Most Misogynist Movie Posters

Note: This post is merely a discussion and not meant to offend.

My views after one year of collecting: gotta be the Italians.  Thoughts?  What about worst decade?

Great post Zorba and very much appreciated.  Thanks for taking my post seriously.

I don't have an ounce of the background and expertise on APF, but what I do know is that I have perused thousands of images over the past year and find myself SHOCKED over and over by Italian renditions.  They find a way to mix violence with women no matter what the movie is.  Stabbing women on posters...really?  That sh*t sells?

APF - All Politics Forum.

Someone please enlighten me.  and yes, I'm aware of my own Avatar

true...but are these run of the mill movies or specific sexploitation genre?   What i'm talking about is the more common thread of violence against women rather than porn posters
coincidentally check out a few italians that Rumble has listed today

Good thread. And in short. Yes. We can see plenty  of misogynist posters out there. Pick your country. Pick your decade.

There is far too much violence and hatred towards women. And movie posters are just one of the many examples out there. It has a huge audience.

Let me put this on record.  I wouldn't enjoy seeing a poster of castrated man..or a man being raped by a radioactive octopus.  Or being cut into pieces and being raped at the same time. But there are numerous examples of posters such as those with female body parts. But of course they are not regarded as human beings..but whores.

And I am not criticising anyone for wanting them. Randy has a good collection.  And he is one of the nicest people on this forum.  And I'm glad he has them..rather than  a psychopath!! Meaning that I do no judge a book by its cover. We all collect what we want. End of.

But do please allow me here to raise a voice of concern about this trend. We are so exposed to this violence that it has become the norm seeing women treated like animals. And seemingly creating "art" out of it. It is deeply disturbing. I do not like it.

I blame our society for losing sight of who we are: human beings.

Obviously.  :-X

Man, those posters are all disturbing (imo).

Is there a large viewing audience for these kinds of flickers in Japan? Are these shown in theaters? Or are they more underground? or direct to video releases?

Thanks for a very thoughtful post.  I would hope that the hardest core misogynist posters would be a thing of the past.  I had a little girl about 5 months ago and have since started looking at some of my posters in a different way.  Other than the Nurse 3-D poster (which is a thing of beauty/art - a celebration of women IMO) i've been wanting to rid my (small) collection of the other images.

Just a newfound POV - of course I agree, Randy is not a psychopath!    ;)

Hot Summer in the City
was made in 1976.. and directed by someone called "The Hare." The female director's real name was Gail Palmer and, according to imdb, she got the idea for this film from a college paper she had written.  faint2.gif

Found it on ebay looking for exploitation posters. It is not mine, but I have it on my watchlist.
I actually thought on getting it just for the outrageous incorrectness of it all, but there's always something I need more urgently.

As a historical piece, I get it. Its sort of like the propaganda posters I collect.  Awful how some depict Germans and "Japs" but it was war afterall, and its important to keep that record.  Its amazing the kind of triggers they keep putting out there in order to push the right buttons.  I just hope future generations react as I do when they come across these records, and not completely desensitized and numb to it all.

Exactly, they are records of how things were marketed in other times. They have that historical value, as others that were not politically incorrect.
