Welcome and come forward. Don't be shy. It's time for the next edition of the SHOCK-O-RAMA POSTER SHOW.

THIERRY: I'm glad there were a few posters in my recent postings that you liked. it is no secret I like crap (such as you'll soon see below), but occasionally I buy stuff that others may enjoy as well. Thank you for visiting and the note.

Okay--here are the new posters:

SEXUAL EXPLOITS OF NAUGHTY PENNY / SEX WORLD (British Quad combo):

Why did I buy this? Sure, I had it in my eBay watch list because it was a double-feature poster I didn't have---but I wanted it primarily for SEX WORLD, the fake adult sequel to WESTWORLD and FUTURE WORLD. The other day at work, I tuned in to my emails on my phone and got an announcement that this was closing soon. I clicked on it, saw the current price, bid above it and forgot all about it---until I got home and found out I had won it. I had not really been paying attention when I bid on it--and found out I bid way too much, especially considering (DUH!) I already have the one sheet for SEX WORLD. UGH!. Oh well...

SOLO - A STAR WARS STORY (International? Indian?):

I am no STAR WARS fan, but usually pick up STAR WARS stuff if it is cheap enough for possible resale down the road. I hadn't seen this SOLO poster before. It is double-sided, measures 28x40. and from India (but the text is all in English). This may just be a general international poster that ended up in india? I don't know. I know the film was is considered a flop, despite it making more that $200 million here and nearly $400 million worldwide....but I'm hoping this will increase in value.

SANTO VS THE MARTIAN INVASION (Re-Release?):

I'm not quite sure what this is. The original listing said this was a "re-release". Did they re-release Mexican Santo movies...in Peru? That's where this is coming from, Peru. I asked the seller some questions before purchasing it. I wanted to make sure something wasn't being lost in translation. He said: "I am in Peru, posters were sent from Mexico to Peru for theatrical exhibition after its Premier. It is not from the original release, it is a re-released poster printed in Mexico for theaters in Peru and the paper is old, I do not think that it is a reproduction. But the original release poster has a better resolution. There is no date or seal on the back of the poster. I think that this poster is a re-release because the film was exhibited on 1974 in Peru." Original release or re-release, I was thrilled with it...and then I realized why it seemed so familiar to me. Ha! It's is a total ripoff of the poster for ROBINSON CRUSOE ON MARS. Too funny.

RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK (10th Anniversary re-release):

This is yet another story of bidding on things---forgetting about it--and discovering you actually won it later. Last week on Heritage, this was up with a couple of other things. I bid before going to work, knowing I'd be out bid....and forgot all about them. Until a week later when I had bid on an item or two on HA again during work. After work I checked to see if I won anything that day---NOPE! But I did discover this week old invoice for this. Oops! I didn't really need this--but I also didn't have one either.

HOUSE WITH A CLOCK IN ITS WALLS:

I know nothing about this. I think it is based on a popular kid's book, right? Looks kind of dorky, I think...but so did GOONIES back in the day...and look at the price for that poster now. I probably wasted my money--but thought why not?

BE KIND REWIND:

This movie was dated when it came out. VHS tapes were pretty much over when this hit theaters. So why buy it? In my home town, they have an annual "Swede Fest". The idea of "Sweding" a movie comes from this film. In the film, they needed a "Ghostbusters" tape---and didn't have one, so they remade it and rented it as the original. Then they remade other hits---all on a shoestring budget. That was "sweding".I thought I'd get the poster in honor of our festival. (More about the festival HERE).

INDEPENDENCE DAY (Style B Advance):

A long while back I decided to buy the INDEPENDENCE DAY posters...got one and that was it. Here is a second one (or do I have this one already?). $3. CHEAP!

SANTA CLAUS:

I already have a copy of this K. Gordon Murray kiddie matinee poster for the Mexican import movie. It was part of some obscure auction I came across online.(Yes---the photo below is really how they presented it in the auction.) I bid a few bucks ($8), for got about it and last night I found out I had "won" it. Whoopie...

TERROR IS A MAN:

I've gotten copies of this poster in the past. I don't know why I bothered again (poster addict). This is an obscure horror movie from 1959 that riffs heavily (and blatantly) from "THE ISLAND OF DR MOREAU". The attraction, as far as the poster goes, is the gimmick that is mentioned---the bell system for the squeamish and faint-hearted. The gimmick is only used once in the film---during a brief scene showing a real open-heart surgery (stock footage lifted from somewhere else).

SON OF SINBAD (3 sheet):

UGH--this was a MISTAKE to buy. What was I thinking? I am NO FAN of three sheets. (UGH! I hate the size---far too big, yet I have several.) Also, this was list as being in 9.4 condition. I didn't look too closely---but now that it is mine and too late, closer inspection reveals that there is no way this is a 9.4. Oh well. I do like Sinbad---and have posters from many of his incarnations (including those foreign offerings that were not Sinbad movies---but became so due to dubbing and retitling, such as Russian THE MAGIC VOYAGE OF SINBAD and Japanese THE LOST WORLD OF SINBAD). This 1955 Howard Hughes produced actioner features Dale Robertson in the title role along with Vincent Price and Lili St Cyr! It was presented in SUPERSCOPE (whatever that was---some wide screen process, no doubt).

And that's about it for this time. Thanks for visiting. See you next time. Now---time to grab some dinner...

Hey Monster!

"Hold on to your turbans!" Lili St. Cyr and Vincent Price together in one film: the stripteaser meets the tingler? What was this rated, Mr. Hughes?!

In that bottom middle panel, is Santa Claus serving up the Holy Chimichanga of Oaxaca?

British-quad-combo-double-feature: I think we know the kinky-rhymes-with-slinky reasons you bought this poster, Monster! Look at those quads! Even the lady way in the background says, "here's my booty!" Naughty little Monster...

Does Chewie's mane look better conditioned than usual? Tammy "Wookie" Wynette meets Colt 44 Lando!
Wait, Is Tammy W. too obscure a bee hive hairdoo reference?!

Santo and a ray gun! Lucha libre in the 25th Century! Duck dodge this you hairy Martian BEM.

With all that being said, can we all please just pause and appreciate all things Karen Allen? Yes, now even just a little bit of Karen makes everything better.

Thank you, Monster

Okie

Welcome to another edition of the Classic Collection, those posters I had BEFORE I started posting online.

But first, Oakie! Golly, by your wigged out ramblings, i am guessing you actually liked some of those posters. Fabulous! Nothing is as good as your many beautiful posters---but they make me happy (if only for the moment). Thank you , as always , for visiting.

JAWS 3-D:

I have JAWS and a couple of various styles of JAWS 2, so of course i would have a JAWS 3-D! And yes, i DID see this back in the day in 3D. What a piece of crap. I loved it. (But it's still crap). The poster is cool though.

JAWS THE REVENGE:

Here is the poster that put the final nail in the JAWS franchise coffin. If you thought JAWS 3-D was bad, here's JAWS THE REVENGE. This time it's personal ...and really, really bad. I saw this at the theater---TWICE. Ha!

BARRACUDA and THE INGLORIOUS BASTARDS (British quad combo):

I got this for BARRACUDA, of course. THE INGLORIOUS BASTARDS is NOT related to the similarly named, but alternately spelled flick by Quentin Tarantino. I had this hanging on the wall above the bathtub in my guest bathroom before I had a shower put in. Ha!

