Damn I look good!  I need to stand next to you more often!

I KNOW!  You kinda turn me on, there.  BTW, I lost 10 pounds since this picture was taken.  Not trying to be vain, but it took me a while before I decided to post this picture of Fatso.

I also had bad packaging from 123-liquidation - for a seriously overgraded DS Shawshank Redemption - I had to throw it away.

Mark

Weird, I was just looking at eBay and they have the poster back up for sale:

http://cgi.ebay.com/SHAWSHANK-REDEMPTION-27X40-ADV-1SH-MOVIE-POSTER-ROLLED_W0QQitemZ320483775969QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item4a9e5255e1

I wonder if it's even real. Good to know they don't package well and over grade. I won't be buying.

Weren't these rolled Style C Woodstock posters already identified as fakes?

http://cgi.ebay.com/1970-WOODSTOCK-27X41-1SH-MOVIE-POSTER-ROLLED-MINT-LOOK_W0QQitemZ320478700976QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item4a9e04e5b0

Dave, he mentions that you have authenticated them... is that correct?  I've never even heard of this style, then all of a sudden about a 6 months ago I've been seeing them everywhere.  Bruce had a post over at MPF stating they were fakes.

What gives on this poster?  Could a projectionist really have horded *that* many rolled copies for all these years?  I swear I've personally talked to people who have had 2-3 dozen of these... not to mention what sort of stock Dave and 123 might have bought up.  Any info would be appreciated.

I can't wait!  Egbert is a little bit of a God to me.  His presence amongst us would be a blessing.  Can anyone contact him?

I'll try, he emails me his sales lists, despite the fact I have never bought a single poster from him. I like to read his posts, natural comedian, just he doesn't know it.

Yeah, well, at least I don't wear my robe in public.  I have more style in my pinkie than you do in your entire shiny bald head.  Wonder what's going on under that robe?  Is that what you wear when you go to trial?  No wonder you can't win a case.  You look pathetic.

re: woodstock.

no, they were not "identified" to be fakes.

Bruce isn't sure what they are, so he won't sell them. I respect that.

I'm certain they are real......as are several other dealers......(the ones who have actually handled them.)

we went over all this on mopo....please check the archives if you'd like.

I only have one, its on consignment.

and you wouldn't believe some of the hoards that still turn up in this hobby! the phone calls we get sometimes are unreal!

Fair enough.  And thanks for the clarification for those who don't regularly read MoPo (not that I could even begin to figure out how to look up old topics on that site!).

I guess I should have picked up a few of these when I had the chance... I was originally offered them at $35 a pop!

Just to clarify the clarification:

I was sent one of those Woodstocks, and while Dave is entitled to his opinion, I have handled tens of thousands 1960s and 1970s posters, and I think this poster was printed far later.

You know few people who make a fake are going to tell anyone they sell them to that they just printed them! They will surely come up with one of those warehouse find stories that run rampant through out hobby.

Show me anyone anywhere who ever saw one of these prior to this find. Did they send the entire print run to this "projectionist"?  Huh?

Hi Bruce-
Did you see the reference picture of the old folded one in the auction I listed above?  That one definitely looks old, and to be of a style that I previously have never seen.  However, even though you can't make it out it exactly, it does look like the 'style' text in the lower right might be different than these rolled copies.

Have you ever seen that reference poster before?

Nope. The one I saw was one of a group one of my consignors bought, and a few days later another consignor bought a different bunch of them. The quantity available seems huge. I told both those guys that if it were me I would try to get my money back.

Perhaps the reference copy is a "real" one that repros were made from?

"Perhaps the reference copy is a "real" one that repros were made from?"

highly unlikely imo.

I bet they changed it to "mess with the minds" of people like Dave who would then KNOW it was original!

Personally, I don't think it is "original" OR repro. I think it was used for some kind of 1990s showing, or as a 1990s commercial poster. The paper and printing SCREAMS out 1990s to me!

and I just noticed last week.......identical paper and printing to the one sheet we just got in for "a boy named charlie brown" from 1969.

Hate to do this cause ya all gonna hate me. Shoulda done it sooner but again I didnt want ya all to hate me but this strange Greg guy was good by me. Sure he wasnt the fastest shipper but he shipped what he showed and when the trash at the post office messed up my posters he replaced them.

I can only go by my experience and it was not bad. Not bad at all.  Cool
