And another Modern poster that is hand drawn, looks the same hand as the Graduate rerelease from earlier in the year...

Nice pickup Paul!
It is reminiscent of GODFATHER artist Rory Kurtz, but so far no one has been given credit.
Excellent poster.

You bet.
Maybe the alternative movie poster craze is having some effect on the studios.
One can only hope, eh?

Just blew the budget with the ET Heritage win. ET was the first film i saw in a cinema when i was four so it has always been a special movie to me. Been outbid many times so "over the moon" to finally have this poster. I don't normally frame as most of my posters are on backing boards but this one is going up. Happy with the condition of vf/near mint 9.0 thumbsup.gif

That's a great poster. Definitely in my top 3 ET posters.

Thank T, Ted and Rich.
Rich happy to hear that i got a good price i wasn't to sure what i should bid too but set a $1,200 limit which i thought was a fairly reasonable price to pay at auction.
I wasn't expecting a bargain but more than happy to pay what i thought was fair value for a poster which is at the top of my want list.
Thanks Mel, the poster looks wonderful in a frame - do you plan on getting a copy in Round 2??

I got 1600 for the last one I sold in 8/9. I had a bunch at one point. Now I only have my copy & a 'trader' for down the road. It's an attractive poster framed & hanging
-
In Round 1, I weekly perused EVERY eBay pre-1990 MP auction, so I picked up some great bargains but I had to take the risk of fakes.
I first in 2009 picked up a fake ET for $350 but got refunded:
http://moviepostercollectors.guide/MPC_Authentication_ET_Unreleased_OS.html (http://moviepostercollectors.guide/MPC_Authentication_ET_Unreleased_OS.html)
Then I took another chance on a seller from GA who was selling three ET moon/bikes. I got the last slightly-damaged one for $300 and it was legit.
So I would only buy again if it went super-cheap.

BTW Mark Lawd owns a hyper-rare 41", see above link:

Prices on these "Art Deco" 1Ss have steadily dropped over the years, so I was able to "recover" this one relatively cheap:

Hey Jeff believe it's the German Artist..."Hans Otto Wendt, 1957" - I'll have in hand in a few days for confirmation.
-
those dates align with 1955
Mau Mau is a British docu-movie made in 1955, that is during the British colony and few years after the Mau Mau (rebel group) uprising which started in 1952.
This cheap docu-movie is made for UK audience and aim was to shock the audience by detailing atrocities made by the Mau Mau cult. The movie can be seen here - http://www.historicfilms.com/tapes/2101 It is clearly a docu-propaganda movie and precursor of the mondo/shockumentary popular in the 60s and 70s, especially the ones produced by the controversial Gualtiero Jacopetti known for his politically oriented faux documentaries ("Africa Addio" and "Goodbye Uncle Tom").
Note that the same year, another movie called "Simba; the Mark of Mau Mau" was also released, featuring Dirk Bogarde and Virginia McKenna which is much better. The American released one movie called "Something of Value" in 1957 about the same subject (based on a novel) and starring Rock Hudson and Sidney Poitier which is great !

It's no masterpiece, but I like the set up and it's quite imaginative. It's also British, so I give it some slack for that.

Really Rich, quibbling over "rare" is silly. That set sold twice for 270/180 at EMP in the last two weeks and is nowhere to be found elsewhere.

A couple from MPB - who owns that? ;)
Need more diversity in the collection, even if politically incorrect:

who's 'quibbling'
I really want to know why they are 'rare'
what was the print run, where were they distributed.
how were they acquired by the average guy?
-
by the way Mel, he's sold them 4 times as a set of 3
though I 100% disagree with the designation "special poster'
they are one sheets, period.
-
define rare for me on these posters Mel
Actually rare posters should have an internal Temperature 120 to 130 degrees F; warm through the middle, lightly charred on the outside, browned around the sides and bright red in the middle. They should also be soft to the touch.