MUSCLE BEACH PARTY:

The Frankie and Annette Beach Party flicks have always been a guilty pleasure. They're inane and and fairly vacuous, but harmless and campy, too. Bond bad girl LUCIANA ("THUNDERBALL") PULUZZI stars as a rich contessa looking for a muscle man....namely Peter (TV's "Mission Impossible") Lupus (who is billed in the film--not the poster--as "Rock Stevens") who plays body building champion Flex Martian. Don Rickles (as "Jack Fanny"---think about it), Morey Amsterdam and Buddy Hackett all found work in this flick. Peter Lorre pops up at the end in a cameo, Stevie Wonder (billed as "Little Stevie Wonder") also appears. Dick Dale and the Del Tones are also in it, often seen hanging out with the Beach Party gang--and even surfing along with Frankie and company (and looking far older than any "teenager" ever should). But my favorite aspect of the movie is Candy Johnson. Candy was in the original BEACH PARTY, but here she has a name and lines. She also has her own brand of superpowers! Candy is this wild go-go dancer who always wears a lot of fringe. She has the amazing ability to launch those swinging hips at a guy (or film credits) and watch them go tumbling off as they are literally bowled over by her amazing go-go whammy! Candy went on to appear in most of the other films in the series. She was my fave. She was just so interesting (and exhausting) to watch. Sadly, she died of brain cancer in 2012. Below I'll post a video of the end credits of Muscle Beach Party featuring Candy knocking out the credits while Little Stevie Wonder sings. As a bonus, I'll include a second video (edited by someone else) showing Candy using her go-go powered wonder hips! Zowie!

BIKINI BEACH:

The third in the series... This one also features go-go dancing Candy Johnson (on the poster!). This flick featured Frankie Avalon in a dual role (as surfer Frankie and as British singing sensation, the Potato Bug!) and the fad the gang is into is drag racing. Don Rickles returns, but this time is called Big Drag. Little Stevie Wonder comes back and there is an appearance by bald surf band The Pyramids. Keenan Wynn is also in it and Boris Karloff pops up for a cameo at near the end. One of the daughters from "Pettycoat Junction", Meredith MacRae, is also in this, but is uncredited on the poster.

BEACH BLANKET BINGO:

The 4th and most well-known (!?!) of the Beach Party series, this one has the gang interested in ski diving. Don Rickles (for the final time) appears as Big Drop. Linda Evans is Sugar Cane, a singer. Her future co-star Michael "Mike" Nader is one of the Beach Party gang---and was in all of the movies, getting more and more screen time with each film. Paul Lynde plays Evans' agent. Earl Wilson is in this as is Buster Keaton. "Lost In Space" star Marta Kristen plays a mermaid!

HOW TO STUFF A WILD BIKINI:

The 5th and final Frankie & Annette Beach movie. Frankie's part was greatly reduced (per his request) and he doesn't even get his name on the poster. Annette is visibly pregnant in this flick--although she still plays chaste and virginal. Buster Keaton is back, along with Dwayne Hickman and Mickey Rooney. The title had to be changed to "HOW TO FILL A WILD BIKINI" for Australian audiences and "Stuff" had a vulgar sexual connotation there. (I wonder what they did about the title song? Hmm.) The Frankie & Annette-less Beach Party returned for GHOST IN THE INVISIBLE BIKINI.

PAJAMA PARTY:

A Beach Party movie---sort of. There were two off shoots of the official Beach Party series. This one featured both Frankie & Annette and the entire Beach Party gang (and the biker bad guys)--But Annette is playing someone besides her usual "Dee Dee"/"Dolores" character and Frankie is, well...He is a Martian commander seen only in an extended cameo. This was the last of the series to feature go-go dancing Candy Johnson. But it also features the Bride of Frankenstein herself, Elsa Lanchester along with Buster Keaton and Dorothy Lamour. Former Disney star Tommy Kirk is the male lead. He is a martian (in a total ripoff of "My Favorite Martian").

SKI PARTY:

The other Beach Party offshoot again features the regular Beach Party gang and the bad guy bikers. Frankie and Annette are in this---but again playing different characters. Frankie is a single college student. Annette (in the briefest of cameos) is a college professor (!!!). Leslie Gore and James Brown and the Famous Flames are featured along with Yvonne "Batgirl" Craig and Dwayne "Dobbie Gillis" Hickman.

THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE:

Possibly one of the greatest disaster films ever made (and one that inspired a sequel, TV movie remake and a theatrical remake---all of which bombed).I love the poster art on this. I never caught this in a theater--but was glued to the television when it made its broadcast debut. Wow!

And that's it for now. Thank you for visiting. I hope to see you next time.

Hi there. Welcome to another posting of my "classic collection"---those posters I had BEFORE I started posting online. I know I've been away a while. I was gone on a two week trip and I've just been busy with work and life in general. But I am B-A-C-K with 10 more things from my pre-online past.

But first, Okie -- may I thank you in return for your kind words. I'm glad you like my collection. It is what it is and doesn't pretend to be anything different. I welcome your visits. Thanks for stopping by this last time.

Okay--poster time.

DR. NO (80s re-release):

Yes, this is an 80s re-release. (I have a couple in this posting). I am fine with this being a re-release as it uses the same art as the original release poster and the original is CRAZY expensive. These re-release posters are getting crazy expensive, too. I'm glad I got mine when I did. Yowza!

YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE (80s re-release):

Another 80's re-release showcasing Bond in his gyrocopter (which, I believe was called the "Little Jenny"? Or am I flashing on something else?). I like this poster, i just wish they had also re-issued the poster with Bond in the bath with the Japanese ladies. I like that one a lot, too. (I wasn't so wild about the third poster in the volcano base with bond walking sideways on a ladder.)

THUNDERBALL / YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE (re-release combo):

This very well could have been my first poster for a Connery Bond movie (or, as it turns out, a double feature). Zowie! I had no idea these re-release combo posters existed until the early 2000s. This was the first purchased---but I believe I have scored all of them now.

DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER:

My oldest Connery first release Bond poster---DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER (did they even bother with an 80s re-release poster of this?). Bond's little space buggy is (used to be?) on display in Las Vegas (where the bulk of the action takes place) in the Planet Hollywood restaurant in the Roman Forum shops at Caesar's Palace. It is also strange to see CIRCUS CIRCUS---then the swanky, gimmicky new casino/hotel--in this when it is at the lower end of the strip now and probably not long from demolition.

THE SPY WHO LOVED ME:

The first movie I ever saw as a kid was GOLDFINGER at the Winchester Drive In in San Jose, California---but I was too young to understand what was happening and it took me YEARS to figure out what the movie had been. The first movie I ever saw that I knew was a James Bond movie was THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN on HBO. But the first Bond flick--where I knew it was a Bond flick--in the theater? THE SPY WHO LOVED ME. This was a great first "real" introduction (although I had really enjoyed GOLDEN GUN and the little bit I had gleaned from GOLDFINGER). Years later I got to interview Richard "JAWS" Kiel in his home. He had a small reproduction of this hanging in his home office/study. I couldn't believe I had an original and he didn't. I almost offered it to him, but restrained myself.

MOONRAKER:

I liked the first half of this film---and then it turned into a campfest...and fell apart (in my eyes). Still, it was a huge hit and I am thrilled to have the poster (I'm thrilled to have all of the Bond posters).

CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG:

Obviously NOT a Bond film, but written by Bond author Ian Fleming and produced by the Bond team. I love this flick---although I do believe it was considered somewhat of a flop when it came out, it has gone on to become a great cult success.

THE LOST WORLD OF SINBAD:

A SINBAD movie in (retitled/dubbed) named only. This is actually a Japanese fantasy flick that AIP acquired and wisely released as a SINBAD flick to cash in on the success of the Ray Harryhausen SINBAD (THE SEVENTH VOYAGE OF SINBAD). Fun art---but have never seen the flick. I've gotten several copies of this poster over the years (why do I do that? Grrr)--but this is the first one I owned.

BENEATH THE PLANET OF THE APES:

I know most people dismiss this first sequel to THE PLANET OF THE APES---but I dig it. I am also thrilled to have the poster for it.

BATTLE FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES:

This was the second APES poster I owned (after CONQUEST OF THE PLANET OF THE APES which I'd scored as a teenager). Notice the apparent discoloration on the lower right side? That was because the eBay seller wasn't very careful when he packed this up---and got some of the sticky glue/tape stuff on those USPS Priority Mail boxes on the poster. (No, the poster was NOT wrapped in plastic or anything else protective. Just shoved in a box, sealed, and sent. I had to painstakingly super slowly peel it away, That discoloration is a thin layer of the box still attached to the back of the poster. GRRR. I have purchased another copy or two since getting this one. But this remains my least favorite film in the series as well as my least favorite poster.

That's it for now. Thank you so much for stopping by.

Welcome back to the Shock-O-Rama Poster Show. Get your tickets now. The tour of my latest purchases is about to depart.

NEO, your ticket is on me. Thanks for the note. It's always nice to have you visit.

Okay, hold on to your seats, here are the posters...

ANDY WARHOL'S HOLLYWOOD (aka ANDY WARHOL'S HEAT):

I had been wanting one of these for AGES. I had won one once before, but somehow the seller ruined the poster when preparing it for shipment. I was THRILLED to get this one---but unfortunately i was on vacation when it was up and had to use my phone for everything...and didn't realize until later that it was only a small 12x19 copy---NOT the full-sized poster size. Oh well. I'll take it. I found it extremely snore-inducing and DULL. I do like the HOLLYWOOD alternative title as used in Germany, though.

BIRTH OF THE LIVING DEAD:

I have not seen this documentary on George Romero's 1968 horror opus, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. But I would love to. I've been after one of these for a while---and now, yippie---I finally have one. I dig the mondo-style art on this as well.

ANTS (Lebanese):

I have been after a regular one sheet for ANTS for years (Do I already have one? Hmm.) this very different Lebanese poster came up and I went for it. ANTS was a TV movie---that played theatrically outside of the US. I have not seen it, but have it on DVD to watch eventually. It is most notable for starring a pre-(?) "THREE'S COMPANY" Suzanne Somers shirtless (with arms obscuring her breasts) and covered with ants. EEEK!

SEPTEMBER STORM:

I already have several copies of this poster---but i am a sucker for a gimmick, especially 3D. 3D, you ask? It doesn't mention 3D anywhere. You are right. Although it IS a 3D flick, the 3D craze was over by the time this debuted in the early 60s. So the producers cleverly renamed 3D and made it sound like a whole new process. Ha! I've never seen the flick, but hope to soon. I can say that I donated money on Kickstarter or GoFundMe---or one of those sites---to help "save" the film and preserve/restore it (in 3D as well as 2D) on BluRay. My "reward" was a copy on BluRay---but alas, I am still trying to acquire a 3D TV. ARGH!

WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF?:

WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF? is a film my best friend loves---and I can NOT stand. Geez. Two hours of non-stop shouting and yelling and general squabbling between Elizabeth taylor and Richard Burton. UGH! I don't know why he likes it so much. I got the poster for him, but won't give it to him. (He'll never hang it.) Do I need to give this flick another shot?

THE LONG GOODBYE:

I've not seen this film---but love the MAD Magazine art (by Jack Davis) and cartoon captions on the poster. It was a no brainer...I needed it. How is the movie?

J.D.'S REVENGE:

Yahoo! Another long-sought blaxploitation title snagged. I've never seen this flick, but I do like my 70s blaxploitation movies---especially the horror titles. I'm NOT sure about this one, but it seems to cover reincarnation and/or possession. Now if I could just get myself a BLACKENSTEIN poster, I'd be set.

WITHOUT WARNING:

Yes, I already have this poster. I saw it and couldn't resist buying it. It kind of riffs on the original FRIDAY THE 13TH poster---but with an alien silhouette instead that of a knife-welding killer. I saw this flick in the theaters as a teen. It was just okay---but for some reason it has stayed with me.

THE HILLS HAVE EYES:

I have several copies of this classic as well---so why not another? Ha! Wes Craven's THE HILLS HAVE EYES is a great flick I saw on a double feature with the awful DON'T GO IN THE WOODS. HILLS was several years older---but was way better and packed a powerful punch.

HALLOWEEN (2018 International version B):

Zowie! It has been 40 years since the original HALLOWEEN. Boy do I feel old(er). I am excited about the new HALLOWEEN sequel (but am expecting to be disappointed somehow). I jumped on this "International Version B" poster when I saw it, knowing that the prices may rise considerably if the flick is a hit (but will probably become bargain basement cheapos....just my luck). I did see the trailer for this with "THE NUN" and was not very impressed. Oh well. I'll see what happens when it comes out.

And that concludes our tour this time. Please exit to your left and make sure you remember to take all purses, coats, jackets and small children you may have brought on board. Thank you for visiting and we hope to see you again soon.

Monster, you mentioned having all the Bond reissue posters. The American double feature posters are: DR. NO / FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE 1965, GOLDFINGER / DR. NO 1966, THUNDERBALL / FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE 1968, THUNDERBALL / YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE 1971, SPEND A NIGHT WITH JAMES BOND -DR.NO, FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, GOLDFINGER 1972. You could also count VIVA JAMES BOND 1970, which had a 1-sheet but was made for international distribution.

England had way more reissues than anyone else. There must be at least 20 different reissue double feature quads out there in every possible combination. Simon can fill you in on what was made better than I could.

Welcome to another edition of my Classic Collection---those posters I had BEFORE I started posting online.

cabmangray: Thank you ever so much for your note and your visit. I must say I should have been more careful in my description. When I said I had "all of the Bond double features", I was referring to the US one sheets only. There is no way I could track down and afford to buy all of the UK quad double features now. Zowie! That would be quite the undertaking. But thank you for sharing your knowledge and your visit.

Okay--on to the posters...

Today's offering is not all that exciting. There is nothing you urgently need to see. So sit back, relax and let the show begin.

SHARKY'S MACHINE:

An old Burt Reynolds poster (never saw the movie) from the 80s. This is sitting in my "sell pile" (where ever that ended up...in a box somewhere). Now would be the time to do it, in the wake of the actor's passing. Hmm. Where did I put it. I think this poster came in a "lot".

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME:

I've gotten other copies of this same poster that I have posted online. But this is the original copy I had. I had it framed and would hang it in my entry way around my birthday every year.

FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 3:

I saw this TWICE in the theaters back in the day--gimmick freak that I am. I still have the glasses from it somewhere. While this poster does convey the 3D aspect of the film nicely, the over all poster is kind of lame. But MOST of the early FRIDAY the 13th posters (after the brilliant original poster) were total DUDS. Part 2? Part 4? Part 5? Snore. NO IMAGES---just words. Missed opportunities. Oh well.

THE WONDERFUL LAND OF OZ:

I had never heard of this "sequel" to THE WIZARD OF OZ until I came across this poster for it. Zowie! I've since seen it and it is a low budget MESS for the kiddie matinee crowd of the mid-60s. Directed by Barry Mahon (the man responsible for things like "SANTA AND THE ICE CREAM BUNNY" and "FANNY HILL MEETS DR. EROTICO") and starring his son Channy as Tip (who is later transformed into Ozma, a girl!!!!). This is based upon the second book in the OZ series, "The Marvelous Land of Oz"--and Dorothy is nowhere to be seen. The poster screams "So many thrills you'll be Ozified!" I'm not so sure about that. But it is beyond bad in a somewhat entertaining way. Bad acting. Awful songs. Crappy sets. I had to have the poster! Ha!

JOURNEY BACK TO OZ:

I remember seeing this when it came out in the early 70s. It's a cheap-looking animated flick (by Filmation---the people who did such Saturday morning stuff as THE GROOVIE GOOLIES, the STAR TREK animated series, THE BRADY KIDS, and FAT ALBERT AND THE COSBY KIDS...and also the live-action shows like SHAZAM!, ISIS and JASON OF STAR COMMAND). But there are fascinating things about it. It was apparently started in 1962---but abandoned due to financial reasons. Once Filmation was back on its feet financially (due to its television success), the film was resurrected and finished/released. It plays like a sequel to the 1939 WIZARD OF OZ more or less. Liza Minnelli (quite young in 1962 when she did her voice work) sounds amazingly like her mother Judy Garland in the role of Dorothy. Margaret Hamilton does the voice of--not the Wicked Witch, but---Aunt Em. Other stars include Milton Berle, Danny Thomas, Paul Lynde and Ethel Merman, among others. I've since collected a few of the animation cells used to create this flick (They're not that hard to find). Nothing special--but an interesting side note for the OZ enthusiast.

THE MAGIC VOYAGE OF SINBAD:

Not really a true Sinbad movie. This was a Russian produced fantasy movie based upon a Russian legend that was very similar to Sinbad. Some savvy distributor picked it up, redubbed/retitled is and made it a Sinbad flick. I think I have seen this on DVD or VHS somewhere along the way. It's a blur, but I do remember the creepy bird woman somewhat. I do like my Sinbad flicks, so I needed this poster.

LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD AND HER FRIENDS:

K. Gordon Murray was (im)famous for importing kiddie movies from other countries, redubbing them and releasing them here in the US on unsuspecting kids all over the country. His biggest success was the Mexican import "SANTA CLAUS", which made him a lot of cash and he released it over and over and over. Returning to Mexico, he picked up several other productions to dub and release here. Among them was the LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD series. This one, the 2nd in the series, was kind of hard to track down as it was not as popular as the first LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD or the third (LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD AND THE MONSTERS). I've never seen any of them...

PEE WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE:

Pee Wee Herman (Paul Rubens) and a young Tim Burton were a match made in cinematic heaven. I LOVED this flick when I first saw it. I've been a Pee Wee fan ever since. I even tracked down the dinosaurs in the beginning of the movie (in Cabazon, California--now park of some religious park that claims dinosaurs were part of creation and man and dinos co-existed). This poster used to hang in my guest room.

DISASTER:

I've gotten other copies of this over the years---but have never seen the flick. I'm a sucker for disaster flicks. I had never heard of this until finding the half sheet at a flea market. The half sheet was very different, showing people standing around piles of rubble and ruined buildings. I snagged that half sheet and waited YEARS until tracking down the one sheet. I need to see this flick eventually.

GONE WITH THE WIND (70s re-release):

GONE WITH THE WIND was my grandmother's favorite movie. This was the poster I knew from the 70s as a kid. GONE WITH THE WIND's big re-release that decade was 1974. However, when the new Festival Cinemas opened in 1976 (with SIX screens! Zowie!), GONE WITH THE WIND and JAWS were among the movies playing there. (The theater has long since closed and is now a used car showroom), The first time I saw GONE WITH THE WIND was on television, then on VHS and on DVD. I eventually did see it in the theater--twice. I took my grandmother both times. It really is a great film.

That's about it for now...but I'll be back. I hope you'll call again when I do return.

Thank you for visiting.

Hi there! Welcome to another posting of new-to-me poster in the SHOCK-O-RAMA POSTER SHOW! There is some fun stuff here, but nothing all that exciting...except I am pretty wild/pumped about the last title in the pile.YOWZA! I am super thrilled to have that.

MEL: Thanks for the note. Perhaps your copy of DISASTER is one of the copies I purchased over the years? That would be wild. I hope you are well---and thank you for stopping by.

Now let's look at the posters:

THE SENTINEL:

This movie should have been better than it was. Interesting idea---lousy execution. (Whatever happened to???) Cristina Raines stars in this quasi-ROSEMARY"S BABY (without the baby) knock-off. This poster isn't that interesting. It was a bonus poster for another poster I bought. I already have at least one of these already.

SEXY SUSAN SINS AGAIN:

I had NO IDEA what this was when I bought it...but it was cheap, so I decided to go for it. Apparently it is a German historical sex comedy about a plot to stop an assassination attempt on Napoleon. The only name actor (as far as anyone in the US would be aware of anyway) is JEFFREY HUNTER, who was the original choice to play the Captain in the pilot for the original "STAR TREK"series. Whatever...

FREDDY'S DEAD: THE FINAL NIGHTMARE
(Advance):

I probably already have this--I know I have the regular one sheet--but was not sure about this advance. Hmm. So I got it. This sixth was NOT the end of the series (Duh!)---and it was kind anti-climactic anyway. The 3-D finale was a great gimmick I would have rushed out to see---had I not already planned on seeing this (I'd seen all of the ELM STREET flicks in the theater to that point). The finale was STUPID (despite the 3D). Oh well. Freddy is an amazing character---and trying to explain why he is the way he is was not necessarily a good idea. The following entry, "Wes Craven's New Nightmare", would be the last in the series....and that was followed by a lackluster remake of the original (the only one I didn't bother seeing in the theaters).

WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES (Style C):

I have ALL of the posters for the PLANET OF THE APES films (from the original to present day), even though some of the movies (like this one) just didn't do it for me. (Yawn). I already have a WAR poster---but it is a close up of the lead ape on horseback (at the very center of this larger scale poster). I may have this poster as well (probably do), but wasn't sure. The tagline reads "witness the end"--is this the last one? We shall see.

