Arcade Games
« on: May 20, 2015, 06:57:38 PM »
Aside from Tron, what do folk here think are the best video game or arcade game themed movie posters?

Not much of a gamer myself, but I love some of the iconography associated with some of the old games. More nostalgia, I guess, much like my affection for Marvel related stuff. Was prompted to ask after seeing the posters produced for the forthcoming movie Pixels. Hope to shortly score one of the PacMan one sheets.

I'd love a galaga or gyruss poster if they exist.

I finally watched Krull the other night.  I wish they wouldn't have dubbed the Princesses voice.  It just threw me off right from the beginning.

I had the chance to play the hell out of Galaga yesterday before seeing Jurassic World...It sure would be nice to have the original poster next to your own Galaga Arcade machine.

Sweet, had it long what size is it?

Lucky, I haven't played it in years, I might save up for a machine though.

Re KRULL, I remember seeing it at the local cinema as a kid, the spfx blew my mind, haha

It is 24x36-ish, cant remember exactly.  But it is definitely not 1sh size.  I have had it for probably 3-4 years, also cant remember exactly.

I agree Charlie, the dubbing was bad.  The movie was awesome when I was 7, but did not hold up so well 25 years later.  But as far as 80s quest flix go, it really is a notch above most of them, and the glaive is still bad ass.

Nice paper, Schan.
I like this better than any of the American theatrical posters for Krull.
Is there an artist's credit on it anywhere?

No artist credit on the poster.  However, it is a direct transfer of the pinball back glass which was done by the late Keith Parkinson.  Interestingly, the pinball game was never actually produced.  There were supposedly 10 prototypes made, but it was decided to be too expensive to go large with it.  It was cool though.  It had a 3 level playing field.  The upper level was about a third the size of the main (middle) level, while the lower level was viewed through a transparent fresnel type magnifying lense build into the main level.  See pics at the link below:
