Hi Monster,
Sharon Tate was so beautiful. She was art in human form.
The Valley of the Dolls poster is so weird with the guy looking like he is trying to breathe into Sharon's doll trachea.

Happy hunting, Okie

Ha!!  As SOON as I heard that it won tonight, YOU were the first person I thought of! REALLY! Cheers!

You know, I was thinking as I was going through your last couple batches of posters of how amazing it is that you can find so many posters of movies I have never heard of.  So you might have not heard of Everything Everywhere All at Once, but man, you have a knack for finding obscure stuff (at least to me) and It's so unique and fun to see.  Keep 'em coming!

You only collect posters of films you've seen. I think that's the issue. You like classy stuff. I prefer oddball horror and trash.  And there you are. However, it is good to know that you at least enjoy an occasional stroll through the grindhouse gutters with my posters. I hope you'll enjoy the next one. (It has a ways to go. I only have 6 new acquisitions at the moment and need at least 4 more before I post.) It is shaping up to be a fairly decent stroll through B-movie wonderland. Fingers crossed i don't end up buying a bunch of crap before its ready. CHEERS!

Welcome back! You are just in time for the next edition of THE SHOCK-O-RAMA POSTER SHOW! As you start to scroll through, you may be thinking "Blah! This is crap." True. True. I do buy crap sometimes (i.e. often), but I also buy a few jewels now and again. Just be patient and keep scrolling, scrolling, scrolling. As usual, I keep the best stuff for last.
But, what am I blabbering on? Let's get started!
Roll 'em:

BORA BORA: This is a nothing poster, really. I picked it up inexpensively to potentially use in my future home tiki bar (which is actually happening. The electrician arrived on May 3. The handyman who'll hopefully do the build out will be here on the 12th. Whoo hoo! And yes, it is all being done on the super cheap. Fingers crossed the crap I've saved for years will finally come together as I've planned!). Now that I have the poster, I think I already have MORE than enough beach/jungle/Polynesean/island/ etc. posters for the space, the stairs leading down to it and the space just outside of it. Oh well. As I said, this was inexpensive.

NEFARIOUS: I had no idea what movie this poster is advertising was about when I picked it up. NEFARIOUS? It sounded like it was something by (or ripping off) the makers of films like INSIDEOUS, SINISTER, MALIGNANT or any of those other similarly ominous-sounding one-word horror titles. But I guess this came and went (bypassing my tiny, island theater) without much fanfare. Oh well... I still haven't seen it and have no idea what it is about.

BOMBA ON PANTHER ISLAND: While not in the best condition, I am ever so delighted to have scored another Bomba poster. Who? Bomba the Jungle Boy was a teenage Tarzan-like character. The films were based ona series of 20 novels that started publication in the mid-1920s. There are 12 Bomba movies, all of which were cranked out between 1949 and 1956. Johnny Sheffield played Bomba in the series. Sheffield famously played Boy in the later Weissmueller TARZAN films, until he aged out of the part and "went off to school" never to be seen again. Lucky for him that some filmmakers decided to cash in on the TARZAN craze and cast the TARZAN star in the series. This poster is for the second film in the series. I have a few others.

SCREAM 6: Normally I don't bother with sequel posters. Sure, there are some film series that I'll buy a poster for every film in the series. Mostly though, I just avoid the sequel one sheets. SCREAM has always fallen into that category of ignoring the sequel one sheets. Don't get me wrong. I love the SCREAM films. They are (usually) pretty clever and inventive. While I have the poster for the first SCREAM (which I finally scored YEARS later), I didn't bother with the sequels...until SCREAM 5 (aka just SCREAM from 2022). I really liked its advance one sheet and snagged one. I thought I also got the final release one sheet showing the cast as I really liked that one, too. But, going through my previous posts, I don't see it. I guess I didn't get one?  While SCREAM 6 was kind of disappointing, the dinal poster was similar to the final poster for SCREAM 5. So, why not? (Although I also really liked the advance one sheet with Ghost Face looking through a subway window...) Maybe I should have just followed my general rule of skipping sequel posters...

THE POPE'S EXORCIST: Oooo how I wanted to see this. Of course, it didn't play here. By the time I learned it had been released, it was pretty much played out already (and had pretty much bombed).  I could have traveled off island to see it, but that would have been an hour+ drive each way and the drive back would have been in the dark. No thanks. I'll catch it on disc or streaming possibly. Not the best poster--but my kind o' movie. (Hopefully.)

