Hi. I'm in the Bay Area...sweating to death. UGH. Tomorrow we actually leave for Oregon--and the wedding I'm going to. It will be 8+ hours in the car. Blah! Anyway, before I get bogged down with the all-day drive, I thought I'd throw up these miscellaneous poster purchases...nothing worth writing home about, so i'm getting 'em out of my hair now. But first...

STEVE:  Thanks for taking a look. How nice to have to drop in. I'm jealous of your winter. It's so hot right now.

And now the miscellaneous poster posting:

THE COSSACKS:

I've never heard of this one. I have it because it came with the poster below.  It looks to be from the same era (and is probably an offshoot from the whole Hercules/sword&sandal/peplum craze in the late 50s/early 60s).

SPARTACUS (Academy Award style):

SPARTACUS is a good movie, but not really my type of thing. i DID see it in the theaters during a re-release though. I  collect posters that are of the Hercules/sword&sandal/peplum era...and this is a big budget Hollywood version of those types of flicks. I'll never hang this, but I told myself if this particular style poster for the film ever came around I'd try for it. I've tried several times over the years...never got one and really didn't care. Another came along, with the bonus poster above...and it was mine.

THE HIDDEN:

A poster I already had. Glad to have another, i guess. This one and the one below it came with the one on the bottom.

SESSION 9:

I did see this when it came out... I was so excited to see it...but was then so very disappointed when i finally did see it. I will say that the old asylum that was used in the film was awesome and gorgeous and HUGE. It's too bad a better film couldn't have been fashioned to make use of the structure as most of it has been torn down and only the very front/center has been preserved (sort of) as the facade of an apartment complex. Oh well...

HELLRAISER:

A classic...but I already have it. I shouldn't have bought it, but...

That's it. Tomorrow officially starts the road trip (but it is already off to a bum start. We got the car, went to get gas for it, and got locked out. We had to have roadside assistance come out and rescue us...even before the trip began. Ha!).

Stay cool and stay well.

Cheers!

Some nice ones, Shawn.

Always loved that 'The Hidden' poster, and the Hellraiser is classic.  thumbsup.gif

Hi CHRIS. What a super delight to see you here, as always. I'm glad you liked a few things in my last batch of miscellaneous stuff. I am back from my road trip to Oregon for a wedding. It turned out better than i thought, but--UGH!--what an ordeal. But, while I was gone...what did I do? Picked up more crap i don't really need. So...here it is:

Bram Stoker's Dracula (Advance teaser):

This was part of a lot i got a while back...just posting it to get it up and out of my hair.

NIGHT OF THE DEMONS:

I got this (and several others on here--look for the watermark) last night from Rich during one of his auctions. THANK YOU, Rich.

WARLOCK:

I probably already have this...it was inexpensive and I bid. Sold!

THE CHURCH:

Is this a one sheet or a video poster? I had NO IDEA it played theatrically in the USA if it is a one sheet. Zowie!

THE TOUCH OF SATAN:

I have been after one of these for ages, thinking it was the poster for a horror movie i saw advertised as a kid in San Jose. It's a CRAPPY movie...but the poster can be difficult to obtain. I got this one...but then I realized that (DUH!) this couldn't be the movie I thought was the one i saw a commercial for as this came out in 1974...and I was still living in San Jose when I saw the TV ad...and we moved in late 1971. Hmm.

SUPERMAN III (Review style):

God, SUPERMAN 3 was the WORST of the series---worse than Part 4!  Why would I bother? Simply because I have NEVER seen one of these posters before. I was intrigued. Who paid off TIME to write this kiss ass review? Ha!

GRAVE OF THE VAMPIRE:

Disappointing vampire flick starring Grindhouse legend William Smith.

THE BIRDS II:

So, i'll probably never own an original THE BIRDS poster...but here is the poster for the made for Showtime sequel, THE BIRDS II...which was awful and I'm sure many, many people have forgotten it or have no idea this movie ever existed. But I got the poster to prove it, baby! Whoopie...

PRISONER OF PARADISE:

This is a porn flick (hello? Seka? John Holmes?) that I've never seen. Why did I buy it? Well, I am under the impression that this is a porno knock off on the brief Nazisploitation craze of the 70s and early 80s. One of those completist purchases. I can only imagine what this movie must be like... Ha!

THE PROPHECY:

I know I saw this horror flick starring Christopher Walken in the theaters, but I can NOT remember a thing about the movie. And there were like 5 made for video sequels i believe---never saw any of them. This was part of a "lot" (like the first poster)

That's it for now. I'm just glad to be HOME! Thanks for visiting.

Have a groovy 4th!

