If you had to choose between a rolled poster with moderate to heavy white border wrinkling/wear or a near-mint folded poster which one would you buy?

Folded.  But folds don't bother me.  I actually like them.  But I may be a minority.

Rolled for me.  Don't mind Thierry - he's a minority ... I mean, he's in the minority....

folded anyday, not really cos I love the lines, rather storage is 100 x easier, rolled posters are a pain.

on fold them, I admit I keep my personal daybill collection, which is most of my never sell stuff, flat, but as T says, don’t really look, walls are full, I see the framed suckers every day, if for some reason I want to see one that’s folded, I unfold it. Lately Ive preferred Lobby cards though, so easy to flick through.

I prefer rolled but it would come down to what I could afford at the time.

Seems this thread, and the preference for folded or rolled, in a similar fashion, appeared a while back, too.

How about those folks that have taken a studio issue folded poster and opted to roll them?  Tongue

What a mess those can become!

Is there a gun to my head?  If not and if it was a post-70s posters, I would wait for a rolled one in good condition.  And I would not buy it on eMovieposter.  Those nuts pay crazy prices for rolled 80s posters  Grin

I love good condition folded posters, specially when they are framed because if people who are visiting look and asked about them me saying "It's an original XYZ" now has some meaning and adds to the 'look'.

I couldn't agree more. I love the thought that people may have seen one of my posters while entering a theater. That's not to say that a rolled poster hasn't been but I think it is more likely a folded one has.

as has already been posted in that other thread.. If I need a poster, I'll take it rolled or folded.

a better question for me is "would you prefer it raw or linenbacked"
I can answer that question very easily.

I have a linenbacked NM unrestored Australian 1sh for Brasher Doubloon that I got from Bruce 2-3 years ago. The poster is literally NM on linen.
I bought a replacement raw unbacked copy from John Reid just 2 months ago & at some point I will sell the linenbacked copy, even though the replacement copy is not even close to the same condition as the poster that is on linen

I also have a linenbacked and no need to be restored Japanese poster for Lady In the Lake (original release) that I also got from Bruce.
a few weeks ago, Bruce sold an unbacked copy and I bought that also. So at some point I will be selling the linenbacked copy

yet another poster that I have on linen - a US Brasher Doubloon 3sh (and again, from Bruce). once more, Bruce sold an unbacked folded copy in May and yes indeed folks I bought that one also. However I may not sell the backed copy as it is a display issue, so I may just continue to own 2 copies of that poster.

I'll take a raw poster in lower condition any day over a backed copy in NM.

Period!!
