Even though it's free material, given recent SENSITIVITIES I'm posting this here. Maybe this will become a lively thread. I know I have a lot of freebie quality material laying around and I suspect I'm not alone.
So here are my "free" terms: for these items send me $6 for postage in the US b/c I'm going to put these in between cardboard and put them in a priority mail envelope or equivalent.
My Left Foot chirashi:

and a couple of Naruto pamphlet type things:

Take one or all, the marginal cost is zero.

I'm giving away 75 pretty decent posters. That's right, giving away gratis. You must pay actual cost of shipping - at this point I will estimate $10 per tube but more posters means more weight. I'm not trying to make any money but I certainly don't want to lose any. Here is the site (http://web.me.com/alphamel1968/POSTER_NIRVANA/Free_Posters.html):
http://web.me.com/alphamel1968/POSTER_NIRVANA/Free_Posters.html (http://web.me.com/alphamel1968/POSTER_NIRVANA/Free_Posters.html)
Please send me a PM with your list IN ORDER OF PREFERENCE. Please only request posters that you want for your personal collection and you intend to keep it for at least one year - NO FLIPPERS. Please request a minimum of 5 but no more than 15.
Really I would prefer to ship to US only at this point - it's a major hassle to ship to international destinations and impossible to predict the shipping price.
All posters in VERY GOOD TO GOOD condition and are original UNLESS otherwise noted. SS=Single sided, DS=DoubleSided F=Folded, R=Rolled. I am giving away duplicates or posters I no longer want. I trashed all reprints and poor quality posters, so there’s no junk here, although a couple of the older posters are in "fair" condition.
Please DO NOT ASK about condition or for a picture of a particular picture. It’s been a huge pain organizing this and I’m tempted to trash the whole lot, so please give me a break. If I’ve used a generic picture, I assure you it’s in good condition.

This is a 20"x30" Cuban silkscreen SS print for the Three Musketeers. I don't think it's from 1976 but I'm sure it's from Cuba - the seller was a former Washington Post reporter who imports prints directly from Cuba.
I paid $60 for it but never really loved it for some reason. (Maybe because it's so different from my other posters.) I stuck it in a frame and forgot about it. When I found it and pulled it from the frame it had slight - and probably permanent - compression waves in certain places from being framed long-term. (You can't see them well in this picture). It's printed on high quality acid-free paper.
So if you want it - and can live with a bit of crinkling - it's yours for actual cost of postage. Send me a PM telling me why you want it, e.g. "I've always wanted a Cuban poster"; "my wife is Cuban and would want this as a gift." I'll give it to the person with the most interest. (And usually only one or two people want this free stuff anyway so it's not really much of a contest.)
P.S. If this post is still up, it's still available. If it's gone, I'll delete this post or update this thread.

Free Heritage July 2012 catalog for the first person to post in this thread (no emails), plus actual postage. It's pretty heavy, so I'd expect $10 US and $15-$20 international.

Mel, the Cubans on stark white paper are reprints from the 1990s. The rare originals are on a creamy textured paper and are usually found in lesser condition.

How much is it to buy them from HA now? I actually was looking to get one since I won one of the posters.

They will surely give you one for free if you ask. And now that you spent a bunch, you will get every new one forever.

I still think an annual charity fund raising event could be a good thing.
Who cares what the charity is..I have a few Quads I would gladly include every year.

I asked, they said it would be $25 PLUS $5 for shipping. That seems a bit excessive for a single catalog for an auction that is over now.

Dear Grey - I just spent $5K on the [insert poster] at your auction, I wonder if you could throw in for free a catalogue of that auction so I can have it as a keepsake coffeee table memento of my purchase. Love Enki.
If they don't send you one...tsk tsk tsk