THE BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMMAGE: Finally! Although the poster is rather bland, I am glad to have ultimately scored one. This film put Dario Argento on the horror map. Although he'd written other things in the years previous, this Italian giallo film was his first directorial effort. The poster isn't perfect, but I am happy with it. But it does make pause and say how crazy the poster market has become. Jeepers. This poster (in this condition) has been going for more than I would have expected it to for the longest time. I finally just bit the bullet and got this one. But other posters I've been after for decades have just gotten crazy expensive. Things I could have gotten for under $100 10 or 15 years ago or so were up to over $1,000 just a few years ago...and are now going for multiple thousands. What the heck!?! When I was a kid, posters were cheap. I just wish I'd better taste back then. I still kick myself occasionally over the stuff I passed up for $5-$25 bucks for the shlock crap did get (which is still worth next to nothing). Oh well.

BLACK DEMON: Ooooo, yet ANOTHER JAWS ripoff...and trying to take a bite out of the pre-release buzz of MEG 2. Of course it did NOT play anywhere near me. I don't think it got that wide of a release, actually. So--good, bad, or god-awful, I am thrilled to score the one sheet. Now to track down the flick...

OLGA'S GIRLS: Snap on your chastity belt... Although this poster has issues, it is super rare. By acquiring this poster, I believe I have one sheets for all five of the notorious OLGA roughies. (The possible exception may be OLGA'S DANCE HALL GIRLS--which many see as the worst of the series, but it's my favorite. Ha! I don't see that poster listed  among my posts, but I am almost sure I have a copy...)

THE MAD GHOUL: Whoo hoo! I am very thrilled to have scored this 1943 Universal horror one sheet. It's one of the lesser horror titles, obviously. I've never seen it--but zowie! LOOK at that cool poster. And what a cast! Turhan (THE SPIRITUALIST aka THE AMAZING MR. X) Bey, Evelyn (THE WOLF MAN, GHOST OF FRANKENSTEIN, SON OF DRACULA, etc.) Ankers, George (THE MUMMY'S HAND, THE MUMMY'S TOMB, HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN, etc.) Zucco, Robert (KING KONG, SON OF KONG) Armstrong, and Milburn (Doc on the GUNSMOKE TV series) Stone.

MONSTER ON THE CAMPUS: Oh my stars! I canNOT believe I got this beauty. It's always swell to pick up another Reynold Brown one sheet anyway. But... WOW!! I am absolutely dee-lighted! Yes, it's kind of a simple design, but I have been after one forever! A just on the verge of hitting it big Troy Donahue co-stars along with The Beast. EEEK! Fun late 50s schlock-o-rama and super poster-a-go-go!

Okay, that's 10. It's not the greatest post ever, but is a step up from some of the more recent ones. It also has some really good (I think, anyway) additions. (And, yes. There is some crap I could have done without, but...)

Thanks for visiting. Keep an eye out. Hopefully I'll have another post somewhere down the line.

I really love "Monster on the Campus" poster !
I hope to find one in very fine ++ condition  folded one day.

For the design, Reynold Brown has largely copied his "Tarantula" design. Two panicked characters running and an identical background.
The student guy just got older between the two movies (and his wife, like lovely Joan Bennett, changed her hair color) ;-)

The Mad Ghoul poster is impresive too.

s busy as RB was, I'm not surprised he didn't copy himself more!
Yes, I'd love a folded copy in great condition. I have always hated things on linen. However, I have come to the realization (for myself) that I'll take it however I can get it these days. If another comes along in the condition I want, so be it. But when one presents itself--take it, linen or not, and enjoy it while you can. Life is freakin' short.
THANK YOU for visiting.

CRAZY VICK!!!! How exciting to see you! Yes, once it is done (or at least pretty far along in the process of being done), if I remember, I'll share a link when I post again in a few months. Whoo hoo! I'm excited. I've wanted a home tiki bar for decades. The closet tiki bar to me now is 1 1/2 hours away! I truly am a tiki nut. Hi Monster,

For a minute there, I wasn't sure what Roy Scheider was swinging at us.

Nice going on The Mad Ghoul and Monster on Campus!  Can you imagine The Mad Ghoul/Son of Dracula double feature back then?  Good ole drive-in madness!

Those shameful, shameful chastity belts! What greater shame than chastity.  Wait a minute, maybe Olga isn't so bad.

The Bird with the Crystal Plumage!  Dang, that has a spy novel ring to it.  I like the little Alfred Hitchcock faced bird with the sans skin Terminator fingers for feathers.

One more thing: Ursula with a scuba knife! Way better than finding sea glass.

And we're back... So soon? Well... Yes. I was naughty and bought a pair of poster lots again. No, I'm not going to post every single poster in the lots I bought. Many I already have. Many I could have done without. One batch (folded) was an OOPS. I thought I was bidding on a different lot. Ha! Dumb me. There really wasn't anything in it I was after. The other lot (rolled) only contained 2 items I wanted. Isn't that usually the case? But  I did find an item or two I didn't have and was mildly curious about. There were also some non-lot purchases as well this time.  But...I'm yammering. Let's just take a look, shall we?

