!!