SISTERS:

Another poster I already have a previous copy (or two) of. Pre-SUPERMAN Margot Kidder and Jennifer ("Soap" and producer on "American Horror Story") Salt star as grown separated siamese twins. It sounds like a cool flick--but alas I have never seen it (yet). Written and directed by Brian DePalma.

SLAVEGIRLS FROM BEYOND INFINITY:

I think I already have a copy of this, but am not sure. I remember actually seeing this with something called CREEPAZOIDS many years ago (late 1980s). The movies were NOT memorable at all--but the experience was. The theater where this was shown was downtown and had, just a few days/weeks earlier, been a Pussycat Theater showing porn! Ha! This new theater (I think it was called The Lyric Theater?) apparently did ZERO renovations, as the place screamed porn theater when I was inside. Red velvety curtains along the walls, red seats, red-painted walls in the lobby. Even the outside marquees still had the Pussycat Theater logo on them. It was weird being in a "porn theater" watching "regular" movies. After seeing the flicks, I kept my eye out for other obscure stuff to play there I'd like to see (SLAVEGIRLS and CREEPAZOIDS played nowhere else in town). Alas, almost as soon as it opened, the Lyric closed. I don't think it was even open a month. I never got back to it and it has been shuttered ever since. The movies may have been forgettable, but the poster art on this one is cheesy cool.

THE SEX MACHINE:

I have one of these somewhere. The poster is the best thing about this flick, which used to air on Cinemax back in the day. It is some lame European sex comedy that isn't very sexy or funny. Whatever. I do remember when it played in my town though, back in the 70s (?). The ads in the newspaper called it "The Love Machine" (NOT to be confused with the Jacqueline Susann movie/book of the same name).

WILD, WILD PLANET:

I've never seen the flick, but have long admired the poster. Now it is MINE, baby! Whoo hoo!

HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD:

Do I have this already? I know I have the poster for VAN NUYS BLVD, but this one? Hmm. Filmed in Superama 185...whatever that might have been. With a great exploitation cast including Candice Rialson, Mary Woronov, Paul Bartel, Dick Miller and "Godzilla"! Ha! Cool poster, too.

KISS OF THE VAMPIRE:

Pucker up...here is the great Hammer classic, KISS OF THE VAMPIRE. You have to love this cool poster. I do. I have long wanted one of these as well...and now it is mine. Whoo hoo! Fantastic artwork!

That is all for now. I hope you will call again soon. THANK YOU for your visit.

Hi Monster!

Sisters: Irving Berlin horror dancing "cheek-to-cheek"! With more than a dash of Salt.

The Sentinel: How many Academy Award nominated/winning/honorary actors does Ms. Raines have to keep from escaping hell: Sarandon, Miles, Ferrer, Meredith, Gardner, and Wallach!

Inspecting Sexy Susan's "Cage" adds to the "Menagerie" of the Enterprise's second Captain, eh?!

Good thing there wasn't a blacklight Slavegirls showing at your Pussycat/Lyric Theatre, Monster. If so, you may have seen the "Beyond Infinity" glow of how films were enjoyed prior to your first visit!

I love "Science Friction"! Great tagline. When you need power, plug-in and then plug-in!

Laser Girls in fully protective, recoil bikinis! Death to misogyny!

I want to attempt a clever saying about Hollywood Boulevard, but I'm currently lost in its beautiful John Solie art....

Here's to giant wrist biting vampire bats, Monster!

Okie

Another great selection! I especially like the motion thingy after "The Sentinel". It's from "Cube", an underrated Canadian sci-fi flick. It's worth checking out! The poor unfortunate being sliced and diced is Julian Richings.

Hi there! Welcome back to the SHOCK-O-RAMA POSTER SHOW! And happy (almost) HALLOWEEN! Any big plans for the spooky night? I don't know what I'll be doing, but I'll be doing it out of town. Yes, I'm running away for the holiday. So---here is my Halloween offering for this year. Not all of the posters are horror--and not all of them are even good--but there are a few gems in here (in my opinion). Take a gander...if you DARE!

But first:

Okie: Nice to see you and your crazy evaluations of my last post. Ha! Thank you (I think?) And, as to the blacklight comment at the former Pussycat Theatre. Similar thoughts were racing through my head at the time I was choosing (eew) a seat. I picked my place as carefully as I could.... Yikes!

cabmangray: Thanks for your visit. Yes, THE CUBE was a pretty groovy movie. Glad you were able to spot it. CHEERS!

And now, poster time...

NIGHTMARES:

This was a lot poster. I have several copies and didn't need another---but... I saw this movie in the theaters. It is an anthology movie. It seems like there were four (?) segments, but I only remember two of them---something about a video game and one about a woman going to the store alone with a serial killer on the loose. (The woman was so dumb---she "deserved to be killed"---but I don't recall her fate in the film. People were literally SCREAMING at her from the audience because she was so stupid. HA!) It's a crappy film with a real made-for-TV feel to it. Utterly forgettable---no wonder the poster is often included this poster as a freebie or bonus.

STAR WARS III (Advance):

Another STAR WARS something I got cheap for selling down the road. I'm so NOT ba STAR WARS fan, i don't even know the subtitle for this flick and I'm not going to bother looking it up. Ha!

THE HOUSE WITH A CLOCK IN ITS WALLS:

I have not seen this, but even though it appears to be a kiddie film, it looks kind of cool. I got the advance a while back. This release poster was colorful and cheap. Why not?

DIARY OF THE DEAD (British Quad):

I didn't really need this British quad for DIARY OF THE DEAD. The movie was just so-so (and I DID get to see this in the theaters). However, it is a Romero zombie flick and it is different than the US one sheet. Why not?

HELL FEST (Advance):

I just saw this the other day. Even though it did nothing at the box office (my friend and I were the ONLY ones in the theater during a matinee), I still thought it was pretty good and I could see something like this happening in real life. Scary! I decided to pick up this poster now (while it's cheap) as i have a feeling this movie may catch on down the road...

HELL FEST:

The advance poster was nice, but I really dig this final version of the poster. There are lots of great elements from the film here. It was great fun to see TONY "Candyman" TODD in a cameo part as well (He's the guy on the left in the top hat). Not a great film, but interesting. It was kind of like a throw back 80s slasher, set today and inside of a big Halloween multiple maze attraction (like Universal's HALLOWEEN HORROR NIGHTS or KNOTTS SCARY FARM---but off in the woods somewhere).

ARMY OF DARKNESS:

Yes, another copy of EVIL DEAD 3. The EVIL DEAD films were fun---as was the recent TV series (ASH VS THE EVIL DEAD), which continues the story that was left off in ARMY OF DARKNESS (Part 3). It's interesting that after three movies, the story received three seasons on the air. The remake of the first film a few years back was thankfully ignored.

S.O.S. TITANIC (Italian 2F):

I think I must have completely missed this telling of the unfortunate Titanic saga, This one apparently started life as a 1979 TV movie here in the states. International audiences had to pay to see it in theaters, though. I'm sure it was very TV movie-esque and cheap looking. Oh well, the poster is cool.

THE EXOTIC ONES:

SCORE!!!! I have wanted this poster forever. I'd have preferred to get this under it's alternative name, THE MONSTER AND THE STRIPPER, but I will take what I can get. This shot in New Orleans exploitationer was made by Ron & June Ormond. The Ormonds got their start making westerns. When TV started eating in to the profits of westerns, they switched to horror and exploitation, creating such flicks as MESA OF LOST WOMEN and UNTAMED MISTRESS. From exploitation, they moved into producing country music movies (like FORTY ACRE FEUD and WHITE LIGHTNING ROAD) and then segued into producing roller derby on TV. After a brief return to exploitation (like this flick, THE EXOTIC ONES, and THE GIRL FROM TOBACCO ROAD), their final calling turned out to be making religious scare films, such as THE BURNING HELL and THE GRIM REAPER. This flick features the Ormond's son Tim and stars (as the monster) someone named SLEEPY LABEEF. I kid you not. Zowie!

CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON (2012 French Re-Release):

Although I have a THE CREATURE WALKS AMONG US one sheet, I'll never be able to afford an original CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON poster, so I am thrilled to win this cool French re-release...wallowing in the fact it is in 3D, too!

That is all of the treats I have today, kiddies. I hope your Halloween is spooktacular! May the Great Pumpkin bring you lots of rare and cool poster treats!

BOO!

Hello. Welcome to another SHOCK-O-RAMA POSTER SHOW! 2018 is winding down.... So many posters left to get... Oh well. I guess they'll have to wait for next year.

guest4955: Thank you for visiting. Did you get a chance to see the film yet? I haven't...but really think I will eventually check it out. Come back any time.

Here's a look at some of my recent acquisitions. Take a gander...or don't!

THE NIGHT OF THE WALKING DEAD:

I paid way, way, W-A-Y too much for this poster. It is stained and torn and in pretty rough shape. Why bother? Because I had NEVER seen this poster before. Despite the title riffing on NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, this obscure Eurosploitation cheapy is about vampires instead of undead zombies, apparently. I must have been in a special kind of stupid fugue state when I bought this...

HELLFEAST (Advance):

I saw this flick a while back and thought it was good enough to catch on down the road (since it did so poorly at the box office). I got copies of the advance and the release poster for it. When they came up again at a reasonable price, I thought I'd go for it. I lost the regular release poster (which is much, much better), but did get this advance at a rather cheap price. Cool.

THE BURGLAR:

I am a Jayne Mansfield fan. This poster has some issues, but I didn't have one yet. I've never seen the flick though.

BRUNO (Costume):

Every now and again, I am known to buy props that were (supposedly) used in movies. This time, I (supposedly) have some screen-worn costumes in the mix. As I was flipping through the offerings for a recent auction, I came across the shirt (the next item down) I instantly recognized as having seen, worn by an extra, in the film "BRUNO". I thought about getting it, but taken out of context, it might be offensive (well, it IS offensive...but meant to be as part of the parodoxic comedy of the film). I thought, if I get that shirt, I should get something that Bruno wore as well. I didn't have time to track the flick down and I've only seen it once in the theater (It wasn't nearly as good as BORAT). This was said to have been worn by Bruno during the first interview in the film. Since winning it, I can find NO EVIDENCE of that. Ha! Oh well... Maybe it was in Bruno, or maybe I just bought a silly hip outfit I will never wear?

BRUNO (Extra costume):

When I saw this T-shirt for auction, I immediately flashed on seeing it, worn by an extra, in the film BRUNO. From what I read/heard, much of BRUNO (like BORAT) is improvised in front of unwitting people---kind of like a "Candid Camera" thing. To get better reactions from the unsuspecting, extras were used and costumed accordingly and fit in to the scenes. I always thought this shirt was just too much for anyone to really wear in public. Apparently, I was right. This was a costume worn by a planted extra. The photo has been censored...but I think you can figure it out.

THE DORM THAT DRIPPED BLOOD:

This was movie was originally known as PRANKS while in production (I remember it gracing the front page of FANGORIA with that title), but was released as THE DORM THAT DRIPPED BLOOD. I missed this when it came out in the 80s, but had heard good things about it. I finally saw it not long back and...eh. It was forgettable. Oh well.

THE HUNCHBACK OF THE MORGUE (Spanish):

I thought sure I had posted this already, but apparently I didn't. This country of origin poster didn't set me back all that much...so I went for it. I've never seen the flick before, but if it's a Paul Naschy, I am sure it is cheesy watchable.

THE SPY WHO DUMPED ME:

This is certainly NOT the best poster ever. Why buy it? A friend dragged me to see this back in August. I was expecting it to be terrible. Instead, I found myself actually enjoying the film far, far more than I had expected.

STAR WARS I: THE PHANTOM MENACE (3D re-release):

As much as I HATED this "first" episode of the STAR WARS saga when it first came out, I DID go back and see it in its 3D release (because I'm a gimmick whore). I already have a few of these. It was cheap. Sold.

JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH:

Zowie! This is my big coup for this posting. It's the original JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH starring James Mason and Pat Boone. I have always loved this old fantasy flick. Cheesy with primitive effects---it's a fun watch. I've been after the poster for years. So glad it is now mine...

And that's it for now. I'll be back soon. I'm almost done with my NEXT installment already. Ha! I hope your holiday season is ho-ho wonderful.

« Reply #1469 on: December 12, 2018, 12:46:36 AM »

Happy December! Are you ready for the holidays? I'm not. And a lot of late in the year/early next year expenses have me curtailing my poster purchases. This will probably be my final posting for 2018... Let's take a look:

MAUSOLEUM:

Yes, I already have one of these. It came with the poster below it. I've never seen MAUSOLEUM---which surprises the heck out of me. It's probably trash---I'm sure I'd love it.

NIGHT OF THE ZOMBIES:

I remember seeing this flick at a theater that no longer exists back in the day. I had cut class my freshman year of college to see it. I got there in my clunker old Mustang, saw the flick, and got back home. The next time I tried to drive, my car was dead. Phew! Had it died just one trip earlier, I'd have been stranded at the theater...and my class cutting would have been discovered. Ha! And for this movie? Hmm. Not the best zombie flick ever. Far from it, actually. I already have a copy of this poster but thought I'd get an upgrade.

SOLO (Character Advance):

I am reasonably sure I have this already. It was cheap--so why not? This is strictly a low-risk investment. I'm hoping it will increase in value---but who knows?

The COCKTAIL HOSTESSES:

I just picked this up, minutes ago, from eMovie's store. It's not the most exciting poster ever (far from it) and no where does it say this, but this film was written by Ed "PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE" Wood. So, of course, I needed one. This is an A.C. Stephens flick... I've never seen it. I don't know if it is even available anywhere.

HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL / DAUGHTER OF DR. JEKYLL (re-release combo):

I will probably never own a HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL...so this re-release double feature poster will have to do. (I already have a poster for DAUGHTER OF DRACULA...but, whatever...)

WAR-GODS OF THE DEEP:

I saw this poster years ago---and have been trying to get it ever since. I had never seen the movie until very recently. When I finally did see it, well...the desire for the poster waned greatly---and then it became mine. Ha! Great cast--Vincent Price, Tab Hunter, David Tomlinson and Susan Hart--wasted in this wild undersea (badly faked) adventure.