B.C. ROCK: This is one of those "mildly curious" posters that happened to be in the rolled lot. This looks vaguely familiar but I never saw it. It seems to be some animated flick with a lot of music...and is R-rated.  Hmm.  What caught my eye was the caveman who seemed to be hanging on to this rather phallic-looking rock. WHAT? On closer inspection I spied the tiny leaf (Not even a fig leaf) and I laughed. End of story.

THE ATOMIC CAFE: This one was also "mildly interesting." I've seen this poster a time or two. I've never seen the film, but when I have stumbled on this poster, I found the graphics interesting. It did its job and made me curious about the flick. (Although I haven't bothered to travck it down.) When I did see this poster in the past, it was always priced more than I wanted to pay for it. Now I have one...and probably paid more for the lot (of mostly unwanted posters) than buying one of those other copies would have been. Whatever...

BLACK TRASH: I do like my vintage blaxploitation films of the early 70s (especially the horror ones). I'd seen posters for BLACK TRASH several times. I had never really heard of the flick though. As one of the "mildly interesting" posters in the lot I was intially thrilled to ad the poster for an obscure blaxploitation flick. Then I looked it up. This isn't the true blaxploition flick it is trying to lead you to believe it is. It was filmed entirely in South Africa by South Africans and was originally called DEATH OF A SNOWMAN. There's no SUPER FLY. There's no SHAFT. There's no Pam Grier. There's no BLACULA. What the heck? Why bother? This flick was also released as SOUL PATROL--a title I'd also seen posters for. Eh...  This is a curiousity, but that's about it. I have no interest in seeing it. Oh well.

BRIMSTONE & TREACLE: Another "mildly interesting" lot item was the poster for BRIMSTONE & TREACLE. I do remember when this came out in the '80s. I was curious about it--but it didn't really make much of an impact (at least in this country), despite starring Sting--the lead singer of The Police who were super popular in the 80s. If it came to my town, it didn't last long. I never saw it. Is it worth tracking down? Apparently there is a song by The Police in the movie. Does Sting SING in the movie? That would be odd as, by the looks of the poster, the film seems to be going for a sinister feel. Hmm.

HAUNTED MANSION (2023)(Advance): I HOPE this will be good--or, at least, an improvement over the Eddie Murphy disaster. The poster isn't all that fab. It's appeal was the subject matter (Who doesn't love the Haunted Mansion?) and price--just $14.95 (and that included shipping). I'm a sucker. SOLD!

[imghttps://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8wMnV33cTVkb4h_WKg-b0o-lqX7qmnvPWeR5RrKgi68730cE3E57qew4teRfpmJbDdHBD3S6zQO4ppAOSXspwu5fkkkMDOA-HW-wkTOdhLWhRBVUkMJXfDaltjRvas_HJ3mX3OfyIhGeuUe0h8HRkax0NUap1R7rt72j61Lj7ux3XZBul5ODl9W93/w432-h640/HAUNTED%20MANSION%202023%20adv.jpg]http://[/img]

A BOY AND HIS DOG: I got one of these a while back after looking for years and years and years! And suddenly...SHAZZAM! Another popped up for sale super cheap. WHAT? No, I didn't need a second copy--but how could I NOT get it? By the way, the movie takes place far in the future...aka NEXT YEAR! I saw this movie several times as a kid. I remember liking it...but don't remember much about it. Perhaps I should track it down again...

C.H.U.D. II (video): I generally do NOT buy posters for sequels--especially straight-to-video sequels. But, as cheesy as it is, HOW did you really expect me to resist  this one featuring five monster men (aka C.H.U.D.s--Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers) with creep-o-fabulous glowing eyeballs? And they are crawling out of a sewer! How charming is that?

BLOOD SISTERS: This poster is one of the two I was after in the rolled lot. This is a crap-o-matic movie, with a whodunit non-surprise ending you can see coming 10 minutes into the movie. It came out in the slasher era...but this low-budgeter obviously couldn't afford the gore effects--so everything happens off camera. To keep you distracted, you get boobies! Boobies! Boobies! Ha. It's L-A-M-E. (Yes, even with boobies.)  Directed by oddball, Something Weird-director fave Roberta Findlay. This is one of those flicks where the poster is more interesting than the movie.

INSEMINOID: I might have one of these already. I searched my poster blog and all I saw was the boring alternate one sheet. Hmm. Just to be on the safe side, I snagged this little sci-fi, exploitation, ALIEN-ripoff, one-sheet messterpiece.

