T: I totally get it. I don't do that, exactly. i buy posters from movies I've seen and like---but also from those I haven't seen, but dig the poster. And, if I buy the poster for a film i haven't seen, i usually try to track it down and see it---which is exactly what the posters are designed to do...make you see the film.
Your collection is unparalleled---so obviously the amount of films you've seen is quite extensive. CHEERS!

Hi Monster!

I was pleasantly surprised to see you have a jacket that Sebastian Cabot wore on screen.  Man, those memories of Family Affair and good ole Mr. French take me back. Have you tried the jacket on? How's the fit?  Okie

Hi Okie!
I was pleasantly surprised to see YOU here! How are you? The jacket isn't from FAMILY AFFAIR, but from CIRCLE OF FEAR/GHOST STORY. But it was worn by Sebastian Cabot---and he will forever be remembered best as Mr. French, so it is almost as if it were from FAMILY AFFAIR. Have I tried it on? No. I bought but do not actually have it yet. It's being safely held by the good people at eMovieposter... BUT--I should have it sent my way. I can't afford anything. I don't know what I am expecting to add to it for shipping.
A pleasure to see you, good sir!

Welcome back to the Shock-O-Rama Poster Show. This edition is filled with disappointment and frustration--for you the viewer (Nothing much to see here) and, especially, for me--the buyer. Eh... let's just get on with it and get this post over with already...

SURVIVAL RUN:
Well, I did it…AGAIN! I stupidly visited a certain poster auction house that has crazy high fees, bid on a bunch of stuff (some things I really wanted, something’s I already had and/or didn’t really need), lost out on everything I really wanted (Waaaagh!) and got stuck holding the bag for a crazy sum of money for basically crap. Argh! Will I EVER learn?? So, here I am, stuck with more expensive paper I really don’t have a lot of use for… This one (and the one below it) I got for $1 (plus about $30 in fees….and all of the shipping and handling expenses. EEEk!). It appears to be (but I’m not entirely sure) a post-apocalyptic thriller, perhaps. I had never heard of SURVIVAL ZONE before. Whoopie…

THE ANNIHILATORS:
Something else I did NOT need. Or maybe I did? I just now looked this flick up as I was starting to write about the poster. Oh my stars! This sounds like a bad movie (about a returning Vietnam vet, who comes home to find the streets of his neighborhood like a war zone. He recruits some of his Vietnam vet buddies to help and it truly becomes war in the streets) I was told to seek out…but never did. Hmm. Maybe this was a lucky purchase after all? (I’m NOT holding my breath…)

THE MANIAC:
Another idiotic encounter with a certain auction house... This is a poster for the old Hammer non-period, non-gothic horror flick about a murderer, starring THE SEVENTH VOYAGE OF SINBAD’s Kerwin Matthews. It has been eclipsed and forgotten more or less in favor of Hammer’s more popular Dracula, Frankenstein, and Mummy flicks. I already had a copy of this. Perhaps I can resell it down the line to help recoup some of the $88 (total--after buyer's premium, shipping, etc.) I spent on the two lots I did win. But oh...the quality of this poster. Very good minus? Uh...more like minus, minus, minus! Blah.

THE BROTHERHOOD OF SATAN:
I already have a copy of this as well. (And somewhere I have a packet of “Satan Seeds”, given out to promote this movie…) As I recall, this wasn’t a bad movie. It features Strother Martin and L.Q. Jones star along with a very young Geri (“Fake Jan” from the BRADY BUNCH VARIETY HOUR) Reischl in the child lead.

HOT SKIN:
I already had one of these. WHY get another? UGH! I’m a sucker for gimmicks, especially 3D…(and this is apparently in 3D AND “SeXurrounD”…whatever that might be. A knock-off of “Sensurround”, no doubt.) Vintage porn stars Serena, John Holmes, and the “Disco Dolls” (!?!) star! Ha!

KINGDOM OF THE SPIDERS:
After YEARS of trying to score a copy of this, I got one a month or so back. Whoo hoo! And then, BOOM! This one shows up fairly cheap. Snag. What weird luck. I still dig the poster and am super happy to have one (now two)!!

PINK FLAMINGOS (Pink Phlegm-Ingo Barf Bag):
When I saw this item up for sale, I slapped down on the Buy It Now button and was super happy. I NEVER thought I’d score one of these. And then I paused… The bag certainly looks like it could be from the early 70s, but as I researched it (after my hasty, must-have-it-before-anyone-else snags-it purchase), I saw that (as far as I could tell) all of those bags were printed in pink lettering—not black. I also learned that Criterion, when it re-released PINK FLAMINGOS on Blu-ray, included a reprint of the bag (also in pink ink). So WHERE did my black-printed bag come from? Is it real or a cheap copy?Perhaps the ink faded due to light or some other type of damage? Dang it all! I hope I wasn’t ripped off (AGAIN). (I’m sure I was though… GRR!) But...it really DOES look old. Hmm.

EVIL DEAD RISE (Advance):
A new EVIL DEAD movie that is an actual sequel (and not a remake) to the originals? Yes, please! I have the posters for the other films (even the remake), so I needed this as well. And...I'll need to get another copy as the cheapo tube this was shipped in was broken, so there are now these odd tracks/wrinkles down one side of the poster. ARGH!!!!!! Dammit all!

SLAUGHTER HIGH (video poster):
I feel super lucky to have scored this one (although it was also damaged in shipping. GRRRRR!). Yes, this is a video release poster for this title. However, it is way better than the theatrical release poster (a silly skeleton bursting through a bright yellow background. Snore.)--which I actually might already have as well. I have the vaguest memory of this movie (from the VHS days). Doesn't it take place at a class reunion of sorts (with only a handful of students showing up) only to be picked off one by one by a slasher? (Not to be confused with THE REDEEMER aka CLASS REUNION MASSACRE.)

RENFIELD (Advance):
I'm not sure if I will see this movie or not. It looks like a comedic take on FRACULA but told through Renfield's perspective. While that could be fun, seeing Nicholas Cage portray Dracula has me the most interested. I have a feeling it will...suck. The poster was cheap. Depending on how the film is received, it will either go up in value or get cheaper. (I'm guessing the prices will drop as I already bought one. Whoopie. That would be par for the course.

And that's it--stuff I didn't need, poor quality stuff, possibly something bootlegged, and stuff damaged in the mails. Disappointment and frustration. I also got new that my poster blog has been CENSORED and deemed inapptptiate on one page. I don't get it/. Sure there are some posters for adult films--but NOTHINMG is shown. Ot maybe I'm missing something? That post is HERE. What did I do? Can you figure out what I am being punished for? I can't. Hmm... Anyway, we are done...and here is the show stopping finale to close the curtain with.

The show is mercifully over for today. Good night, and thank you for coming.

Golly, thanks for posting your note. Ugh...those bids...and the poster quality? You can't tell but the seams are split all over the place on THE MANIAC and BROTHERHOOD OF SATAN. Such shoddy quality. I hope I finally learned my lesson and STAY AWAY froma certain auction house... I am so over this post though...so filled with frustration and disappointment. Let's go on to the NEXT already. (I've already started it. Yippie!) Cheers!

Sorry you had such awful luck with the auctions. I think we've all been there so we know how you feel! Hopefully you are able to make some of that money back if you decide to resell The Maniac!

Nice find with Slaughter High! You've got the plot right - it had some pretty gruesome kills so it stuck with me after watching it. (Plus the awesome theme song by the composer who did the Friday The 13th music!)
I didn't even know there was a theatrical poster for it - but you're right about how awful it looks. I've been wanting one myself for a while but could never find one for a price I'm willing to pay. Maybe someday.

Hi Heather! Thanks for visiting the page and leaving a note. Good luck with your SLAUGHTER HIGH search. I know what you mean about prices for them. I, too, had been searching for many years for one. I stumbled on this one and got it for a decent price. Sometimes you just luck out. Eventually you will score one, I am sure. BUT--I want to thank you mostly for resurging an interest in seeing the flick again. Oooo I really do not remember much--and I obviously need a revisit based on what you said. THANK YOU!

Is there an APF prize each year for best production in a post? I nominate Monster!  Stan Lee gave out very coveted "No Prize(s)" in Marvel comics.  How about an APF Invisible Man Statue?  Okie

OKIE!!!  I have something for you---if I ever get off my butt and get it mailed. It may not be to your liking, but..well, you'll understand when/if I ever get it to you.
PS I remember the No Prize. Ha! Thank you for the "nomination". Cheers!

Dude, seriously?

With all due respect, you need to stop whatever you're doing right now and watch it.  Not only will it be nominated for an Academy Award for best picture, along with its directors, but it is a great flick.  Also, Ke Huy Quan, from the Goonies and Temple of Doom?  Best supporting actor this year.  Hands down.

Great posters, btw.  And watch the movie.

T

So?  Have you heard of this movie now?

If you survived my last god-awful post and came back for more (Glutton for punishment?), fear not. (Well...) While my (ultra l-o-w) budget does not allow me to buy anything stellar or "OMG-I've-wanted-that-for-so-long" incredible, but I got a few new things anyway. Some are eh...whatever, some are repeats, and some I am glad to have! Well...don't let me build up your hopes. (There are a fair number of turds here. Truly.) Get your ticket (They're CHEAP!), grab a chair, sit back and let's get this episode of the poster show going. Last chance to duck out...the lights are dimming. Here we go-go...

MAGIC MIKE'S LAST DANCE:
This was a free one from the box of giveaway posters at my local theater. I'll gladly take it, but... Snore. NEXT.

SCANNERS 2 - THE NEW ORDER (Video):
I don't remember exactly if the first sequel to SCANNERS ever got a theatrical release or not. I don't believe it did. I DO have the one sheet for the original film. I came across this--and it was cheap--and thought, why not? I saw the flick back in the VHS days, but don't remember much about it. It was my impression though that it was pretty much a carbon copy of the first flick. Was it? Hmm. The poster is dull -- but as a bonus, it lists the video releasing company, Media, which put out a lot of great stuff back in the day (like the original HALLOWEEN)! Cheap poster--cheap thrills.

SCANNERS-THE SHOWDOWN (Video):
I'm not sure exactly how many SCANNERS sequels and spin-offs there were, Is SCANNERS-THE SHOWDOWN part 3 or did it come further down the road? I know there was also SCANNER COP (1 & 2). I don't think I caught any of the SCANNERS sequels beyond Part 2, though. This poster was also a cheap-o. I thought why not? But LAME poster.

PHANTOM OF THE MALL--ERIC'S REVENGE (Video):
This is a video poster. I apparently never saw this. It was only after buying this (and looked up the title) that I realized this was not just another retitling of CHOPPING MALL (aka KILLBOTS) as I had somehow though. (I'd seen CHOPPING MALL decades ago on VHS--and have the theatrical one sheet.) They're completely different movies. (No wonder this was so cheap. Ha!)  The only thing they have in common is that thwy were both filmed at the same mall. I didn't remember a phantom-like guy in CHOPPING MALL, but then I don't remember CHOPPING MALL all that well (clearly). Oh well...

BRAIN DEAD (Video):
A movie starring Bill Pullman, Bill Paxton, Bud Cort, and George Kennedy--and produced by Julie (Mrs. Roger) Corman? How did I miss this curiousity? This is another video poster. Did this play theatrically?

BEVERLY HILLS BODY SNATCHERS (Video):
This was cheap--and I'd never heard of it. It's a video poster as well--but did it ever have a theatrical release? With this poster--and the two above it (all purchased at the same time)--I realized that I was buying posters--not because I "need" or particularly "like" them, but because I was looking for things to fill up a post. Sorry. (I really need to STOP doing crap like that. Some of the free ones from the theater are bad enough...)

THE WILD PARTY:
I came across this while "shopping." It was cheap and it features the recently deceased 60 sex symbol Raquel Welch. In honor of Raquel, I decided to buy it...only to discover I already had a copy. Oops! (And I've never even seen the movie. Ha!) A while back, I was trying to track down all of  the posters for all of her flicks. I have ONE MILLION YEARS B.C., FANTASTIC VOYAGE, FATHOM, and a few others. I'd really also love to score a MYRA BRECKINRIDGE and a KANSAS CITY BOMBER, but... She may have been in her 80s when she died, but it broke my heart to lose another legend.

OLD DRACULA:
Like THE WILD PARTY, I already have a copy of OLD DRACULA. Unlike WILD PARTY, I didn't buy it by mistake thinking I needed one. Hello? I have a copy hanging on my bedroom wall. No...I just really like the poster. It was cheap. Now I have a spare.  I saw this flick when I was a kid in the 70s. (It was on a double bill with FOOD OF THE GODS.) I liked it then, although it didn't seem to hold up (in my opinion) years later when I saw it again. Held up or not, I have always loved the poster (especially the skeleton wearing cat-eye glasses in the coffin). The attempt to make it seem like a sequel to YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN cheapens it a bit, but what the heck? It's fun.

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA:
Freebie boster from the theater. I'm not a superhero movie guy...so I never saw this--or the first one. But hey--I'll take the poster. It might be worth something someday...

VIOLENT NIGHT:
I got one of these awhile back. Why bother getting another (especially when I still have NOT seen it yet)? Because it was FREE at the theater. In fact, I picked up two copies! This is one of the many flicks my little small-town theater previewed, got posters for...and yet NEVER played. ARGH!!!!

PEARL (style A):
I lucked onto a free copy of the poster for X at my local theater. I was not as fortunate with the poster for the prequel, PEARL, which I had to buy. But I was thrilled to find one reasonably-ish priced. I do like how, on this A-style of the poster, they clue you in that this is part of the X series (the big X behind her and the "X-traordinary Origin Story" blurb). There's an ax and some blood splatters...what more do you need?

PEARL (Style B):
I came across this B-style (which I didn't know existed) while shopping. Ooooo I like it, too. The X poster and the PEARL posters have me really interested in the series---which I have NOT seen yet. (Shocker, huh?) I'm even looking forward to the next one, MAXXXINE, based on the positive word-of-mouth these two flicks have generated on their own. Whoo hoo!

And well...that's it. I hope you weren't too disappointed---or bored. I'll end this here--before it gets really bad. Courtesy ape-lause is even too much for this Poster Show.
I'll try harder next time.
Thanks for visiting.
Cheers!

Nice haul, Monster_A_GoGo. I didn't realise Scanners had sequels, I'm curious to watch now.

I haven't seen Pearl yet, but I enjoyed X - it's fun in a schlocky exploitation sort of way.

Monster, X and Pearl are quite different tonally (the former is a throwback to the grindhouse vibe of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Eaten Alive, while the latter has a Wizard of Oz vibrant Technicolor feel to it), but both are interesting and fun, so you should try to catch them if you can.  Mia Goth's performance in each of them is rather impressive.

TOB: Yes--there ARE direct-to-video SCANNERS sequels. As I said, i think I saw the first one--and think i was very underwhelmed. Good luck if you venture down that path. (Are they even available anywhere these days?) Thank you for visiting the thread. CHEERS!

ANTOINE1973: Hi there. I appreciate your input on the X/PEARL flicks. i have X---just haven't seen it yet. ARGH! How odd they sound so different--but that's a good thing. Why not mix it up instead of just rehashing things like most sequels/prequels do? Thank you for stopping by. Always a pleasure. Cheers!

Welcome back! (So soon?) It's time for another edition of the Shock-O-Rama Poster Show! There are 11 (instead of the usual 10) posters in this post. Why? Well, the bulk of this post came from a bulk lot. NO--I am NOT sharing every single poster in the lot. Some I had already. Others I have zero interest in. Most I am choosing to post have some sort of minor (VERY minor) interest to me. Since I am posting 9 posters (out of the 22 in the lot) and 2 others to share---it just seemed pointless to hold back on one.

Blah...blah...blah. Here we go:

VALLEY OF THE DOLLS:
I already have a copy of this poster, but it was one of the TWO posters I was after with this lot. VALLEY OF THE DOLLS is one of my favorite all-time movies---because it is so BAD! I love it! The copy I scored years ago isn't in the best condition (and cost nearly as much as this whole batch lot did). This one seemed to be an upgrade (hopefully)--and is the ONLY poster I've shared in the past on this post. I guess the younger crowd--the ones buying posters today--doesn't appreciate cinematic cheese from the 60s these days. Oh well. Their loss is my gain.

TEENAGE PONY GIRLS:
TEENAGE PONY GIRLS? Ha! What the hell?  Hilarious title (and bad art)--too funny. It is an unexpected little nugget in this bulk lot. I am guessing it's for a porn flick--but I think it's pretty laughable looking.

SPRING FEVER:
This isn't anything I would have sought out on its own--and I've never seen the flick. I DO remember the art though back in the VHS days. I was always curious about it. It always seemed to stare back at me from the video shelves. I always thought it must be a teen comedy along the lines of PORKY'S or SPRING BREAK (albeit rated PG). It was just a lucky addition to the lot. Nothing special.

GOIN' ALL THE WAY:
I included this poster because I remember when the movie came out. I was 15 or 16...and it was the kind of movie that made you really wish you had a car (I didn't get my first until I was about 17 1/2) and were old enough to get into R-rated movies. (Of course, I still somehow managed to get myself into plenty of R-rated horror movies before I was 17. Hmm...) At the same time, I recall the ads for this made the move seem like it was totally low budget and probably pretty crappy. Still... I'd have gone.

MALIBU HIGH:
Like GOIN' ALL THE WAY above, I also remember when this came out. It was 1979 and I was all of 14. Didn't ever see it. But, man... It played the drive in circuit where I lived for seemingly YEARS!