BASKET CASE:

I already have a couple of copies of this poster---but this went much cheaper than I thought it should (or maybe people today don't know the movie? It is AWESOME in its low budget brilliance). The sequels were crap and possibly cheapened the value of the original? I remember sneaking out of the house and pushing my car down the block a ways before starting it so i could see a midnight showing of this flick. I was supposed to meet a friend there...but never found her...so ended up watching it alone. Ha!

THE LOST VOLCANO:

When "Boy" (Johnny Sheffield) from the TARZAN series grew too old for the part---he was shipped off to school and never seen again. But some smart producer took Sheffield and had him star in the Bomba-The Jungle Boy series. I've been trying to track these posters down forever. I score one finally a year or so ago...and now this one. Usually they go so high...but I snagged this one at a surprisingly reasonable price! Whoo hoo!

JAWS (Turkish):

I already have a Turkish JAWS...but it was badly damaged in shipping. (GRRRR!) I needed another and this fit the bill. The added addition of the swimmer in the shark's mouth was inspired. Ha!

THE INCREDIBLY STRANGE CREATURES WHO STOPPED LIVING AND BECAME MIXED-UP ZOMBIES:

This (to me) is the real prize in this posting. INCREDIBLY STRANGE CREATURES... may be one craptastic piece of cinematic sleaze, but it is also amazing in its craptasticness. It's in "Terrorama" and it is (gasp!) "the First Monster Musical"! Ha! I've wanted one of these forever. Finally it is MINE! Whoo HOO!

Here's the trailer for this obscure oddity:

http://www.youtube.com/v/gMMkrdy1_0I

Oh heck...here's the whole freaked-out film. Ha!:

http://www.youtube.com/v/49ykXWsMjG0

And that's 10. This is gonna do it for 2018, but I should have more in 2019 (I actually already have two so far to kick the new year off!). May your Christmas be jolly and filled with posters you've been dreaming of. Here is to 2019 being the most amazing year ever!

Who better to string together: Vampira's impossibly tiny waist; Cesar Romero as Santa; Russian trolled Schreck Solo; a dead, sneaky Mustang; artificial flavor Doug Henning RIP; cocktail two-cheek sneak; Louella "Watch Out" Parsons; Last Man on Earth cork screw; Price Tab's Hart; Rugged lonely rendezvous; where's my volcano loin cloth; Hermey dentistry from the mountains to the sea; Monster Mash-stick out your tush; and, horror host pantoumery? Well, our own little Monster, of course! God bless us, every go-go.

Happy new year!

OKIE: I've been rushing my posts the last few times (including this one). I need to find "new material" and gifs. But I'm glad you like whatever I do to add to the post. CHEERS!

Welcome to 2019 and a whole new year of poster collecting! Oh boy, what treasures will we find this year? Below you will find my first new pieces of precious paper for the new year. Granted, some (most?) were purchased in late 2018, but they are making their debut here for the first time! Let's take a peek...

THE CLASS REUNION:

Another of the ED WOOD-penned nudie flicks for AC STEPHEN. I didn't realize it at the time I purchased this, but I ALREADY HAVE a copy of this poster. Oh well. It's always nice to have a spare, I guess. It was cheap anyway...

THE SNOW BUNNIES:

Speaking of ED WOOD-penned nudies for AC STEPHEN, here is another one...THE SNOW BUNNIES! I've never seen any of these WOOD/STEPHEN flicks, but would love to eventually. Notice the four actresses mentioned in THE CLASS REUNION are also the 4-billed stars of SNOW BUNNIES? Ha!

SOLO (Character advance):

I now have three of these (four? five?), I think. (Heck, I had one in my last post!) Cheap posters...I just hope my gamble that they will go up in value will prove true. Hmm.

GIRLS WILL BE GIRLS:

What is this, you ask? It's just the poster for one of the funniest movies I have ever seen, is all. I was taken to see GIRLS WILL BE GIRLS in its brief theatrical run back in 2003. One of my all-time favorite BAD movies is "VALLEY OF THE DOLLS". I was told this was like a comedic send-up of DOLLS. Okay... And while I could see the DOLLS connection (three women trying to make it in Hollywood), it was not very DOLLS-like at all. But it was politically incorrect HILARIOUS. I LOVED it. All of the parts--men, women, child--are portrayed by males. But the drag thing was secondary...and I forgot the "women" were not really women--MOST of the time. (I don't know why they had to be played by drag queens---since they were supposed to be 'real" women. But whatever. It worked.) The poster is not much...but it is fairly difficult to find. I've been looking for years. I thought this flick was so funny, that I sent money to its Kickstarteer campaign in 2010 to help make a sequel, to be called GIRLS WILL BE GIRLS 2012. I'm actually maybe supposed to be in the flick briefly...but as of yet, the sequel film has NOT been released. Oh well...

LIGHTS OUT (lenticular advance):

I think lenticular's are cool. This one just has the light switch off and on...but the movie was good and I got this for $45 plus shipping. Not bad for a lenticular.

V/H/S:

I may have one of these already, but when i saw this on Netflix a while back, I thought it was pretty good. I had no idea it played theatrically, so getting this theatrical poster is groovy for me.

GODZILLA - KING OF THE MONSTERS (2019):

New GODZILLA movie, new poster. I got one early to beat the crazy crowd that makes everything so high priced as it gets closer to the film debuting. While the new GODZILLA flicks are not rocking my world, they are okay. I still need an original GODZILLA and a DESTROY ALL MONSTERS. I think I have the rest of the other original (US) posters...

BLADE RUNNER 2049 (advance):

I usually avoid buying posters for sequels (except the STAR WARS movies as the fans still buy those like crazy...), but this one was an interesting exception. The original goes for big bucks--and how crazy to make a sequel 30 years later. Awesome.

THE INVISIBLE MAN (French petite re-release 2000):

Shocking as it may seem, I have never seen THE INVISIBLE MAN films. (Calm down. Calm down. I do have the LEGACY COLLECTION and am working my way through it. I'll get to this sooner or later. I just finished THE MUMMY flicks...). I really dig the French portrait posters for the early 2000 re-releases. I'll have to get the others, but am happy with this one for now.

THE MONSTER WALKS (1938 re-release 3-sheet):

I've never seen this flick, but understand it is readily available as it is in public domain. I purchased this--at the last minute--in eMovie's December Major Auction, not realizing at the moment that it was a re-release poster. However, a 1932 3-sheet may no longer be known to exist any longer, according to this blurb in the auction: Important Added Info: Note that we have never seen a 1932 three-sheet for this movie (for that matter, we have also never seen a 1932 one-sheet, either!). So we don't know if the 1932 posters would have similar or different images to the 1938 Astor re-release posters (often, Astor posters are very similar to the first release posters). We have seen an Argentinean poster that appears to be from 1932, and that had almost the same image as the 1938 one-sheet, so we think it is likely that this 1938 three-sheet has the same or a similar image as the original 1932 three-sheet. If anyone HAS ever seen a 1932 one-sheet or three-sheet for this movie, please e-mail us and we will post that information here. Also note this three-sheet poster was tri-folded only (which means there is one less vertical machine fold than usual). This means the poster has a significantly lesser number of folds than with three-sheets folded in the "regular" way, which is nice!

Either way, it is a nice-looking poster and I am happy to get it. With this one, i feel like i am starting off the new year right.

