I have never seen Akira (not much into animes), but I like that poster, Ed (even though I don't know what it is).  The red really pops.  Nice.

Re: the wood vs. metal file cabinet debate, one of most important things is that the paint is non off-gassing.  Most average to high end metal file cabinets have that type of paint or powder coating, and of course if it's wood and not painted, that's not an issue.

Mike, that file cabinet is a beast.  With ten drawers that are 40"x52", and fairly thick wood, how much does that weigh, overall?  Do you know much about how old it is, the manufacturer, etc.?

Yeah i had the chance to get the bus shelter sized ones for Mad Max too but to be honest they don't do anything for me.

Heard the films pretty good though.

The back of the poster has a fair (a lot) amount of tape on the back holding it together. Is it normal for these posters? This is the oldest one I have in the collection..

Those old Italians are tough.
Just looking at them makes them fall apart.

Hey, who uses cheaper paper, the Italians or the Mexicans?

Nice , Mike. Good score!  thumbsup.gif

What year is this from? The 1960s? (emovie sold a 4F, by the same artist, Morini, and with the same title font, that is also described as probably from the 1960s: http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/archiveitem/14302743.html  )

With the amount of tape on the back, do you think you will have it restored at some point? And what kind of tape is it? Paper? Or a clear, celo-type?

well the Mexicans I'm sure have worse paper as the ones I have are all brown (foxed) where the paper should look white or sorta white. I have plenty of Italians and most paper looks good

Re tape (looks like white tape - conservation?), well its not normal to have lots of tape on the back of italians but for those posters in poor condition yes it is - having tape on the back on all folds, on the edges and corners and everywhere else in between. It'll come off when getting the poster CPR'd or is that CSR'd (previously known as linenbacked)

Don't worry about the tape, writing in ink on the back is much worse (unless the tape is starting to discolor the paper)

Words and Music, 1929

Deco, Swedish, Eric Rohman - tatted around the edges but everything I look for in a poster

How did I miss this one?
Very sweet.

Add argentineans and you have the lousy trio...

Its that brown paper like tape on the back. Hasn't come through or discoloured it. I was going to restore it. But I had a discussion with Bruce. He had recommemded if I were to auction it off. To leave it as is. So as of now I am undecided. Otherwise, that was my main plan. To get it backed and restored.

I think its nothing more than your flash against the glossy paper or the clear plastic holder your Hunchback quad is in. The pics themselves look great, color wise and focus.  thumbup Ive had that same issue when trying to photograph newer posters, let alone detail shots..

It's all about the cam angle.  :D

Yep, no need for more magnesium just yet. You've enough.