Or how about I add:
P.S. - After the auction, and after your Heritage Live site told me I had won, it later changed that status to "OUTBID, Sorry you did not win". A follow-up call to your Dallas HQ yielded even more aggravating results, where one of your CSRs told me that my bids somehow "weren't valid" and that someone else bid and won the item for the exact same price that I bid. She further stated that, even though the live auction screen said I won and that it wouldn't have let me bid again (since it thought I was the high bidder), none of that matters since my bids "didn't count". After first saying that a floor bidder was the winner, changing the story half way through the call to say another Heritage Live bidder won, she further went on to say that no supervisors were available because it was after 4PM in Dallas and they all went home. When I finally asked politely, which was quite difficult as I was livid at this point, for her to check the time stamps of the bids, she magically found a supervisor who said he would "look into it first thing tomorrow morning". Fortunately, my wife was also on the phone with someone at the Beverly Hills office who pulled a manager off of the auction floor, who looked into the problem and realized that one of your employees screwed up and entered the winning bidder ID incorrectly in one of your two systems. They fixed the problem, and I was declared "the winner", but only after about 30mins worth of aggravating mis- and incorrect information. I feel a free catalog is more than fair as a gesture of consideration for the ordeal you put me and my wife through. Thanks.
-
I shot Gray an email. Let's see what he says. ;)

I always wanted a free Heritage catalog, especially the one where they sold the posters of that historic find in Pennsylvania where they found all those early 30s posters. Amazing to hear they charge so much for them even if you bought something in their auction!

I know. We get a few other auction catalogs, and while some charge a small fee to cover expenses, it's usually something like $20 for a year. It is after all a sales catalog. And while it's primary purpose (to get your to buy things at the auction) is over, now any extra they have on hand are basically trash - outside of being useful for people who already gave them money.
Let's hope Gary does the right thing :). I'll let everyone know when/if he responds.

Christie's Dec 1990 catalog - 80 color pages from one of the first major poster auctions. Bruce & Co organized this auction, many of the posters came from Charles Dyas, a theater manager in the 1920s/1930s.
I have a duplicate copy of this, so giving away for free to the first person who posts in this thread to claim it. Free postage to US, actual costs for international. (It's not very heavy.)

Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but wouldn't it have been more fair to say "Free shipping to US, actual cost minus U.S. cost to international"?
It would cost you the same either way.

Ruined but good-looking Goldfinger re-release one sheet (some moo-ron - namely moi - traced the folds with permanent magic marker back in the day) - pretty sure I paid $100 for it:

Some random mediocre/theater-used current releases - Die Hard 6, Lawless, Immortals, Apollo 18, Now You See Me:

For newbie US collectors only.
I'll ship you this 75th anniversary WOO 1S for free to the first person who posts a reply.

I'm replying---but I don't need it. I have one, i am pretty sure. I love WIZARD OF OZ and caught the 3D version TWICE. I've always loved the film. It was part of my childhood and remains a touchstone to it. However, as I already have one (?), I'd love to pass this on to one of the newbies....say anyone who joined AFTER me (January 2015). Same rules apply? Can i do that? AND THANK YOU for such a generous offer. WHY are you giving it away?
-
Great to see a giveaway, thanks for that !! People is this forum should be grateful for this gesture.
Not US based and not WOO fan so clearly not for me but pretty sure someone will express interest... unless this forum has no newbie which is somehow worrying :)
-
Yep I'm not rah-rah USA but is a major PITA to ship internationally.
Monster_A_GoGo, not following you. Isn't it most efficient for me to give it away?
I really prefer illustrated posters nowadays.
-
Sorry, Mel. I replied...but was doing so to "claim it" for some newbie with a fledgling poster collection. I think it is wonderful of you to give it away. That is VERY kind of you.
Oh, DUH! You put on there a stipulation it was for newbies already. Ha! I didn't see that until just now. Well, we BOTH had the right idea to help out the new ones...but you are the groovy daddy-O who is giving it away. Thank you for doing that. Now all you need is a newbie to respond.
Ignore me. i need to get to bed.,
CHEERS!

I've a copy and thought it cost me a bit to buy, so looks like a good score for someone
.
-
Surely I am not the only who has MP stuffs to give away gratis 🎶
Anyway I genuinely messed up again. I bought 2 FYEOs for some reason. I THINK Gsnipe incorrectly told me I lost the first one and I bid again the next week for a similar poster.
So I'll ship this one gratis world-wide ON ONE CONDITION....