SEX AND THE OFFICE GIRL:
Never heard of this one--which looks like it was an X-er ("No one under 18 allowed"), but the artwork keeps catching my eye. I don't know if I like it --or if it is just really bad. Still, something about it makes me keep looking at it. Hmm. It also looks unfinished. The closer couple are more detailed. The ones further back look more like sketches just beginning to be filled out. Is that on purpose or did the artist just run out of time and release it that way to add a bit of an artistic touch to it? (Like the crowd going to see this would care about artistic touches on the posters. Ha!)

THE HOT BOX:
It wasn't until I was putting this post together that I realized I didn't already have a copy of this poster. WHAT!?! I looked it up on my blog... It's not there. Okay then, this bulk lot rectified that. THE HOT BOX is more wonderful early 70s women-in-prison, exploitation sleaze from Roger Corman's New World Pictures and director Jonathan Demme! (Yes--THAT Jonathan Demme!) How did I NOT have this already?

WOMEN IN CAGES:
Speaking of women in prison exploitation movies...how did I also NOT have the one sheet for 1971's WOMEN IN CAGES??? This is a total grindhouse shocker bonanza starring the legendary Pam Grier.

SWEET SUGAR:
And back to women in prison movies again--this (along with VALLEY OF THE DOLLS) is the other poster in the bulk lot that I really wanted. Yes, the poster is rather blah. But the movie...zowie! I watched this so often back in the VHS days. I LOVED it. Phyllis Davis ("Aunt Susan" in BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS) stars. Of course, I saw this in later years and it didn't quite hold up to what I remembered as a teen. Oh well... Isn't that always the way?

HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER (Video):
This is the only non-bulk lot poster in the batch! AND it is just a video poster. But--WOW! Finally something on this great--and very disturbing flick! (Siskel & Ebert gave it "Two thumbs up!") The original release poster artwork (all wild and crazed looking) is fantastic--and impossible to get a copy of. The re-release poster (also hard to find, but not as rare) uses the image below. I'll gladly take this VHS poster...until I can score one of the other two. This really was a good movie. (The sequel, though...should be avoided.)

A FACE IN THE FOG:
I had never heard of this movie before coming across it in one of eMovie's bulk lot auctions. While it is not the most exciting poster ever, the old style font really sold it to me. Granted, the poster has some issues. However, as a remnant of 1936, I can't expect it to be mint. This movie seems to have a lot of great genre elements in it, but is apparently a murder mystery at its core. From what I've since read about it, there is a killer hunchback (!) known as The Fiend who is running around and offing (with frozen bullets!?!) members of a theater group who are working on a play called "Satan's Bride." The rest of the synopsis sounds trite and cheesy -- typical 1930s low-budget melodrama. But I am thrilled with the poster. I spent way too much money (way, WAY too much for me) on this bulk lot--and it was all to get this ONE poster. (YES, this is from a separate bulk lot of 19 posters...and the ONLY one I am sharing.)

Oh! Before I sign off, I keep forgetting to share my daux movie poster envelopes that I've been making. I have shared some in the past, but have neglected continuing that practice.  I'll include the most recent five. Some of the posts have vintage ones I had done 30 years ago or so. Others have holiday-themed horror ones. Many include things people have sent me. Take a look or don't. But here's an example:

And that is it for this time. It wasn't the best post--but remember: of the 11 posters shared, I was only actively after 4 of them. The rest are just incidentals.

Next time will hopefully be better.

Thank you for visiting.

CHEERS!

Very nice!
My wife is very much into collage and postcrossing.   She has been doing collages for now over 10 years;  she did crossposting (sending custom enveloppes/postcards to stranger) but got somehow tired of it as quality of received postcard was somehow disappointing. She still does collages, she is very much into scrapbooking, that is filling a book with collage, paint, drawings and so many other artistic things. She keeps many things in her drawers, from candy wrapping papers to pieces of fabrics.

She showed me some custom enveloped las week and I actually mentioned you, saying you were doing great vintage horror envelopes.
We laughed because horror and halloween stuff is somehow forbidden in my theocratic country, we were wondering if such envelopes would come to us or be confiscated to be burned in a pit of lava behind the gates of hell :) :)   This said, if you are looking for a recipient that will cherish your envelope, I can send my address.  I know she would be very surprised and quite happy to receive such beautiful stuff.

Crucifixion? Good. Out of the door, line on the left, one cross each.
