As soon as I added that Drive poster, I knew I should've included the No Country for Old Men one sheet, since they use the same tagline.  To give NCFOM credit, they surely invented the saying, many decades ago, and then decided to use it in their advertising campaign.  It's a reverse time travel dealio.  :P

Of course not, but they did win best picture.  It was kind of a bid deal.  If your business is marketing movies and that is the best you can come up with only 4 years later, you are idiots at best, hacks at worst.

There may have been other reasons for them using that line, but I can see why you would say that.   8)

A similar tagline appeared on this Traffic poster which predates No Country For Old Men by 7 years.

Now this is getting ridiculous.  As if I needed another reason to be upset with the lack of creativity in hollywoodland.  Thanks for posting Mark.

That Clerks 2 tagline is even worse than the movie.  Every person has power.  In my 5 second Google research, I saw this article that sums it up pretty well: http://untemplater.com/self-improvement/philosophy/with-no-power-comes-no-responsibility/ (http://untemplater.com/self-improvement/philosophy/with-no-power-comes-no-responsibility/)

I still think it is a funny one. Silly but funny, kind of fits the bill for the film (good article too BTW!)

I hear ya, Rosa.  Even in the wacky, silly context of the movie, to me it's still really bad.  I'm also biased since I saw Clerks when it was originally released and still think it's a classic, and the sequel does no justice to the original, IMO.

And I like this one, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is a rip off.  A Bond film title maybe?

This one is a classic.  IMO, one of the better modern taglines of all time.

I haven't seen a quarter of these flicks, but the best taglines for me have to be
"The end of Earth will not be the end of us" (Interstellar) and
"Live. Die. Repeat." (Edge of Tomorrow ...fave film of 2014 so far...I need to catch up)

That's a classic, Schan.

The Critters 3 (1991) one sheet above has the same tagline as Society (1989).

AIP was always the best.  I think it was Jim Nicholson that came up with most of the zingy stuff.

That Vanilla Ice poster is cool (as ice).  :P

I bought a dirtbike in 1995 from a guy who lived on the East Coast and raced with him around that time, and the bike's plastics were wild colors kinda like that.  Mr. Ice currently has a good TV show on the DIY Network called The Vanilla Ice Project, where each season his crew renovates a house to flip, and they do some cool work.  The homes are in Palm Beach, FL, where there are a lot of amazing properties.

Yep.

The memes and all from eMovie are classics.  I'm sure a lot of folks also miss all the times Bruce would share how his business works, not to mention all the great knowledge, stories, etc.

He's a regular on the Facebook, and he's not one of the "I'm too kewell to be your friend" people, so I'd recommend sending him a friend request, or following him there.  He actually just posted a neat story yesterday, about a large consignment of posters from the 1960s to 1980s, that eMovie will be selling soon.

I got a chuckle from it, also.  It's in the classic eMovie style, that is, a little wordy for a succinct tagline, but the message is clear.