You must post why you want it, e.g. JB is your hero (lamo), you love ... er ... comely chicks on 2d paper (truth!), etc.
New "winners" only....
I have been bidding on this poster for some years, I was hoping to get one one day... Reason is because I think it is one great poster ever, in regards of composition (the shot between the legs) and it made so much controversy (ban of posters, back bikini being blacked out + plus the all story of the two models arguing who was used for the legs). There are some great article online as well as interview of that British guy behind the poster (forgot his name). This image became a classic in movie poster composition
Too bad, I missed the giveaway... I blame the time zone :) But at least you know what I wanted it bad.
Funny, yesterday, I just created a thread about "between the leg shots"

I think it is free if you are a high value customer and you regularly log into the ha.com site. If not you pay $200 per year for them from memory.
Yeah, pretty disappointed Heritage stopped sending me a free catalogue. I'm not a huge bidder on their stuff but if I accumulate everything I've bought from them I expect it's close to 5 figures and I at least log in to their site once a week to see what they are offering.
Oh well, I guess I'm just a pauper to Heritage and it's business model.
-
I log in about once every few months. I bought a poster about $4K about 10 years and not much from them since and still get them 4 times a year to Australia. I did intially pay one year subscription. So not sure why I still get them but I like them!
-
I always wanted COTD if it is still up for grabs Mel I would love to have it.
Just in time for H, I'm giving away (inc postage) this creepy/cool COTD. Below is a similar photo of the actual poster. I lost the auction photo and have never opened the package. I replaced it with a better quality copy.

I like BAT because the cigarette nearly set the cat on fire

Actually that near cruelty is why I would not like this poster. Thank you
Generous offer though thumbsup.gif

Why not send it to Bruce and ask him to donate the proceeds to charity?

Let's just give it away since it's only worth $114. But I did donate $100 to AH's charity today:

Good luck to whoever gets the BAT very generous Mel.
I would call it but I was lucky enough to get the Children of the Damned. Thanks man
Have a good day. Jason

BAT was my very first AH movie I ever saw. I was pretty young and it playing on PBS I think, (my parents were watching). I didn't really "get" the storyline because of my age. But I was completely in love with AH. I loved her voice and everything about her, (keeping in mind I was probably around 8). But by watching her in this movie, it drew me in to watching more older movies and specifically wanting to watch more of her movies as I got older. In short, BAT was the beginning of my now life long AH appreciation.
And on a side note, if I win, it'll be the re-start of my poster collection and my first AH poster....
-
Can't beat that!!!

Alright I got the Children of the damned OS and Mel included a Cat People poster. Thanks for the little bonus poster. Funny thing is that I have a Cat People bumper sticker for some reason but didn’t have the poster.
Ran out of time to take a picture of the posters...probably because I was too busy doing this with the packing peanuts. (Do I thank Rich for these peanuts? :) )

I am honored the King of Free time thinks I have a lot of free time. ( that packing peanut thing was a much needed brainless activity after arriving home from work) When you were working full-time DC somehow you seemed to have more free time to delve into our hobby than all of us out together.

Thanks again

I want them too!
What's something that Mel doesn't know ..... hmmmmm.... difficult .....
The reason why Chinese chopsticks and Japanese chopsticks are different:
While both countries use chopsticks as their main eating utensil, Japanese style chopsticks have a a "pointy" end whereas Chinese chopsticks usually have a square end. The reason for this is because the Japanese traditional diet (at least in the past) consisted of a lot more fish and the pointy ends made it easier to separate the fish flesh from the bones.
As well, a bit of Japanese chopstick etiquette:
Chopsticks should never be stuck upright in a bowl of rice as this is how rice and chopsticks are "given" to a deceased person at his or her wake.
As well, you should never pass food from "chopstick" to chopstick. After the cremation of the body, the deceased person's relatives will place the remaining bones in an urn. Often two members (standing on either side of the cremated remains) will each pick up one end of a larger bone and work together to place it in the urn.
It's perfectly fine to eat sushi without chopsticks and using your hands. Wasabi should be placed directly on the fish and not mixed with the soy sauce. The rice should not be dipped into the soy sauce as it soaks up too much of it.
ummmmm .... how was that?
-
Ha, Hicks77 wins! Fascinating info re chopsticks, which I never learned to use properly, but I guess nowadays there are 10,000+ YouTube videos that will teach you.
It will take me 30+ days to get these out and I'll throw in a few more.
Pls PM me your address and forward whatever posters you don't want to Wormie, who, like Trump, doesn't like reading! ;D

Thanks so much Mel! Very generous of you, I'll PM you my details. Cheers again notworthy.gif thumbsup.gif
