Best studio for large formats?
« on: June 24, 2014, 01:08:05 PM »
I am looking for recommendations for restorers who are good with large formats, specifically Italian 4-folios (which means Dario is out, I'm afraid). Who are considered the best in the game? Poster Mountain? Or somebody else?

My previous large format experiences have been with Jaime Mendez and Alain Bourgouin, both unfortunately with mixed results. Yeah, I sure know how to pick them, eh?  ;D

I used Mario Cueva for my 6 sheet... It came out pretty good.  If I could have policed him a bit on matching the border to the natural look of the paper.

Getting ready to send in some Italian 4s, and was wondering if there were any thoughts beyond Mario/Poster Mountain.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Were Mario's prices comparable to PM?

I got my TCAT 6-sheet back from Mario!  bed1 bed1 I totally under estimated the size; these 6-Sheets are huge...  So now I have to debate whether to buy a frame or buy an Audrey from Bruce's Auction...

Before:

He did everything for around $700...

It's so sad to see it lay there still rolled up.  I can't hang it until I transition the stuff from our informal and I can't do that until I finish the kitchen remodel...  Maybe someday Grace will see the light again!

Yes, hurry up! I am so ready to start playing again. The back wall of the informal, where I will move the studio/poster lair has vaulted ceilings....   thumbsup.gif