Thanks for visiting. I hope 2019 has many wondrous and incredible surprises in store for you.

Hello! It is my second post of the new year, and already things are shaping up to be a rather mediocre (at best) year. The posters below represent my continual stupid practice on bidding on just about anything before heading to or secretly while at work---losing all of the good stuff and getting stuck with crap I really do not want. (And speaking of crap I really do not want, I am in the process of getting tons of stuff packaged up and shipped to auction...Why keep all of the flotsam and sludge I really don't want and/or will never hang?) There's not much to see. But if you have a few minutes to waste---feel free to wander around and take a look.

But first...

RICH: The poster is a bit of a horror, too. NOT attractive at all. Ha!

Okay--poster time:

YOUNGBLOOD (Australian daybill):

I never saw this. I don't think I have ever heard of it, actually. I saw that Patrick Swayze was in it and thought that might make it collectible? What was i thinking? That's not even Patrick Swayze in the main photo. (OOPS! But I was looking at my phone secretly at work when I bid. i couldn't tell it was Rob Lowe.) Ha! I'm sure that, as soon as I get it, I'll turn around and get rid of it again.

HOW TO STUFF A WILD BIKINI (Australian daybill):

Another "what was I thinking?" purchase. While I admit I like my "Beach Party" movies and have all of the posters for them already, I went after this one because of the title change. "Stuff" became "Fill" down under because apparently "Stuff" is slang for...well, a four-lettered word beginning with an "F". I thought that was funny...and wonder HOW they got around the opening title theme song. Did they re-record it with "Fill"? Was it cut altogether? If not, I'm sure there were shocked adults and a lot of giggling youngsters when this showed. Ha!

THE FIRST PURGE:

This is the 4th film in the series. Normally I do not bother with sequel posters---with exceptions (Bond, horror franchises I like, etc.). This one I should have let go by as well. However, i have posters for the other three films, so why not?

TRANSYLMANIA:

Another poster I didn't need. What was I thinking when I bought this turd? Well, this spring, I have a big European trip coming up with friends. I'll visit London, Florence, Naples/Pompeii, and Rome. I will be leaving my friends while in London for several days in St. Petersburg (Yes, in RUSSIA!) to visit another friend. I have another friend in Romania I am toying with the idea of going to see while we are in Florence for a week. Looking into that possibility (which I am thinking more and more about making a reality), I realized that the Transylvania area of Romania is only a few hours drive from Bucharest, where my Romanian friend lives. Hmm. Maybe I can get up there as well? While heavily excited about the possibility of seeing the real Transylvania, this poster came up and I bought just because. I've never seen the flick and I am guessing it is bad, bad, BAD. Oh well...

QUERELLE (German):

I have been thinking a lot about my poster-collecting friend who committed suicide two years ago. I bought a lot of his posters when they came to auction---but a lot I had to let go to others. I remember this particular poster was one I let go. I remember thinking the front of the sailor guy's undershirt was strangely too low cut. It looks like he has boobs with a hairy cleavage (well, it IS I guess)...it almost looks like a hairy butt. Dumb, random thought---but that is why I remember this poster. I've never seen QUERELLE, so I have no idea if it is any good or not. I also have no idea why I bought this because I am reasonably sure it is NOT Scott's copy. UGH!

ALIEN (Large French):

This is one of those posters I recently bought after remembering an auction was happening and trying to quickly sneak a look on my phone (with tiny pictures) and just bid blindly. When I bid, i had no idea this was French. UGH! I already have an ALIEN poster. It was one of the first posters I ever had as a kid...so it is not in the best condition. i wanted this as a replacement. Now I'll just turn around and sell it again...

FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VII--THE NEW BLOOD (International one sheet):

Why did I buy this? I already have a few copies of the domestic version. UGH!!!! What a waste of cash-o-rama.

ANDY WARHOL'S BLUE MOVIE (German):

I do like my Warhol posters....and this was not released in the US. But why am I not loving it? Hmm.

HERE COMES THE DEVIL:

This poster is not that exciting...but to me, it is the "winner" of the bunch. I've never seen this flick, but I have heard good things about it. Hopefully, if I do see it, it will live up to its reputation and be the sole positive purchase out of all of these in today's post. (If it sucks, well... Back into the resale pile it goes...)

Okay--we are done. Jump for joy. Now you can get outta here.

I'll see you next time. (That is, if you bother to return. Hmm...)

Hello and welcome back. It's time for more posters and again...there's not much to be excited about. Hmm. Well, since you are, you might as well take a look. There may be something that catches your eye...

BAD TIMES AT THE EL ROYALE (International Style A teaser):

I never saw this movie, but I remember thinking the trailer for it made it look good. I DID want to go. I thought I would at least get the poster and maybe I'll see the flick sometime? Did anyone see it? Is it worth my time? Hmm.

ANTIBIRTH:

I've never seen this. The poster is colorful, but the art is...eh. However, the film intrigues me now---which is why I went for the poster. Just look at those reviews; "Gross as Hell" and "Epically F***ED-UP!" Wow! I need to see this. I have a copy sitting in my cart on Amazon even as I write this... ha!

KISS ME, STUPID:

Hmm. This was cheap. I don't think I've ever heard of it---but Kim Novak? Dean Martin? In a film by Billy Wilder? I thought this was probably a bargain and snatched it up...but I am not sure. hmm.

THE GREATEST SHOWMAN (Style B advance):

I'm still on the fence about this purchase. Did I need it? NO.

THE PREDATOR (style A teaser):

I'm also unsure about the wisdom of getting this poster. Is it a remake or a sequel. i didn't bother to see it. I do have a poster for all of the other PREDATOR films though (why I have them, I'm not quite sure...but...)

THE SEVEN MAGNIFICENT GLADIATORS:

Not a HERCULES film, but along the same lines---from the brief revitalized interest in the 80s. I've never seen it. It's probably crap. oh well.

I DEMONI (aka THE DIRT GANG) (Italian 4 F):

UGH! Bad bid again...this was another quickie bid on my phone at work. I thought the poster looked cool...a wild Charles Manson-looking dude and a title like "I Demoni"--it sounded up my alley. Who knew it was something released here as "The Dirt Gang"? That sounds utterly dull (as dirt). And it turned out to be a 4 F. I hate that size! Grr...

HORROR EXPRESS (German):

I( have a lot of different posters for HORROR EXPRESS--all with different art work. This art is, in my opinion, the preferred art for the film. I'm glad to have it.

THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH (International):

I have the US release, but have never had this International poster for the second to the last of the Pierce Brosnan Bond films. I liked this outing--despite Denise Richards playing a scientist (named Christmas Jones, or something like that). Ha!

TWO LOST WORLDS:

I've seen this poster only once before. I have never seen the flick. I wonder if the dinosaur scenes are just borrowed from other old films or new? (It looks cheap---I'm guessing the shots are borrowed. Ha!) "Jim Arness" is really James Arness from the old "Gunsmoke" TV show (I looked that up at least). The poster is kind of fun---but the dinosaurs look like the artist was from the 7th grade or something. Ha!

And that's it for now. Thanks for visiting. I know the collection was not all that fab this time...but it was a step up from last time. (Hopefully) I'm already working on the next installment. Stay tuned.