I can't believe the esteemed Richard Corliss wrote this Superman 3 review.  It's insane.  The guy was one of the top reviewers of his time and wrote countless reviews for Film Comment and Time magazine.  I'm baffled.

And The Birds 2  :o  I wasn't aware any attempt at a sequel was ever made.  With Tippi Hedren no less.

I learned something today.  Thanks.

ARGH! Photobucket has decimated my thread. While I am trying to figure out my next move as far as restoring it (if possible), I remembered an old, aborted blog I had started more than 10 years ago that went nowhere fast. While I am scrambling to find an alternative to Photobucket (and I am not going to pay their blackmail-ish ransom), I decided to make use of the old blog to continue my thread...at least for now.

I don't know if this is allowed or not---but for now, I'm at a loss as to what to do. Because of the fiasco with Photobucket, I have posted my "return"/"fall" entry I had been working on since my last regular post on my blog (before losing all of the image elements in the vast messy black hole of my computer files). Look or don't but it is here:

Shawn,

If you haven't figured out a new direction yet, you can try dropbox (what I use)... it doesn't have a native way to post in forums, but there is a workaround.

When you upload a file to your folder, and copy the 'share' link, you get a link that looks like this:

This link will not work when you put it b/w the "img" tags here on the forum. But if you paste the link, and remove the "dl=0" at the very end, and replace it with "raw=1", so it looks like this...

Then place it b/w the "img" tags when authoring your post, your image will appear just fine...

Hope that is of some help buddy.

Hmm my dropbox went to a monthly charge like photobucket. I lost all my embeds. True you can embed new links still but you might lose those too in the future.

Hello, Gents! Sorry to have taken so long to answer. I was out of town on a short trip and then it was back to work, work, WORK! Ugh.

Photobucket's suckage has totally compromised your thread Shawn!

I agree. Hopefully, once i have a bit more time and can figure out what to do for images (and FIND all of my images), the APF powers that be will give me permission to go back in and edit my thread to replace all of the lost images. That's my dream anyway, down the line a bit.

Thanks for bothering to venture over there and taking a gander. And then coming back here to say so. Too kind. i know it's a pain, but it's all i have right now.

This is HUGE help. THANK YOU! Can you give me names of dropbox sites? I had never heard of them before. Zowie...to think of possibly having a thread with IMAGES again. Awesome!

Hmm my dropbox went to a monthly charge like photobucket. I lost all my embeds. True you can embed new links still but you might lose those too in the future.

Hmm. Were your dropbox's full or over the basic limit? This scares me. I don't want to repost images and then have them crash and burn again. Hmm.

I have a few Dropbox accounts, all are still free. I open new ones with free email addresses when I reach the size limit.

Again, can you tell me HOW and WHERE you do this? I'm interested.

Thank you ALL for your responses. it is so nice to hear from you.

I also thought I would try this...the free "cloud" stuff you get with hotmail. Is it big enough to host a zillion poster images? Do you think they'll ever charge for it? Will it even WORK? I'll try it here--just an experiment-- to see. Can you see "me?"

Hey Shawn,

No problem... Dropbox is actually the name of the site/service. Just go to http://www.dropbox.com and sign up. From there you can create folders or just start uploaing which you can do with a convenient drag and drop if you want. When you run out of space (b/c it is limited with a free account), just use another free email address to register a new DB account.

Let me know if you have any more problems.

Hi CHRIS!

I'll be checking the dropbox link out when I next have several days off. THANK YOU so much!

And now, here's another batch o' posters. I had started putting them on my blog and just decided to finish that entry up there. NEXT time, i hope to have them back on here.

For now though, here is the link:

Hi there. I finally have a little down time to respond.

Congrats on your recent haul, Shawn!  You got some good stuff in there (always loves those trashy Ilsa exploitative posters!).

THANK YOU! Glad you like the ILSA posters. Ha. Not many people do. It's an acquired (bad) taste, I suppose.  Ha. I appreciate the visit.

Ted! A rare appearance. I thought you fell off of the poster planet. Thanks for looking.

Great stuff Shawn. I really like the marquee photos also.

I'm glad you like the marquee stuff. I thought that was more appropriate and kind of neat historically to go with poster images, especially for my so called "blog" where anyone stumbling on to it might be confused by my usual random gifs separating the poster images.

I went to the dropbox thing and...i couldn't even register without credit card info. That didn't work for me either. Drat. But thank you anyway.

Thank you all who bothered to visit.  I apologize again for having to temporarily send you elsewhere to see my posts.

I don't quite understand why it's taking you so long to have your thread back.  All you need to do if you don't want to pay is switch to something like http://flickr.com/ and you're good to go
