Title: Klaus Dill
Post by: peckinpah on February 12, 2017, 03:40:14 AM
Klaus Dill (1922 - 2000) is very popular over here. The 50s generation also knew him well because he illustrated the covers / front page of a beloved comic series in Germany. I like him too a lot of course, but not as much as WENDT, REHAK or PELTZER. Next to Renato Casaro the only poster artist of that era I ever met in person.

Great image for Lonely Are The Brave. I seem to recall reading that it is Kirk Douglas's favourite film of the ones he made - saw it recently on tv, still a top film.

Yes, his favorite film. It was his project in a way... Next to PATHS OF GLORY maybe his best film, out of so many great ones :).

German posters? Yes, great stuff. As in Italy cinema was the biggest thing here after fascism & war, and the distributors in the 50s & 60s spent good money for great adverting material. The lobby set for LAWRENCE OF ARABIA had 50 glossy hand tinted cards, THUNDERBALL even 65 cards (2 different sets)!

If you want certain titles, feel free to contact me :)

I like Dill's Curucu better than the American version.
Sharp looking poster.

Hi Peckinpah!  Thanks for the dead-eye Doris as well as our Ms. Day in her skivvies!  I think Janet Leigh has some serious competition for that Psycho role now...   Okie
