« on: April 12, 2015, 02:23:52 AM »
I am new to the forum so thought I would start off by uploading my collection.

I also have a few of these for sale... enjoy... :)

These last two are brochures, although both were made
as posters as well.

Thankyou Jeff and CSM for your kind words....

I hope you enjoy looking at these pieces of history as much as I do.

I have another 5 or so in the pipeline that I am looking to acquire soon,
amongst them happens to be my HOLY GRAIL poster... thumbsup.gif

PS... Apologies as I just realised I had posted these in the Movie Poster
area of the forum, so please feel free to relocate the thread to the appropriate
area if required...  thumbup

;D The only thing I had close at hand at the time... As I usually use books or coasters.

The rounds are inert / not live and cannot be fired, just in case you were wondering...  gun1

Yes, this is a recruitment poster for the Waffen SS, saying that you can join up on your 17th birthday.

This is one of the iconic propaganda / recruitment posters of the war by the well known artist, Hans Schweitzer.
He always signed his works as 'Mjölnir', which also happens to be the name of Thor's hammer...

They are quite rare and usually are found with different recruitment office addresses along the bottom.

This is quite something. Do you know what this is? A recruitment poster ?

Thankyou... thumbup

The Holy Grail poster I would prefer to keep secret for the time being until such time as I have
it in hand as I do not want to jinx anything... I have yet to pay for it along with some others
I have lined up to add to the collection.  thumbsup.gif

Thank you, very interesting  :)  I have always been a bit obsessed with WW2, but more on the reading side rather than collecting. The history is a bit too heavy for me, I still find these images very scary..  :P  but I can certainly appreciate your posters, they are  really quite something. Congrats  thumbsup.gif

Hi Christian.  I love the posters - do you have a hard time importing/exporting/selling them because of the swastika images, etc?  I know there are national regulations against that sort of thing in some countries, not sure how extensive and how the implementation is done though.

Thanks a lot for sharing that image. You might have changed my mind about collecting these posters. As unsettling and upsetting they might be for me, I see why it would be important to preserve them. It is our history after all. Good for you for putting these images and posters together.

Thanks again

R

Thankyou.. thumbup

Not really a hard time in importing them here in Australia as we have not banned any of the National Socialist imagery.

Although I did return a poster to a dealer in Germany that turned out to be a reproduction and that was held up over
there in customs for 5 - 6 weeks... eyeroll  They have some big name militaria dealers over there that can easily sell
the stuff, although bringing it back into Germany is problematic.......for obvious reasons.

That is precisely why I do it....For the love of history and wanting to preserve as many of these as possible.

Since I was young I had always been fascinated by the propaganda poster artworks, although I had not idea
I would one day own an original, let alone the amount I have acquired...

This one is the biggest I have in terms of Propaganda Posters (I have several large film posters also)...

It measures in at 154cm x 119.5cm.........A real wall filler!!!! and the colours just pop! I love it...

It was also one of, if not the cheapest poster I have acquired. Not many competitors at the auction thankfully. :)

I just saw this thread for the first time now... as I was browsing your collection above this is the one that really jumped out at me.  I was pleased to see you call it out below.  It's arresting for sure -- I can only imagine more so in person.

I have a few WWII propaganda posters, anti-US/capitalism and anti-Bolshevic posters.  I'll see if I can dig some up...