CHEERLEADER CAMP: I've never seen this--but this poster was the other poster in the lot I wanted. Actually, this was the main goal. (BLOOD SISTERS was more of a lucky bonus.) I thought this must have been a direct-to-video flick, but no. It had a theatrical release apparently. Also known as BLOODY POM POMS, I'm sure the movie must be crap. Betsy (AVENGING ANGEL and the SAW series) Russell?? Leif (DEVIL TIMES FIVE and brief 70s teen idol pop sensation) Garrett? I may need to track it down. And what a fun poster. It looks like SLEEPAWAY CAMP meets BRING IT ON.

SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE: I do NOT understand the popularity of the SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE movies, but they have their sleazy, cheesy charm. I have the third film's one sheet and a video poster for Part 2 (which is my favorite of the three--and so odd). (I really need to find the one sheet for 2), but Part 1 has eluded me...and the prices for it keep going up and up and up. Sooooo, well, I bit the bullet and snagged one. I haven't seen the direct-to-video remake. Is it worth a watch?

VALLEY OF THE DOLLS (British Quad): Oh my STARS!!!!! A while back I posted a recent poster aquisition update. I had gotten a VALLEY OF THE DOLLS one sheet, which I hoped was an upgrade for the one I already had. I said it was one of my all-time favorite (bad) movies. I later got a private message from marklawd. He simply said:  "So VALLEY OF THE DOLLS is one of your favorite all-time movies? Let me know your postal address so I can send you something you'll like!" Okay. I sent him my address. I thought perhaps he'd send some clippings about the film or a photo still---something like that. And then I kind of forgot about it. A couple of weeks later there was a parcel from England. Hmm. I had no idea who'd sent it. I opened it and ...there it was -- instant turn-on, instant love, instant excitement, ultimate hell! It was a VALLEY OF THE DOLLS British quad. (Insert the sound of my jaw dropping to the floor here.) OH MY GOSH! Talk about surprise-a-ramas! I was/am so delightfully shocked! ZOWIE WOWIE!!!! How utterly kind. How utterly unexpected. WOW!!!! I am so so sooooooo MOVED by that. THANK YOU Mark Lawd. Wow! Wow!! WOW!!!

And that is it for this time. Thank you for stopping by. And Mark Lawd, and extra big super-sized thank you for you super-sized surprise!
Okay, you can wake up now. You see? It was all a bad dream...or was it?

Hi Monster,
I believe you and I were bidding on the same lot in your last post. I wanted it mostly for Cheerleader Camp and have since forgotten what the rest of the lot was. I'm glad they went to a good home. I was considering bidding more but decided to just let it go and I am happy with where they ended up! :)
Cheerleader Camp is an awesome slasher with the very talented Betsy Russell and Lucinda Dickey in the leading roles. It's like a dream movie for me because it's not only a slasher but one with my two favorite 80s actresses! Highly recommended. Rumors going around that it will soon see a bluray release but otherwise I'm sure you could find a decent DVD copy of the film or stream it somewhere online!
(I do own a poster already, but it is folded and I thought I could try for a rolled copy! Actually at one point I had TWO folded copies!)

I've been meaning to comment on your posters but have been busy. Hopefully will find some time soon to go through your posts and share my thoughts on your amazing finds!

Hi there! EMovie seems to have had a CHEERLEADER CAMP one sheet in the lots for the last few months. The ones that just closed had one. The lots before that had one as well, I am fairly certain. Mine were from the ones that ended in May, I think. I am sorry if I outbid you. Had a I known…
I actually DID see the movie. I bought the DVD on eBay and gave it a watch Monday night. A Blu-ray??? Hmm. I’ll consider buying it. It was a  typically 80s slasher, but still kind of fun. The extras on the disc were woefully lacking.
Good luck on your poster quest. Thank you for visiting.
Cheers!

It was definitely the same auction we were in, and I'm glad they went to you since I know they found a good home! thumbsup.gif
I'm perfectly happy with my folded one sheets that have seen some love over the years but I thought, hey, why not try my hand a a more mint copy?  ;D
They have been popping up every once in a while so maybe someday!

I also just saw the "Slumber Party Massacre" poster on your last post as well. That's a great purchase! I remember my motivation for seeking one down (and part of getting into this hobby in the first place) was seeing one hanging on a wall in a scene from "Chopping Mall" and thinking, "I want one of those!".
I own a folded copy myself as well as a rolled video release version!
Seeing you mention that the second one is your favorite of the three reminds me that I also recently got a standee/display for the second film. It's my favorite of the three as well, with the third following closely behind. I haven't seen the remake myself but I'll get to it soon!
There's also a reboot on the way for the similar franchise "Sorority House Massacre".
