Title: BEST OF ...POLITICS IN FILMS
Post by: Mirosae on November 08, 2015, 04:39:54 PM
Hello, I wonder if I could have your advice on what other films are out there about politics that are worth watching, including documentaries. Below is my list. I really enjoy films like Tinker Taylor or Thirteen days. Fog of War is so good that..well...it really hurts.

I am after films where you can feel the politics behind it, not war films though I appreciate that these are related. Any other suggestions? Thank you!!

Thirteen Days

JFK

Fog of War

Charlie Wilson's War

Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy

NO- Chilean film

All the President MAN

The Remains of the Day

The Candidate

The Queen

I think under best 'political films' you have to include

the Great Dictator

Mr Smith Goes to Washington

Fail Safe + Dr Strangelove.. same source material approached from different artistic angles

Z

Syriana

One can't fail to mention Advise and Consent.

Also Hidden Agenda.  It may be more of a mystery/thriller but is also very political (and a good movie!).

Don't forget Italian directors, they made a few of the classics: Salvatore Giuliano, Battle of algiers, Matteo Affair

I really hope so, I don't do politics, but if the Marx bros were involved, count me in..

Passport to Pimlico

With the wonderful  Margaret Rutherford. What a feast. Politicians should watch this one and learn something.

I recommend people watch the 2008 film Frost Nixon.  The acting is fantastic, and it made an otherwise dull topic enjoyable.
